  1. The rules are a bit vague: "Such clothing, bedding, furniture, household equipment and provisions as are necessary for satisfying basic domestic needs of the person and family" But I would suggest that a washing machine is a basic domestic need these days especially if you have a big family or young children. In any case, I don't think a bailiff really wants the aggravation of removing such a heavy bulky appliance. Not only that, unless you are lucky enough to own a Miele, they wont get much at auction
  2. Put the pic on Photobucket or similar, then write the link on here in words i.e dot com instead of .com
  3. Which, if you read the original post, you will see that Dixons took a month to replace and then only after pressure. The second TV was obviously not new and also developed a fault. The simple fact is that Dixons have behaved unreasonably throughout (not exactly unknown for DSG Group!) and have sought to undermine the OPs consumer rights at every turn. I am of the opinion that the OP is entitled to a brand new replacement TV under SOGA and if this were to go to court, he would win.
  4. Thats fine, but I would consider this to be very unreasonable for a period of 4 months. Dixons should not take that long to remedy the problem.
  5. Maybe the OP likes to watch DVDs or play games. Either way, a TV is often a major source of entertainment for several members of a household and the OP is entitled to be aggrieved considering he/she has not had a proper working set for 4 months!

  7. No, its a completely different debt. Don't let them in over this one, pay the council direct: the cannot legally refuse payments.
  8. Or 50 year old dropwires in the wind I don't have the patience. Get a fault raised online (even if that means going to the library if your BB is down)
  9. Hmmm..can't see you getting away with this one. Were there any mitigating circumstances as to why you were parked there? e.g had you broken down, was there a medical emergency?
  10. I detect the smell of a very worried troll soiling his pants
  11. Absolutely apalling behaviour by BT. All you need to do is test the line at the first BT socket, having disconnected any other phones or non-BT extension wiring. If its still noisy there, then its BTs problem and they have to fix the fault free of charge. If you have non-BT extensions (or BT extensions over 1 year old), they may charge you if the noise is proved to be from the extension wiring, so make sure you disconnect any such extensions before testing. The vast majority of noise faults like you have described are either in the overhead wiring from the telephone pole, or BTs underground cables.
  12. If you have a Lidl near you, use them. Years ago, I thought that cheap=poor quality. Not true. For example Lidl sell steak or chicken and ham pies for £1.79 and have large chunks of meat in them. Tescos nearest equivalent costs £2.99 (or more), contains small/tiny bits of meat and is chock full of onion to enhance the otherwise bland flavour. Oh, and their baby wipes are 99p for 80 and have been that price for the last 2 years. If Lidl can do it and still turn a profit, why can't Tesco? (that was a rhetorical question)
  13. Not so sure. You have paid for a service which you did not receive: £1300 cemetery disbursements. As you have stated the grave attendants ran away, I would suggest you are due at least some compensation from them. After all, I wouldn't pay my plumber if he ran away from my boiler!
  14. I think they are allowed to process your data wherever they like, but must still abide by UK data protection laws.
  15. Its just another government money making [problem]. It would seem that the cops do have an option of whether to issue a fine or not: The mop cops: Yobs who urinate or vomit in street are made to clear it up | Mail Online And once again, another case of councils failing to provide the amenities they are supposed to with the vast amounts of council tax they take from us
  16. According to my maths, THEY owe YOU £175.60: £370.25-£194.65. I would write to the credit union and ask for your balance to be returned to you immediately or YOU will file a claim against them! Sounds to me like the credit union has attempted to add some rather dubious fees.
  17. Found this one in Tesco: Own brand toothpaste 50ml for 42p or 100ml for 36p. These are regular prices with no offers. Which would you buy?! :?
  18. Up until last year, I lived in Southampton, apparently second only to London in density of traffic lights - first city in the UK to install them on motorway slip roads and roundabouts!. Whenever they broke down, traffic flowed much more freely, but they were soon repaired . The cynical suggested that councillors had shares in the company that makes/installs them
  19. Whilst I don't condone such threats, it will be very interesting to see just what does happen to traffic flow in this area...
  20. Apply for a refund, backdated to December. Its your money, not theirs, and you are entitled to it. BTW, they say they will only refund quarters, not months . Let the jokers take you to court, then counterclaim for your refund and costs.
  21. This happens all the time. I have photos of my council's CEO van (Hastings) parked on "double yellows" in the railway car park which is operated by a private company. Nice, cosy arrangement?
  22. Although that opens up a whole new can of copyright worms (but I have never heard of anyone being "done" for this)
  23. I'm guessing that as these jokers are sending you their threatograms, you have already stopped paying. I would ignore them. You have all the evidence you need to make them look really stupid if they take you to court.
