  1. well done.......im on day 20 of the tablets and day 10 of not smoking.I was on 40a day, found first few days of not smokin hard but not had any cravings now for a few days. Have you had any side effects with the tablets??..I have had few restless nights and wierd dreams...although the 100 quid i have saved in 10 days is great.
  2. Yes Allwood...write back to them tell them they are in breach of banking code and you will take complaint to fos...but would like to offer abbey chance first. They are only in breach of banking code if they DIDNT inform you of impending charges. For some reason abbey had put a return mail marker on my account and so i didnt recieve a letter of impending charges. they refunded me all charges ,interest on od,and 50 quid compensation....took about 8 weeks in all.
  3. I would of thought there would of been more reaction at the time..but it was a bit quiet.I won because they didnt send me a letter about impending charges which is against the banking code.
  4. Back in july i was hit for backdated charges going back to feb for a total of £315 ,abbey said it was all done at once due to a computer hitch. I didnt recieve any written notice to say that these charges were coming out of my account and it left me skint for a few weeks. I rang up abbey to complain and they offered me £50 or the option to take it further as a complaint, but i may get offered nothing ( a bit like deal or no deal) I sent a letter saying that what they had done was against the banking code and i wouldnt settle for anything less. Today i have recieved a letter stating that my complaint has been dealt with and they will refund all the charges plus £50 goodwill. It just shows that if you sound like you know what you are doing then they will buckle.
  5. Sorry should of stated..done that already got all documents..the ppi boxes are ticked but as this was done online i am positive i didnt tick them. Would it be possible to for the telephone advisor to tick them when i activated my card? Already sent first letter asking for money back and reason for complaint.
  6. I am looking for a bit of advice on what action to donext...story so far. Put in a claim for missold ppi against natwest credit cards .My argument is that i wasnt told that previous medical conditions were not covered. I sent of my first complaint letter stating my concerns and the amount of money i am claiming for. I appied for the cc on the internet and when it arrived i rang the number printed on the card to activate it,its at this point i was sold the ppi and at no point was i told of any exclusions. I have recieved my reply from RBS rejecting my claim on the grounds that i ticked the ppi box on my internet application and also they say that the policy was sold as a non advised sale whatever that means. I know i didnt tick the ppi box because why would theysell me the ppi on the phone if i had already agreed to it. I am at a bit of a loss as what my next course of action should be . The term non advise sale keeps cropping up throughout the rejection letter. Why would the box for ppi have a tick next to it if i hadnt ticked it...can this box be ticked by the telephone advisor when i agreed to the ppi? hope somebody can help:confused:
  7. 2nd ppi claim against a&l loans...first one recieved £536...today recieved offer of £303. Hope cc charges pay up as easy.
  8. A&L offers on ppi usually spot on....mine was itemised, ppi payments , rebate figure then 8% interest. If you are confused just ring them ,they will explain the figure.
  9. Just been reading an interesting article on This is money website.Part of the article says that claims may be able to be made for longer than the 6 years mark. If banks' overdraft terms are found to be unfair, consumers may also be able to reclaim funds back as far as 1995 – the year European rules on consumer contracts came into force – and as far forward as six years after any judgment from the House of Lords, due this autumn. Currently, customers can only claim back six years from the date of their claim. Daniella Lipszyc, a contract specialist and director of Manchester-based law firm Ultimate Law, said there is a 'fair chance' claim periods may be extended, but dismissed the chances of consumers sharing in banks' profits as a 'flight of fantasy'. How long does a bank hold information on you if you have closed your account. If i closed an account in 2000 would the bank still hold a record of all my transactions ?
  10. Got my offer letter fROm A&L for ppi on a loan. Paying back all ppi payments plus 8% interest....£531 Not bad for ringing them up and complaining, didnt even cost the price of a stamp.
  11. Hi I am in the same boat as you but with natwest credit card,i have just rung them to cancel my ppi and i asked them if it covered pre existing medical conditions. The girl on the phone said it did...i asked what everything, she said yes. I am going to send template letter to see how it goes. Could i ask how much off the mark your offer was from al as i am waiting for one? tony
  12. Firstly i apologise if this post isin wrong section but couldnt find where to place it. Just before christmas i checked my online statement on abbey web site and to my horror i noticed that several hundreds of pounds had benn paid to website casinos, web hosting companies and mobile companies without my authorisation or knowledge. I immediately informed the abbey and they ceased all activities on my account and set up a fraud investigation. When i asked them if i should inform the police they said no. However since then i have found out that a friend of my wifes has also been hit by the fraudsters at the same time by the same companies ,so i was wondering if the abbey have been hit quite hard by these frauds. My question is should i inform the police about this fraud and what can they do?
  13. Thanks so much for that.As i work away most of the year i think this would be the best option for me,its a shame as the interest is about £250 but a grand is better than nothing. Thanks again Will keep you all posted on outcome
  14. Hi Guys This is my first actual post on here but i have been reading and following the advice for about a year now,i am at the stage of issuing court procedings. I have done all the letters..etc and have had a good will payment of £380 against charges of £1500. My problem is that i work away from home alot and so i havent had the time to get together court bundles etc in readiness for my issuing court procedings I dont want to do this slap dash and so i was thinking about going to the FOS to see what they can do. My question is if i go down the FOS route do i loose the right of claiming the interest on the charges.??? Any advice would be most welcome.
