What is the problem? Are you a victim of identity theft? Is there a problem with your credit records? I found them very difficult to deal with - assuming I was guilty party - despite all the facts pointing to the reverse They sent goods to a totally different address from my electoral roll and waived all their other credit checks and then tried to make me responsible for the value of goods delivered. They put comments on my credit record - which I discovered when I was unable to obtain credit and caused me considerable inconvennience and embarrassment They demanded a copy of the photo page in my passport, I refused to send this to them. Eventually after using my MP, writing to the then chairman Lord Alliance at the House of Lords etc and using the credit reference agencies I was able to clear my name and they made a payment to a cancer charity in my name as a gesture of goodwill They clearly did not think about the victim of their actions in my case -

I plan to follow this up - once the post strike is over The most important item was to clear my name and credit record

Success Company after weeks and weeks of correspondence and with the clock running down before the complaint was sent to information commissioner have cleared my name and "sincerely" apologised. Happy that name is cleared but a horrible experience dealing with people who were defrauded due to their inadadequate processes and then effectively said I was guilty unless I could prove myself innocent.

You were spot on - received a letter from company - :)unhappy at my letter to FSA - and requesting private information on me in order to clear my name - I am refusing to send them any private information on me but have offered to send it to the police who they should have reported the fraud carried out on them to.

I am in a similar position with this company - identity theft - they posted nasties about me - which led to me having a CIFAS fraud alert on me - they have no written off the debt but are being very difficult about correct inaccurate information - which firm did you use - appreciate if you could send me their details Many thanks

I am having extreme problems with j D Williams I am a victim of identity theft as they supplied goods to someone who pretended to be me without proper credit checks at an address different from the elctoral roll and they are now being extremely difficult with correcting inaccurate and slanderous information The DPA reply I got from them is incomplete and thery aslo demand £10 per account - eg £30 for 3 accounts - despite the fact that two accounts were were the same company

Thanks I have done both of these I am pursuing the DPA option and will go to court if they refuse to change their records I have asked the to change the inaccurate inforamtion and am awaiting a reply I have also written to the FSA, OFT, their chairman Lord Alliance etc I have sked my MP to have the law changed and to raise the matter in parliament

I unfortunately have just come across J D Williams - someone used my identity to obtain credit from them - which they approved without proper checks - and it appears to me they did not even raise an eyebrow when the order address was totally different from that on the electoral register. They now accept I did not place te order but are now being particularly difficult on updating inaccurate information they have on me which I need to clear up to clear my name I will read with interest how you get on with these people

I am the victim of a similar identity theft where both Littlewoods and J D Williams were defrauded. I called Littlewoods who took my details and received a call the following day from their fraud department who were satisfied I was the innocent victim of identity fraud (in my case the phone number the fraudster used was also used in other identity frauds) and immediately wrote off the debt and cleared my names (full marks to Littlewoods) I am struggling to get J D Williams / Fashionworld to correct the incorrect information they hold on - although they have as a goodwill gesture written off the debt You should also ask experian to put a note of correction on your mother's credit record so people are aware that the debt is in dispute Good luck

Ask Experian to put a correcting note on your name - stating you have nothing to do with the related address Contact CIFAS Ask for the information under the DPA - Govt website is really good These may help - but if company still persists in maintaining inaccurate info - you have to give ask them to erase or change it - and if they don't go the the court - wasting time and money and most importantly extending the time period this inaccurate information is recorded on you for. Good luck - I guess I am 6 weeks further down the road than you and it may take another couple of months for me to complete the process as J D Williams continue to be unhelpful. The same fraudsters defrauded Littlewoods who in marked contract to JD Williams cleared my name immediately, saying that the fraudsters had used the same phone number for other similar frauds.

I am the victim of attempted identity theft where a company allowed someone to open 3 accounts over the internet and supplied several hundred pounds worth of goods to them, despite an Experian search showing the delivery address was totally different than my address on the electoral roll The company have told me they are no longing pursuing the debt against me but are refusing to correct incorrect information about me I crequest DPA information and the company has been very cute and sent minimal information claiming the other information relates to the address I have onthing to do with and therefore I have no right to see it I need to clear my name - does anyone have any ideas
