  1. All the best with your claim - I'll follow it to see how you get on. In all dealings I've had with finance companies, Capital One have to be the most inefficient unhelpful company I've ever come across. We transferred several small-ish credit cards to them to consolidate - have never used the card for purchases and don't intend to and can't believe how much hassle we've had from them in the short space of time we've been with them.
  2. After posting last night that I hadn't received my money back, guess what - a cheque in the post today with a letter apologising! And to think I doubted them! The letter is from a company called Independent Telecom Customer Care Service - they apologise for the problems I have experienced with one of their clients text services, so I still don't know the exact name of the company who sent me the text. If it's any use to anyone else, their phone number is 0871 231 6604 and their email is [email protected]
  3. Well much to my surprise I still haven't received a cheque refund from the company who made the calls to my mobile - and they sounded such nice honest people too!!! Now that I can't even remember their name as I was in such a rage when I phoned them I don't think I've got much hope of getting anything back. Interested to hear how others get on with this though.
  4. I know this maybe isn't a claiming back charges threaed just now but hopefully will be soon. However I've had run ins with Cap 1 over the last few months which have had me tearing my hair out. Currently have c/card with Cap One and will shortly be sending off for info on charges made to the account (am currently dealing with a Nationwide one). However couple of months ago I missed a payment owing to a change in employment and the date my salary was paid. Cap 1 charged me £20 plus another £20 for unpaid DD, then Nationwide charged me £35 for the DD as well as it was due to be made out of my flexaccount. I manually made the Cap 1 payment over the phone to them, then the next month they applied to my building society for double the amount - the previous months and the current one. Of course I didn't have double the amount in the account to pay them so guess what, another £40 charge from Crap 1 and another £35 from the N/wide. I phoned their oh so helpful call centre in India to be told to write in to them which I did and they actually refunded all the costs as it had been their mistake. Next thing I know they've written to me offering to increase my credit limit by £2000 as I'm such a good customer!!!! What planet do these people live on???? Is it just me or are they staffed by total numpties???
  5. Hi - I've also started a claim against the N/wide and am also in Scotland so will keep reading to see how you get on. Best of luck
  6. Hi. Have recently had same problem with o2 PAYG. Received 'joke' text a few weeks ago and ignored it having no idea where it came from. Received another last week which totally wiped my phone of credit. Called o2 who advised it came from a company called Dialogue Communications. Called them who said they had passed my number onto another company. Called the 3rd company who could tell me I allegedly signed up for their premium rate service in Dec 05 - so I signed up in Dec 05 to get a joke sent to me in June 06 - I don't think so! I know that neither I or anyone else has subscribed to this company using my phone. Demanded my money back by cheque which they agreed to (will wait and see if it ever turns up). Reported them to ICTIS. o2 made goodwill gesture of putting credit onto my phone so I could text the word STOP to them.
  7. Thanks for reply. Will go ahead with claim and keep forum advised.
  8. Hi Am very new to all this and have started the ball rolling against the NW. My worry is that we have our mortgage with them, a loan, a credit card plus all direct debits paid off the Flexaccount which would be a headache to transfer to another account (salaries etc are paid into this account). Anyone else had any experience of mortgages, loans etc being recalled? I'd appreciate any info. This is a great site and well done to everyone who is taking on the banks.
  9. Hi Very new at this so hope I'm posting in right place. I have sent off letter requesting list of charges from Nationwide for one Flexaccount we have. However we also have mortgage, credit card and loan with them plus another Flexaccount we pay all bills from. If we go ahead, does anyone know if they are likely to close all our accounts with them - it would be major hassle to move all direct debits to another account. Thanks for any help given and good luck to all of you trying to get money back. This is a great site.

    Help please???

Hi. Have never posted before and not sure exactly what to do. Like many of you I've started the process of claiming back from the Nationwide. However I've only made a request on one account to see how it goes - if we go ahead are they likely to close down all our accounts? We have mortgage, credit cards and various accounts with them and it would be really difficult to move everything? Thanks for any help given and good luck to those of you claiming back. MelC
