  1. Thanx XX, I did see that sticky but am a little confused as what to do! Is there a standard template letter to send off, I take it I need to write to them & appeal!
  2. Hi Guys I received two letters today (2/4/16) from APCOA Parking, one is a Parking charge notice, the other is a reminder letter, both have different issue dates on although they both arrived today together! It is for First Great Western, for 'Use of a private car park without making a valid payment' on 25/2/16, although a payment was made anyway! Can anyone please advise on my next step, done anything as yet! Thanks in advance.
  3. I took my van for an MOT on fri 28th Oct which failed due to needing some welding & a new tyre. I booked the van in for the work to be done on the following tuesday (1/11/11), i visited the garage on the monday (31/10/11) to arrange my dropping the van off for the following day & to get a rough price for the repairs. The guy who actually carried out the MOT test could remember my van & its defects & said it would probably cost between £200-£400 for the work. I left my van outside the garage gate at 7.30 on the tuesday as agreed, my wife passed by at 8.45 to see my van still parked outside the gates. i recieved a telephone call from the garage at 11am to say my repairs would cost £560 + vat, a total of £672. I was suprised, thinking the amont of welding must of been alot more then i had thought, but needing the van for work i gave the go ahead to carry out the repairs. I telephoned the garage the following day, wed (2/11/11) at 2.30 pm & my van was ready, i paid my bill & picked up my van with a new MOT. I looked under the van the following day, thurs (3/11/11) expecting to see lots of welding & was shocked to see 5 or 6 small patches & couldn't believe that this small amount of work had cost me so much. I telephoned the garage to state my feelings that i had been overcharged for this work, only to be told there were 2 men working on the van all day & that both rear shock absorbers had to be removed, (obviously trying to justify his costs). I felt that i was not going to get anywhere so made my dissapointment known & ended the call. I can see that the shock absorbers have not been taken out & that 1 of the patches has been tucked underneath the shock mounting plate & only welded on 3 sides, the non welded side is hidden under the shock mounting plate. ( All welding for structural areas need to be a continuous seam weld all the way around the patch to pass an MOT). What should be my next move & to who should i complain for the shoddy workmanship & overcharging! I dont trust the garage to carry out any further work on my van.
  4. The bailiff levied on a 40" flat screen tv, a dvd player, a leather sofa (on finance), 4 gas lift bar stools & a washing machine. All belong to me apart from the sofa which is on finance in my wifes name.
  5. There were additional bailiff fees & LO fee which i paid to the council along with my arrears all in one go. I have started a thread on my bailiff visit/arrears, but started this as a seperate thread as i done a search & could not find much soley regarding LO's & assumed a thread on this could be helpful to all, maybe i should of posted in my original thread, apologies for that. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?304341-Bailiff-called-amp-my-wife-let-him-in! Regarding paperwork, i have had nothing sent to me from the council regarding my arrears, as said previously i was only aware when a bailiff arrived while i was at work & he caught my wife returning from the school run, said he was from the council & just followed her into my house. When i queried the council for no paperwork being sent, they just said it had been sent & basicly that was good enough for them.
  6. Im not sure of the date of the LO, to be honest the first i realised i had arearrs was when the bailiff tricked his way into my house on 5/5/11. I phoned the council the very next day & paid in full, i requested a receipt but when it arrived it was a bit scrappy, small writing & only showed they were in receipt of the money i paid to them. I was hoping more for a receipt showing my balance was now nil & that i no longer had a LO against me. Thanks for your reply Hallowitch, i've another receipt on its way to me which i will keep safe if i need it for the future.
  7. After having settled my LO to the council for council tax arrears, fully in one payment, is there any way of checking to see if the courts have been notified that the LO is now satisfied. I have asked the council for a letter for Liability Order Discharge but was told they dont do this, the best they can do is to send me a statement showing i no longer owe any arearrs on last years coucil tax charge.
  8. Me too, is there nothing that can be done about these low lifes. Are the government not interested, local MP's etc. Surely their behaviour needs to be looked into.
  9. List of goods he wrote down are 1. TV About a year old, 40" flat screen lcd mid range. 2. DVD Player. About a year old, mid range. 3. Leather suite. (which is on finance) She did not mention it was on finance. 4. Washing Machine. The council said this would be exempt. 5. 4 Bar Stools. Gas stools, we have a breakfast bar instead of a dining table. Your right about worthless...lol
  10. Do you mean the blue form which lists fees, etc, or the list of goods he has wrote down on the inventory of goods seized list. List of goods he wrote down are 1. TV 2. DVD Player. 3. Leather suite. (which is on finance) 4. Washing Machine. 5. 4 Bar Stools.
  11. Yes he did leave a notice of seizure of goods (blue form) & an Inventory of goods seized list, you are correct it was B & S. Do i send the above breakdown of fees to the bailiff & council, or just bailiff.
  12. Yes this was his first visit as far as i know, or at least the first time he has made himself known. It is a £35 levy fee & £24.50 redemption of goods fee. I queried with the council if they could charge this, only to be told by the 1st person i spoke to that the bailiff colud charge this &m for a van if he wanted to on the first visit, she then said to me 'you've been reading the internet'. I then spoke to the senior officer from the council & he agreed also that this fee was allowed because he had levied!
  13. I paid £396.50. this amounts from £307 council tax arrears, £30 Liability order, £24.50 bailiffs fee & £35 for another fee. This figure was handed to my wife at 3.30 pm yesterday & i was confirmed this by the council when i phoned them at 9am this morning.
  14. I did querie this whilst on the phone to them this morning & he said that it had been posted to me. I have never recieved anything relating to this matter from them, but his answer was 'it was redeemed as sent, so that was good enough'.
  15. After making payment for the full amount using my debit card, i was told that it was authorised & that the bailiffs had now been called off & that i shall recieve a receipt in the post. I actually made payment to the council after arguing that i did not want to deal with the bailiffs, they agreed but only on the condition that they phoned the bailiffs to confirm the amont i owed, this was obviously to make sure i paid all fees the bailiffs had added.
  16. Just an update, i paid this 1st thing this morning & can breath a huge sigh of relief that it is behind me. I was not aware i had arrears from last year & did not recieve a 14 day warning letter either, thats why i was totally shocked to hear a bailiff had called to my home. Anyway..a lesson learned by me!!
  17. Hi All.. .i returned from work today to find my wife upset & annoyed. She had returned home after picking our daughter up from school to find a car parked blocking our driveway, the guy in the car asked her if she lived at number x, & when she confirmed this, he said he was from the council. My wife had her arms full with shopping bags, so she unlocked the front door, walked in & the guy followed her in. He then announced he was there for unpaid council tax & made a list of the items in our front room & then went into the kitchen & wrote down some items from there too. My wife was so shocked as we were unaware we even owed arrears for council tax, & because our council tax bill is in my name only, the guy left it that we should phone the council to verify our arrears & then contact them (bailiiffs) to arrange payment. For todays visit he has added a further £55.50. I have since looked at this years summary council tax bill which does shows £307 of arrears for last year. With the bailiffs fees i now owe £396.50. My question is.....can i pay the council direct & bypass the bailiff fees, if i do this can the bailiff still come for his fees. What worries me is that he has already gained access to my property & now knows my car. Please can someone advise where i go from here. Thanks in advance. I should of also mentioned that my wife never signed anything & all my possessions that were written down are easily viewed through the window.
  18. Thanks everyone for your replies. If he carries on to ignore them & their threats, will they eventually give up & move on to the next victim or do this 'crowd' actually take it all the way to court! Looks very much like the behaviour of PPC's to me. Buzby, yes he is under 18 & did get his phone back from the security guard. I'll pass on the info to him & tell him to ignore all letters for the time being! Thanks again.
  19. My nephew went into a very well known high street outlet, chose an item of clothing & decided to swap the price tag for a cheaper one. On approaching the till to pay, he came to his senses, replaced the item back on the rail & walked out of the store. He was approached by the security guard, who called him a few choice words, grabbed by the sleeve of his jacket, had his phone taken off of him & marched back into the store where he recieved the third degree from store staff & has been bannned from entering the store again. He has since recieved a letter from a company acting on behalf of the store, asking for a total of £130 for the security guards time & staff time dealing with the matter, but will be reduced to a lesser payment if paid within 10 days! Is this legally allowed to request a payment, what should his actions be? Does he need to pay it? Thanks in advance Mike.
  20. We bought our daughter a new Samsung Tocco Lite, a touchscreen mobile phone, & after only 3 weeks the screen has cracked & the LED has bled. This happened as she was using the phone to send a text, the phone was in no way dropped, banged or recieved accidental damage, the screen just went. We returned the phone to Phones for U, explained what had happened & were told 'she pressed it too hard' & we would have to pay. I knew before walking into the shop it was going to be a fight to get it repaired under warranty. Anyhow they sent the phone off to see if the phone would be covered under warranty & we recieved a call from them 1 week later to say the phone was out of warranty! My wife told them it was only 3 weeks old & she was asked to fax them the proof of purchase which she did straight away. The repair company phoned back within minutes of recieving the fax to say...Sorry the screen is not covered under warranty & we will have to pay £68 for repair. Is there anything i can do regarding the warranty, have i any rights to insist of a repair, or do i just swallow this & pay up. Thanks in advance...
  21. As already advised by Crem, Lamma & A127, just ignore them, make no contact & these bunch of [problematic] will give up & you'll hear no more! I had an 'invoice' from them in January for an alledged parking contravention in December, found this site & ignored everything sent by them & made no contact in any way, shape or form. All the letters arrived as expected, increasing amounts & threats of bailiffs & dca's. Last letter stated they were filing for court action early April with no further contact to me. Im confident in saying they have given up as i've not heard a thing since & to be honest i never expected too. So here is proof you can ignore them, dont give them another thought & relish in the fact 'You Never Got Scammed'.
  22. You could of also continued into Wickes & asked for the manager, made him aware of how much you 'were' going to spend, shown him the PPC & politely explained that you will now be taking your business elsewhere!
  23. If i owned a restaurant, or was manager of a big store such as Tesco, Wickes, Asda etc, i would be more concerned about my customers being driven away never to return due to [causing problems] 'parking charges'. Once bitten twice shy! Surely these big business's are being affected & losing thousands due to greedy PPC's whose only aim is to make a fast buck! Its about time these business's 'big bugs' attention is drawn to the harm these PPC's are causing their business!
