  1. Mandm In answer to your question, They have taken the money off my outstanding balance. They have not demanded the remaining balance. Dont know if they have froze the card but dont plan to use it again anyway
  2. Hi Alanalana Egg - Settled Virgin - The card has Virgin all over it but when you get your statements they have MBNA on it with a Virgin logo Barclaycard - still had no response
  3. OK, absolutly fuming, had a call from MBNA last night, the lady said it was a courtesy call (my backside), she went onto confirm I did not select PPI on application but that I called MBNA specifically and added it on. I am genuenly stunned. When I said that I did not she went on to say that maybe whilst discussing several products on a cold call I accepted it but they sent letters and thats that. My reply was that MAYBE Virgin added it on without my consent. She said that the statement was MBNA stance and it was up to me how I chose to proceed. I thought they would try it on but did not expect blatent lies. I presume I would send an LBA now, can someone provide a link for it, all this makes me more determined
  4. Livis, this looks OK but I would wait for Angry cat to verify, you might want to look at my thred, just had an offer through
  5. OMG..........1st Success……….Received a letter from EGG in response to the one in the last post putting their hands up and closing the complaint with a full offer of over £4000 + 8% interest. Logged into my account last night and it is already there, albeit this is direct into my Egg account and is absorbed by the outstanding balance but does give us some breathing space. Many thanks to Alanalana for all your help, not only do you give good advice but you also give people the confidence to keep going. I still have Virgin and Barclays yet to contend with but now am thinking "bring it on". I will definitely be making a donation to this site when I next get paid.

  8. Hi Leviculas I am pursuing egg also, my case looks almost identical to yours, I opened my account in Mar 2003 and my argument is that I did not select PPI and genuinely did not know I had PPI. I did try to cancel it and was told that until I had a zero balance I could not. With this being my only argument do you think I have a case?
  9. Here is my one to Egg I purchased the above policy from you but now believe that I was mis-sold this policy for the following: Fined: This is due to the fact that you have been fined by the FSA for failing to treat your customers fairly when selling Payment Protection Insurance and I do not believe that my policy was sold in my best interests. Not aware the cover was sold to me: This is due to the fact that I was not given the correct information when the policy was sold to me, as having looked at the paperwork for my credit card I now realise that I have been paying for insurance that I did not know I had taken out so could not have been explained to me. Alternative Insurance Cover: Your sales advisors in each case failed to ask me if I had any alternative arrangements for insurance cover. My employer has a generous illness package. I would also be entitled to a generous redundancy package and a substantial payment would be made in the event of my death in service (more than suffice to clear the balance of the loan). Not allowing me to cancel PPI: This is also due to the fact that I contacted you some time ago and you informed me that I could not cancel the policy until the account had a zero balance. Unless you can satisfactorily justify to me that the policy was fair and reasonable I am requesting a full refund of all premiums which is a total of £????.??, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid to date. As I believe I have been deprived of this money I also expect 8% statutory interest, the amount a court would award, to be added to each payment made. I look forward to a full and prompt response to this letter and for the matter to be concluded within eight weeks or I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint. Yours faithfully,
  10. Alanalana Thanks for this, you are a star, OK, here is my letter to MBNA (Virgin), I have also sent a summary of the charges which they have sent to me: I purchased the above policy from you but now believe that I was mis-sold this policy for the following: Not aware the cover was sold to me: This is due to the fact that I was not given the correct information when the policy was sold to me, as having looked at the paperwork for my credit card I now realise that I have been paying for insurance that I did not know I had taken out so could not have been explained to me. Unless you can satisfactorily justify to me that the policy was fair and reasonable I am requesting a full refund of all premiums which is a total of £???.??, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid to date. 11. Thanks Alanalana, 1. I will send Letter of non compliance and complaint the to Information Commissioners re Barclays. 2. On Saturday morning I received a huge envolope from Egg with all my statements dating back to 2003 (when I opened the card). I need to sipht through this and obtain my figure of PPI and then reply with a request for payment, do you know what template I would use 3. As I have my figure for the PPI payments, I want to send a request for payment, a request for payment, do you know what template I would use
  12. Thank you Yourbank for your reply, strangly enough, on Saturday morning I received an income and expenditure form from Barclays for me to complete. I will get that filled out today and sent off 1st class. Do you know how long they have to respond?
  13. Sorry, this may be clearer Doc1.doc
  14. Hi All OK, 40 days is up and I have received the following 1. Barclays - Sent a mail informing me they are looking into it and then nothing 2. Egg- Sent nothing 3. Virgin have sent a list of charges Can I have some advise as to which template letters needs to sent next for each one Thanks everyone
  15. Hi all HELP please...........OK, received the reply and was not surprised, took me a min or two to identify the big NO response. Could I have some advise on my next steps. Is it an LBA?
  16. Ok, have bit the bullet and posted the letter, lets see what happens
  17. OK, Received acknowledgement from Virgin that they are looking into this and that they will respond within 14 days
  18. Hi All I have already requested a summary of my charges and am posting request for payment letter today. Now within the template it refers to changes in circumstances, i.e. breakdown of partnership, death etc of which none of them I have experienced. I am not on benefits etc, my circumstance is purely I am trying to pay my bills leaving me with next to no money for living expenses and Barclays are whopping on an extra £120 each month to my account in changes so am struggling to get on top of things. So on that basis I have amended the template letter and wondered if someone could take a look and if they think I have a case. The amount is approx £870 to date: Obviously I have taken off my account details I am writing to request that you repay all the default charges that have been applied to my account since 10 Sept 2003 and stop adding any further charges to my account. I do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to Barclays of going into unauthorised overdraft. I request that you deal with my case now rather than once the test case has ended as I am currently experiencing financial difficulties and the FSA waiver states that you should continue to deal with hardship cases. My current circumstances mean that I am struggling to meet my payments each month, whilst striving to pay all my monthly bills, Barclays keep adding to my account leaving me with virtually nothing for food and day to day living expenses, this is clearly visible on my monthly statements and as I have two children I have found myself needing to take cash out on a credit card to pay for day to day goods. The charges total. I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money and therefore ask that you repay me the full amount. I have attached a full schedule of the charges with this document. I look forward for a full response to this letter within 14 days. Yours faithfully,
  19. Thanks Bankfodder, will do and will keep this forum updated, looked through my old bills last night and could not believe what I was paying. What I did notice on an old bill on my virgin account was it said "payment protection cover" and then on a more recent bill it said "optional payment protection cover". Me thinks they have had a ticking off or realised that they have been duping people and best cover their tracks
  20. Hi All I am starting 3 claims today against all 3 companies named above. I have held cards with them for many years and genuinely did not know about payment protection and applied for them all online, so I certainly would not have selected it. I am not self employed and have worked all through the period I held the cards, do I still have a case. My circumstances have never changed and I have never attempted a claim on any of them. You can see the letter below I posted to all 3, is this OK for a starting block Many thanks for your help in advance ?????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?? September 2009 ?????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?????????? ?????????? Dear Sir or Madam, Account number: ?????????? I am writing to request a fully comprehensive list of all the insurance charges added to my account with ??????????. If you are unable to provide this data, I will accept copies of my statements. I understand that statements on their own are not covered by the Data Protection Act, yet I’m not requesting the statements per se, but the charges, which I’m entitled to. I look forward to your response within 40 days, as is obliged under the Data Protection Act 1998. If not I shall seek remedy from the Information Commissioner. Yours faithfully,
  21. OK, my 2nd letter with total amount was sent on the 23rd November and today I have received a reply. It is a standerd letter saying that they are sorry I am disatisfied but they will resolve the matter by the 28 December and its not even signed (its a photocopy signature). Do I wait and give them the opportunioty to respond or send the LBA 14 days from the 23rd (when the 2nd letter was sent)
  22. Paddy, thanks for your help, I think you read some things on the threads which make you really confident, and then you read just one negative and it seems to throw it all in the air again. But I think the general trend is to stick to your guns and all will be OK. Thanks again
  23. Hello everyone, as I mentioned in the earlier post the 2nd letter is now on its way, but am growing more and more concerned about a few things 1. Woolwich freezing my account 2. Woolwich serving a default against me 3. Woolwich closing my account 3. My overdraft with the woolwich being demanded back My question is: as I am in the flow of things at the moment, is it best for me to go all the way to the court demanding that no defaults are served and can the FOS do anything about them closing my account and if they can, can they do it quickly
