  1. I need a bit of advice as to what to do. Back in February 2006, my wife came off her cycle due to the poor state of the road in an Oxfordshire town. A claim was made with a solicitor on the good old "no win no fee" basis and after some many months; they feel after advice from a Barrister that owing to the Oxfordshire County Countys stance and intransigence; it wouldnt win in court. Have written to the local MP to see if he knew of a better angle to go and have also written directly to the dept concerned. No go. I can start a privately funded case but as Court costs wouldnt be exactly cheap, that is also a dead end. Can anybody think of another angle to go for or do I go for plan B. That would be to use the coucils report a pothole scheme where any raod defect no matter how trivial would be reported. For each report they have to investigate apparently so in no time at all I could waste the £2k i would hope to get from them. Trivial I know, but would make us feel better. Is there anything we can do to defeat the Town Hall ?
  2. Took out a loan with ppi in 1999 and then paid that off in 2001 and then later that year took out another loan with ppi again. I know on the Bank fees reclaiming you can go back 6 years; am I too late to claim on these or is there a little hope? Any thoughts please.
  3. hang in there. might seem ago that you started, but it will pay off. Saw an advert for "we can get you a refund" and enquired. They wanted 25% plus vat for doing this process. Keep going and when you win donate some to the site.
  4. Well done. Enjoy your money. I sent a letter to Colin Langdale thanking him for the money as well.
  5. Must be because the Isle of Wight is obviously in a diferent time zone to the mainland. Just stick in there. Heard today that 250,000 template letters have been downloaded from the Martin Lewis moneysaving experts website so the banks will get busy.
  6. I would do both at the same time and the best place to find advice is to read and then re-read the FAQ's. Thats what I did to get back my money. Read everything you can find in the FAQ's and peoples threads and follow the process to the letter and you wont go wrong
  7. Trapdoorsally, just stick to your timetable and no doubt they will ignore it as no doubt they are a bit busy. No problem, its your money and you will get it back. Get that calendar marked up for the 14 days and sit back.
  8. When I got all my statements I sorted them into the different years, then highlighted each charge and noted the balance at the time as you will see wheen it comes to put the info onto the spreadsheets that this is needed. Seems a bit long winded but it works. All the help you need for that is in the FAQs and by reading the forums. I was a bit disappointed with my initial total but checked again and found some I had missed. Spend some time doing this and you will see it all adds up. Best of luck to you
  9. Hows it going trapdoorsally? Arm yourself with a highlighter for marking out the charges if you havent already done so and check again your totals and then use the template letters in the forums to then start the ball rolling.Stick to the timetable and you wont go wrong.
  10. I faxed the copies of the claim breakdown each day to DG with my contact phone no. and then out of the blue I got a call and a fews days later an offer in full for my claim. Keep at them.
  11. Dont worry ETphoneshome, DG will make an offer soon and it will all be over. And fairies live at the end of my garden. No just hang in there and you will soon get the cheque.
  12. When they settled my claim, they received my acceptance Monday and I had the money in the bank on Friday.
  13. Letter from the wonderful Colin Langdale confirming that the money had been sent to my account so its letter writing time. Sending a letter to the court confirming that it has been paid and to close the case, letter of thanks to HSBC for the repayment and also to confirm to DG that its now closed. Oh and I made a donation. Keep at it people you will get there.
  14. Whoops and there is me thinking you were a girl. Oh well; but as Lateralus says, just keep reading a checking and rechecking and it will all come good. And stick to your timetable not theres. Best of luck.
  15. Thanks to Lateralus and Bankfodder and HSBCrusher for ther help in my quest. Just need the cheque now and then will donate. For everybody else, follow the information in the FAQ's and use the forum as a diary to chart your progress and you will win. Good luck people
  16. Go for it girl. I started off by reading again and again the FAQ's and other threads and used this forum as a diary so that I could keep an eye on the timetable. Follow the information on this site and do as it suggests and you wont go wrong. Imagine this; by Easter going on the dragging out they are doing and you WILL have your money. If in doubt, just ask.
  17. WON!!!!!! Full offer received today. Have a couple of contact numbers for people to try. Rachel can be contacted on these numbers. Tel 0121 455 2701 Fax 0121 455 2150
  18. Rang them up and of course went to voicemail. Havent had a reply as yet and no offer and the AQ has been filed as didnt want to lose the deadline.Shall ring again today and try to see what is going on. Apart from that what can I do?
  19. Almost a week has passed and still no settlement figure. Shall give it to the end of the week and then try to ring them to see what the state of play is.
  20. Well I dont believe it. DG rang early today and the lovely Julie confirmed that yes they have my paperwork and will deal with it and I should get a settlement figure within the week. Shall have to put the AQ in though just in case as I can always ring the Court I guess. Yesterday was a bad day though. First time in 10 years missed a mortgage payment and A+L charged £34 for that and Abbey added another £32 as well? i know it was my fault but can I ask for those payments back?
  21. Faxed the details again to them and followed up with a call. The lovely Debbie D'Aubney answered and informed me she wasnt dealing with it and then transferred me and it went to voice mail. Left a message but not impressed. Can't walk the form in on Wednesday and with an unreliable postal service in this area; I shall have to send it on Saturday to ensure it gets there. I imagine I shall just have to wait now.
  22. Have since my last post posted and faxed to DG solicitors the breakdown of my claim and havent heard anything. Shall have to post the AQ at the end of the week. What happens after that? With the AQ do I Need to send copies of the claim to the court? I have read somewhere that you need to do this.
  23. Tried to phone Deborah at DG Solicitors but always out or whatever, left messages and have now faxed for her attention the breakdown of costs re the court claim. Have until the 24.1.07 to lodge the AQ with the court; but obviously would like to hear sooner than that. This waiting is turning me grey(er).
  24. The AQ has a file by date of 24.1.07. I havent sent DG a breakdown of the costs so shall fax them a copy on Monday and ring later to see if it was received. I shall tell them I shall hold off filing the AQ unless I hear from them. I then hope to see some good news in the post.
  25. Am now in receipt of the AQ from the court. Is it in my interest to fax a copy of this to DG Solicitors as well as return it to the local court now? I have seen on other threads that this wakes up the Solicitors and money then comes winging my way. Either way I appear to be getting close. Now have to start the process with A+L as they have just stung me for a bounced DD payment.
