  1. I'm afraid to check my credit rating as that will update my info, and they may still be debts out there that are less than 6 years old
  2. PMSL What a great idea, charge them for trying to charge me. I like your way of thinking. I've sent them the following email I received a letter from some company called Lowell (who I have never heard of) asking if I had lived at a certain address. I checked the address and, realising that I hadn't ever lived there, no further action (there is no law saying I have to reply to such letters). Then you wrote to me about an account that I have never set up and a debt you say is owed on the account that I never set up, If its regarding the first letter that Lowell sent me, then it's to do with an address I have never lived at and therefore presumably someone else. On your letter you stated several ways in which I may contact you regarding the account. I have used one of those forms of contact asking several questions which the law states you have to answer, stating my name, address and the account number you put in the letter. It is worth noting that, until such time as you answer those questions and supply me with the requested information, you will have no legal right to collect any money that you or Lowell mistakenly believe that I owe you As for my date of birth, tell me what you think it is (that’s presuming that you have those details, and that you’re not just fishing for private information) and I will let you know if it's right, therefore enabling you to "establish if we have contacted the incorrect customer so we can correctly amend our systems". Please also note that I'm a busy man, and time for me equals money, therefore, should you continual to request correspondence with me before supplying ALL the requested information I shall have to charge you £10 per email or letter that I send you. As you are a new customer, and in light of your reviews on various internet search engines, I'm afraid that I must insist on payment in advance. This can be made by cheque to the following name and address, for which a reciept will be supplied
  3. Hi, lowell recently sent me a letter asking if I lived at a certain address in "wIles" I didn't, I lived at the same address in wAles (an important typing error on their part). So I ignored the letter. A couple of weeks latter I recieved another letter (This time from "RED") stating "lowell portfolio 1 ltd did not receive payment from you for your outstanding balance" I emailed red the following, along with my refrence number I have no record of oweing lowell portfolio 1 ltd any money, niether do I have any record of them asking me for money. Please can you provide the following infomation proof that I owe lowell portfolio 1 ltd money proof that they have passed this debt onto you what this debt is in respect of All corrispondence between myself, yourselves, lowell portfolio 1 ltd and (should this supposed debt stem from another company) All corrispondence between myself and that company in respect of this debt, proof that that company passed the debt onto lowell portfolio 1 ltd the date that I first owed this debt to lowell portfolio 1 ltd and (should this supposed debt stem from another company)the date that I first owed that company the money They replied asking for my name, address and date of birth. They know my name and address as they wrote to me, as for my date of birth, I refused to give this due to the risk of I.D. theft (I have no proof of who they are, just a letter and email). They have replied, stating who they are (but no proof) and finished with the following "Without this information I can no longer correspond with you by email. Therefore please call us on 0113 308 6035 or write to us at Lowell Financial, PO Box 164, Leeds, LS10 9EH" Am I right in thinking that A) I do not have to give them my date of birth B) untill they answer my questions, they can not take any futher action, e.g. ccj, baliffs, etc? Side note; I know for a fact that the debt they are chassing is past the 6 year limit, I just happen to hate these type of people aqnd enjoy costing them money
  4. I once got a letter from red ref an old phone bill. I knew it was past the date that they could claim it so I replied asking for details of all letters between me and the people I owed the money to. they replied with a letter saying something like "sorry, we contacted you by mistake". I've now (today) got a letter from lowell, asking if I once lived at another address, which I did. I'm not replying to it, just going to wait and see what happens next. I'll keep you all imformed
