  1. Hi Guys, Ive been employed by the same company for 5 years now and out of the blue everyone has been given a new contract to sign. Myself and others have a few concerns and would be greatfull for any advice before signing. There are 2 additions in the new contract which are not in the old contract: 1: Right of search "The business reserves the right to carry out personal searches of employees in the workplace. They may be carried out at any time whilst an employee is in the workplace". I have nothing to hide and have no problem for my bag to be searched and pockets to be emptied out but do have a couple of questions. How far is a personal search allowed to go? Are they allowed to touch you? Am i allowed to have anyone with me? 2: Job Title/Duties "You are employed as a Housekeeper" "However there may be times when you will be asked to either temorarily or permanently change to an alternative job within the company". In times of holiday and sickness i dont mind helping out at work if they are short staffed in certain areas but can they permanently change my job title within the company and make me do something i did not apply to do in the first place? Any help at all would be greatfully received. I have not signed contract yet but they are pushing me to return it!
  2. Thank you for your detailed reply, after ringing HMRC again today they believe my employer may be responsible for not using the correct tax code I've been issued with. I will await there reply and let you know. Many thanks again.
  3. Thank you for your reply Job one Gross £7355.04 Tax Code 593L Job two Gross £3472.34 Tax Code OT
  4. Hi Guys any help greatfully received! I have just received a letter from HMRC saying for the 2nd year on the trott ive underpaid my tax, 2011-2012 by £779.80. For the 2010-2011 year i underpaid by over £1000. I have one job at 24hrs a week and one job at just 10hrs a week, im deducted tax in both jobs, i have been employed in both jobs for 4 and 5 years. My hours never change at either job. I get a tax code each year so assume my work places gets notified of the code and deducts the correct tax? I spoke to the wages department in both jobs after the first year this happened and they tell me they are deducting the correct tax from me. I have spoken to HMRC and they cant seem to find out where the problem lies and i now have to pay back the tax not paid. Anyone got any ideas please.
  5. Thank you for your reply. I totally understand what you are saying but shouldnt it be updated and show all the payments made since the account defaulted about 3 years ago? The last update on the account from Lloyds 09/11/09 saying i was 3 months in arrears which is fair enough but surely it should be updated? thank you
  6. Looking for some advice please. About 3 years ago i fell behind in my loan repayments and was referred to the "collection centre". An arrangement was set up for me to clear the arrears, this was cleared about 15months ago and my account was handed back to Lloyds. 6 weeks ago i applied for a copy of my credit report (i got turned down for a £10 a month direct debit) and see that Lloyds still have the account in arrears by more than 2months and it was last updated by them when the arrangement was set up. I rang the collection centre and they told me my account is no longer in arrears so they are no longer dealing with it and cannot help. They suggested i ring Lloyds which i did, i was passed over to 3 different people who said its nothing to do with them. I rang the following day and this time i was given an address to write to who they say are in charge of this sort of thing. I sent a letter by special delivery and it was signed for the following day, this was over 1 month ago and yet still no reply! Whats my next step? I have no idea! Thanks in advance.
  7. Final Update: Just to let you know the new owner of the company has been in touch with me via letter and has re-done my contract with the following ammended: Start date is now back to 4 years ago. And wages increase with Minimum Wage Regulations. many thanks for all your advice guys
  8. Thank you for the replies guys, Absolutley nothing has changed with the company apart from the 2 new owners (husband and wife). Ive had no P45. Ive written down some things i want to discuss with them about my contract and they have read them and are going to get back to me next week. I forgot to mention another point in my new contract and this was they have put in there "that they have no obligation to give me a pay rise". I get paid minimum wage, so therefore they have to comply with minimum wage increases dont they? Will not sign contract untill i can get into citizens advice. Thanks again
  9. Hi guys im new to this forum and im looking for some advice please. I have been working for a small company for nearly 4 years now and the company has just recently been sold as a going concern. The new owners have just given us all a new contract to sign cancelling our current contracts. It says in it that my employment with the company started 1 month ago (this is the date new owners took over) when i have infact been employed by the company for almost 4 years. The question is shall i sign it, or insist they put in my original start date with the company? Many thanks in advance
