  1. :? I wrote the first letter and got the statements. Sent a letter with spreadsheet and they offered me £88 instead of over £757! I wrote accepting £88 but not as full and final payment and sent letter before action. They haven't bothered to reply. Now - when I fill in the moneyclaim form, do I have to include the amounts on the spreadsheet for the charges and interest PLUS the amount in the 8% interest worksheet? I am confused. Thanks.:?
  2. Have been trying to reclaim charges from Halifax but so far nothing. Have sent them the preliminary letter, the letter before action along with the spreadsheet. Now need to put in the moneyclaim form. Where do I get one? From the courts or can I download from the net and/or can I fill in and submit over the net as well? Thanks.
  3. Hi all Before my "letter before action" got posted this morning, the kind postman delivered a letter from Halifax offering me £88 (charges from Dec 2005) as a goodwill gesture (they owe me some £750) and threatened to close my account and if I am not happy with this decision, then I can take it up with the Ombudsman! Acceptance form enclosed. I don't want to accept this but which letter do I need to write now? Thanks in advance.
  4. My Letter Before Action is being posted today. So wait and see what happens next. Thanks everyone.
  5. I wrote to the Halifax regarding the bank charges that I was reclaiming. My letter, along with spreadsheet, was dated 10th July. Yesterday, I received a letter from them saying the following (verbatim): "Thank you for your letter on 10th July 2006. My understanding of your complaint is that you are unhappy about the charges on you (their error) account and you would like the charges refunding. We're keen to deal with your concerns as quickly as possible. A Customer Relations Manager will investigate the poings you have raised and you will receive a reply shortly, but certainly no later than 4 weeks. You will find enclosed a copy of our leaflet, which tells you how we will handle your complaint. Your sincerely Ruth Stringer Redress Assessor Core Business Customer Relations Enc. Personal Customer Complaints - Here's what we'll do" Has anyone else had such a letter? Now what do I do? Do I wait 4 weeks or shall I go ahead with the next letter giving them 7 days?
  6. Thank you Clayts. I thought as much but just wasn't sure. Letter is all printed and ready to be posted tomorrow. thanks for your help.
  7. Re spreadsheet and letter. Ihave complted the spreadsheet with the chargeson the left and the interest on the right. When I send my letter asking for a refund, do I include the total on the spreadsheet from the left AND the total of Interest on Penalties? Or do I add up the interest charged and include that with the penalties charges(from the left of the sheet)? Thanks
  8. Hi Strude Sorry to be thick but where is the £10 that you mention. I have unhid the other columns before column P and there seems to be a claculation that is picking up £28 which appears to be the same amount on that date on the Charges side of the spreadsheet. As it goes down, the charges add up and then it starts to pick up the added amount e.g. £116. Am I making any sense or am I just missing the point? Thanks.
  9. Can someone help please? I am working on the spreadsheet where I list my charges but on the right hand side of hte spreadsheet, there is a section for interest charged. What do I put in in column P (interest on charges)? It does not seem to calculating anything by itself. Do Ileave it blank or do I just not fill in anything in the whole fo that section? Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks.
  10. Had exactly the same letter this morning. But I have already had my statements for over a week now. Do I still go ahead, fill in the spreasheet and put in my claim? Thanks.
  11. Hi all Got all my statements and have highlighted everything that I think I should claim back. I have an agreed overdraft of £1800 and I am always maxed on that as I am paid weekly (and indefinite amounts) but I am being charged interest on that. Can I claim these charges back as well? I notice that they have charged me when I have been in credit too. Also, my total charges come to about £500 (not totalled up yet). Is there any likelihood that they will close my account and ask me to pay back the O/D - all of £1800.00? I don't know how I will be able to do that. Thanks.
  12. I sent £10 cheque that they promptly cashed. Also, I sent my letter, by recorded delivery, to my branch. Have got the statements now. Not sure if I have received all of them - will check when I get home. Good luck.
  13. Hi all I have received some bank statements from the bank (got them on Sat but been out all weekend to check them all) and now I need to start filling in the spreadsheet. But can someone please tell me where the spreadsheet is? Do I have to send any specailly worded letter with it? I tend to feel a bit flummaxed by such stuff and therefore any help is useful. Thanks.
