  1. Yes, take it easy. If it's CCCS who have done a debt management plan for you - Cap 1 shouldn't be bothering you. If you can bear to, you could drop them a quick line saying you're very unwell and to stop hassling you. Keep a copy as evidence. If that's too much, just remember you've done your best and you're not well. Good luck, Ro!
  2. If you can show you've paid a F&F it is unfair practice for anyone else to be demanding payment. You should write to them reminding them of this and evidencing your full and final payment and threatening to tell the OFT this is unfair practice.
  3. Sorry, this is not for me.
  4. Sorry, this probably isn't the place - this is about debt collectors and banks asking for medical records and do you have to disclose them. Sounds like you need a lawyer, have you tried the CAB?
  5. Who is asking you to provide your son's medical records? Why are your son's records relevant to them? Is the debt his and you have power of attorney? Personally I would only provide personal records of this sort to a court - I'd now simply refuse to provide them to a DCA or a bank and invite them to take me to court - call their bluff. Who is asking for them - and why?
  6. Yes - don't give them the power they don't have. You don't ask people who owe you money for personal information of that sort - they'd laugh at you! Also can yo trust them with protected data? I've sent medical reports to a big name bank that happens to be where I live - I'm friends with several people there. They lost my medical reports and I hate to think any friends saw it just lying around! They don't respect them and don't deserve them. Don't play their games.
  7. Hi Pavidus, I hope you're finding your way through - especially as four children need you. It is depressing to be in debt. However, you can use that by getting your GP to give you treatment plus a diagnosis you can use to help your case. You need to use everything Also be kind to yourself: don't feel overwhelmed by the whole debt coming at you - it doesn't work like that. They're just individual debts dealt with by individual DSCAs - not full of the best brains, let's face it. Many of the ididYou call the shots - tell them no phone calls. Dispute debts that you think can be disputed. I was there: sick, a single mother and in £53k worth of debt. I ended up feeling much more powerful by fighting them with the legal means at my disposal - one letter at a time that I could cope with. You can find my book 'How I Got Ouf of Debt by Fighting the Banks at their Own Game - and paid just £2,300 when they were demanding £53,000' by Linda Franklin on my website by searching my name for the UK. Even if you don't go the whole hog like me, it will let you know you're not alone - and reassure you about how much power you do have just by using your legal rights. It's a game for them - make it a game for you, whereby you get stronger each day. That's best for you and your children, Linda
  8. If you are in receipt of DLA or ESA you can send that as it evidences a long term medical condition. The other thing you could do is ask your GP to write to you local authority to get you registered disabled. You can explain to him/her in a letter how your condition affects your day to day life adversely for speed and ease. There are no financial benefits from the registration so it generally easier to get than DLA etc and the GP should do it for free but - if you have a long term serious condition that affects your day to day life you are 'disabled' - and the card is proof of that. Judges do take it seriously.
  9. Have you told them you are suffering health problems and retired? You don't have to do them an expenditure form, you know. You could say you can only tackle one thing at a time due to your health and would they please do the PPI repayment - and then you can put your attention to the rest.
  10. I did some full and final offers that worked well - I only paid 10% of a £12k alleged debt to one. In fact I only paid £2,300 out of the £53k they were asking. I wrote the book after using this great site and realising it would help others if I pulled it all together. You can buy the book (How I Got out of Debt by Playing the Banks at their Own Game by Linda Franklin on my website and there are template letters there to help in other situations. Good luck! Linda
