  1. Hello I am hoping a Barclay Bank employee will be able to answer a question I have. I applied for a cash card acct with Barclay. I just wanted a basic acct with internet banking but no overdraft or other perks... because my credit rating is extremely poor didn't thnk I would qualify for a current acct. Anyway, I called and requested internet banking - told by the call centre that details would be sent via email (ie password ) in 5 days. Today I called up again and told there was no record of my request. Furthermore password details are sent via post and not email. Barclay stated this has now been posted out to me. Got home to find a letter stating I did not have a current account and therefore online banking is not an option on the type of acct I have. And to go to my local branch to discuss an upgrade. However I MANAGED to register online this evening and I do have access to my acct. I am a little confused! One minute I'm being told no online banking, yet I can logon and view my acct??? Any Barclay Bank employees shed any light on this query? Thanks.
  2. Thanks for replying BAE, I am posting my SAR via special delivery tomorrow. This time I will follow it through.....
  3. Hi Macca, I am in the same position as you - But my outstanding balance is over £2000:eek::eek:!! I too would like to start a claim against Cap1, but at the same time afarid they will demand monies owing - or worse cancel my credit card:( Have you made any decisions on what to do?
  4. Hi In your experience, have MBNA ever sent out a complete set of statements rather than a list of charges following a SAR? I personally prefer copies of statements.....

  11. Hello W Thanks for getting back to me and for your offer of help. I have spent a few days reading all the relevant posts but I guess I needed further reassurance:). That said, I wasn't aware that by starting my claim, Abbey cannot pursue me for the debt. That was my biggest worry. I will be sending off an SAR come Monday via Special/recorded del. I will keep the forum updated with any progress.
  12. Hi I am in 2 minds on whether to reclaim charges:confused:. I wish to reclaim charges Cap1 have applied to my card over the years. I now make regular payments but this has not always been the case. I am currently within my limit, but only just. I would like to keep my card for a rainy day - but afraid if I start the process of reclaiming charges, Cap1 will close my account:-(. Is anyone aware if Cap1 are closing accounts??? Thanks Columbo
  13. Hi, Can anyone please help with the above query? Thanks Columbo
  14. Hi For years Abbey have been my main current account, although I always had other accounts with other banks. Anyway I got into financial difficulties and ended up with a £2000 overdraft plus numerous charges. Abbey closed my account and their inhouse debt recovery started to pursue me. I made a few payments, then stopped paying altogether. I haven't heard from Debt Management & Recovery Services Ltd for almost a year, neither have Abbey contacted me. I would like to start a claim against Abbey, as I am certain the charges Abbey have applied to my account will drastically cut the overdraft. I am a little scared that Abbey will start to demand I pay off the overdraft (which I cannot afford to in one go) or worse take me to court!! I would be grateful if anyone could kindly offer some much needed advice and support! Columbo
  15. Hi Hadituptohere (great name!) Thanks for the advice. As promised I have fired off the relevant letters to both Vanquis and Cabot. With regards to the CCA request, when do I start counting the 12+2 days? Will it be from the date of my letter? What is the statutory time limit with regards to my (Vanquis) SAR request? Thanks Columbo
  16. Hello, I have a quick question regarding Vanquis/ cabot. Any advice wil be appreciated. I defaulted on my vanquis card - it looks like the debt has been sold to Cabot who are currently harrassing me..... I have yet to fire off the harrassment Ltr to Cabot - will do so tomorrow. Question is I intend on sending a SAR to Vanquis. Is there a letter I should be sending to Cabot? Is it worth requesting for the CCA from Cabot? Or perhaps a SAR to Cabot as well? I not disputing the debt with Vanquis - but some of it is made up of the usual charges/late fees which I would like to claim back and offset this against the debt. I should mention I had the card for approx 3 years. Regards M
  17. Can anyone please offer some advice. I really am desperate and do not know what to do nor do I really understand the letter. please help...
  18. Thank you CAT100 & Olives..... I have only just seen your offers of help.....much appreciated.
  19. I am not able to upload the letter received. I have no idea how to do this. I thought I could do it via photobucket.... Anyway the letter reads: Dear xxxx xxxxxxxx Account Number: xxxxxxxxxxxx Property address: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Because you are in arrears you have defaulted on the terms and conditions of your mortgage agreement. You are £xxxxx.xx in arrears. We have appointed a Law of Property Act (LPA) Receiver for the property. The LPA Receiver charges a standard fee of £1000.00. This fee will be added to your mortgage debt. Now that the LPA has been appointed they will manage the property. Control may not be handed back to you , even if the arrears are paid. The LPA Receiver will contact you. The LPA Receiver will arrange for an inspection of the property. If any urgent repairs are necessary the LPA receiver will arrange them. The cost of any repairs, and any associated costs, will be added to your mortgage debt. The LPA Receiver will also assess if any gas appliances need servicing and appoint a suitable contractor. Again the cost will be added to your mortgage debt. I must advise you we will charge £30.00 adminstration costs each month your account is in arrears. This amount will be added to your mortgage debt. I must also advise you that your credit rating has already been affected because your account is in arrears. This may restrict you from obtaining credit in the future. If you have need to discuss this letter please phone me on ........ Yours sincerely Customer Service. Can I please please please have some advise on what to do....

  21. Hello all, I have been reading posts over the last few weeks, trying to get as much info, not to mention the strenght to face my financial worries. I am in dire need of assistance - I do not know what to do and just hoping I can get some help from CAG. To cut a long story short, I have a mortgage with Mortgage express. I am have missed some payments and currently have approx £12000 in arrears. I have recently received a letter from them. I should mention this is a buy to let property and tenants have moved in. I could not afford to pay the mortgage on a single salary and a buy to let at the time seemed like a good idea...... I am trying to scan the letter.......
