  1. I knew this was the case with residential properties, however I thought it was different for businesses. This is a mixture of both a pub with living accommodation. All on one bill but two different site numbers.
  2. I am posting for a friend of mine. This is the situation she was running a public house with a partne, the relationship broke down in Apr 2010 and my friend left the premises, the partnership was disolved at this point however my friend ex carried on running the pub untill Oct 2010. When the partnership was dissolved my friend spoke to British Gas and informed them of this and e-mailed a copy of the Accountants letter stating she was no longer responsible for the electricity at the premises. In response to this she receive a bill from B Gas dated Dec 2010, which states balance from previous period zero, balance on account 769 in credit. My friend then thought nothing else of it, until this sat she received a letter from British Gas stating they had continually been writing to her and she owed £4,500. Upon speaking to B Gas she was told this was an error and she actually owes £2,000. They are saying the credit note should have gone to her partner as she left in Apr, but there is no way any money has been paid of the account in that short period as he subsequently went bankrupt. They are also saying this was for another account and the property had two meters which is incorrect asnd surely if this was the case it would be a different account number. She has no proof of what was paid prior to her leaving as the relationship ended badly and she cannot get access to the books. Any advice gratefully received.
  3. My father recently passed away leaving a will making me his sole beneficiary. Which included enough to pay legal and fumeral expenses and his property. However I have just found found out that my father had a Council Home Improvement Grant, and the application he signed stated that on disposal of the property (including in a will) within five years the entire amount had to be repaid. No amounts were mentioned and it was not witnessed etc. It stated that the charges would be lodged on the land registry, which has not been done. My father passed after 3 years, I have now received a bill for £33k (the total amount). I need to know whether they can do this or whether they can make me sell the house in order to repay the grant. I feel it is unfair as I intend going to live in the property, the work was completed 3 years ago and in some cases 4 and in my opinion and that of builder, electricians etc the work has not been done properly.
