  1. "A vehicle deemed to be causing an obstruction or a danger will be removed" - fair enough, I don't see how my car was causing an obstruction or danger though.
  2. I parked my car just before 12:00 am on a grass verge, next to single yellow line. Wheels were not on a side-walk no the street, I wasn't obstructing any other vehicles, gates, etc. There were other cars parked on the grass verge as well so that doesn't seem to be an issue, I was the only one who parked next to single yellow though. I came back to my car at 3:00 pm to notice is gone. Called the local council to find out it was towed away and I will need to pay £145. I collected the car on the same day and have been given the following (also the appeal form). I sent an email to the council asking for a photographic evidence but they haven't replied. I can understand the PCN, I only just found out that the yellow lines apply not only to the street but also side-walks, grass verges and so on. But why did the towed my car? On direct.gov website it says that it only happens if you have outstanding PCNs. "If the council wants to clamp or tow away a vehicle, they should issue a Penalty Charge Notice first. They should only clamp or tow away once they've made sure you are someone who's persistently broken the parking rules." http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/consumer_e/consumer_cars_and_other_vehicles_e/consumer_driving_and_parking_e/consumer_wheel_clamping_e/when_your_car_can_be_clamped_or_towed_away.htm On what grounds can I appeal? Do I even stand a chance?
  3. Thank you for the advice. The £1600 Santander wants to charge for the fraudulent funds made my girlfriend exceed her overdraft and since she ignored the collection team, the bank charged her £5 a day fine. Because of that she made an arrangement to starts repayments. The collection team could not separate her debt from the £1600 charge the bank is trying to enforce. I guess we will demand written explanation before making any further payments. Meanwhile, since we received the final response from Santander, we forwarded the case to the FOS.
  4. The money was in the account, it was not an issue of a check not clearing, it might be that the money was stolen - I don't know. The bank itself is not at loss so I don't see why they want to charge my partner. What I want is not being blamed for being a victim, when the "artist" can be handed over on a plate. Even if authorities can't catch them, they surely can shut the website down, remove them from the OFFICIAL register and not allow them to advertise on direct.gov.
  5. I already know it's a [problem], and I found it out the painful way. The question is what to do about it? Just grind teeth and pay up £1600? Can FOS be in our favour and cancel the readjustment fee? Or should we issue a county court claim to Techinservice? If so, under what legislation does it fall?
  6. Update: contacted companieshouse.gov.uk, explaining that the company in their register is committing a crime. They said that they can't get involved.
  7. Recently my partner replied to a job advert "Financial Services Officer". Basically the job was about receiving money trough Giro transfer into personal account and transfer them further using Western Union. The company issued all terms and conditions, invoices for transactions, they have a website which is still online and they are registered in the UK. My partner did two transactions for this company, for £1600 total. After that Santander locked her account due to suspicious activity. The company ceased contact after finding that out and Santander started investigation. No one ever contact my partner in regards to this investigation, no one asked for any documents nor details of her employer. It was just decided that her account will be closed and that she will need to pay a 'readjustment fee' of £1600 as the money was fraudulent. The bank recognises that she might not have been knowingly committing fraud but from their point of view she is held responsible. We appealed from the decision however the bank did not agree to re-investigate. No one seems to be interested, Police, Action Fraud, no one. Only Revenues registered a complaint against the fraudulent company, however their website and job advert still stands (tech-inserviceltd.com - beware!). What can we do?
