  1. ooops it`s the pills I think!! As I was saying she agreed that I had tried to do other lighter duties over the past 4 years.

Capita then phoned again and asked me to go to London to see a Doctor. The last trip laid me up even more for thee days so I refused. I asked for a home visit but was told I could only have one of them if I was dying!! She got a fairly sarcastic reply.

She said she would speak to my boss to see if he could provide transport so I told her she wasn`t listening as transport was not a problem. Anyway phone went a bit quiet and I asked what would happen now. She said that they may write to my GP or Consultant which suited me or they may finalise my case!! I told her if they did that becuse I wouldn`t travel I would take tHem to court,MP etc etc. Got a medical release form a few days later for them to get a report from my GP. I am phoning the GP on Monday to see what she has written. Do you think I could ask for a copy?

  2. Thats right I applied on line for incapacity benefit or whatever it`s new name is and then phoned their helpline who said they couldn`t look at it until I received the SSP1 confirming that my sick pay had finished. Then they would speak to me over the phone and get more details.

Also waiting for a report to my employees from Capita who now do civil service ill health retirement referrals.

Gone are the days of staff assistance officers and local personnel units who knew what your job entailed. When I saw the Capita nurse for the initial chat she nearly fell off her chair and was gobsmacked when I related some of the incidents I had been involved in. A lot of these people don`t live in the real world and are probably tainted by dealing with people just trying to get out because they`re demotivated and fed up

    Cheers mate

  3. Only since thre 5th of this month bit DWP won`t speak to me about benefits over the phone after registerig onine until I have it.

Went on half pay on 9th and no pay on 31 May!

My boss has been pushing them. You`d think as a Government department they could produce one. Am I being unrealistic?

  4. Keefyboy I`m 52 and did do my own DLA but went through all the pitfalls with my wife and managed to get a copy of the requirements so they have detais of my worst day/night. Expect a refusal initially but will fight on!

robbond55 Thanks for that I live in Kent and have found talking to others that it can be a postcode lottery when dealing with Couty Councils. Unusually KCC is quite good although run by Tories, Others may disagree.

    Cheers

  5. Yes add me to the list. I have worked for the Government for 34 years the last 13 looking after my disabled wife whilst working very uncertain hours who I had to fight tooth and nail to get benefits for.

Now after an RTA in 2004 have finally had to apply for ill health retiremnt having tried for 4 years to cope and make adjustments (I used to be a very fit sportsman who caught drug smugglers for a living). I view my pending fight for benefits, pension etc as a challenge. At least it will keep my brain working . Have had one victory so far as I`ve managed after appeal to get a Blue Dsabled Badge. Let the game commence!!

  6. Thanks for that everyone. She`s home now and her damage is slight so the other party may not bother (hope) Should I inform my insurance company anyway?

Yes she is a very honest girl and hates injustices and is not afraid to challenge people who do wrong. When she was 14 2 boys walked into McDonalds and really hurt another boy. Not only did she try to intervene which I explained to her was pretty dangerous but is the sort of thing her mother and I would do,she had no hesitation in giving a witness statement identifying the boys as she knew them but was prepared to go to court but fortunatly they went guilty.

  7. Hi everyone. I feel a bit stupid asking this but my 18 year old daughter has just phoned in tears because she has scratched a parked car`s wheelarch.

She says their is little damage and she knocked on doors and found the owner. She has a £500 excess as a named driver on my fully comprehensive policy. Their is no damage to her car so I won`t be making a claim.

Do I have to pay the first £500 of the other persons claim?

I`ve told her to go back and take a picture of the damage so it can`t be exaggerated.

Sorry if I seem naive but have full protected no claims with nil excess and lucklily have been fortunate with car accidents

    Thanks

  8. Hi everyone. Success!! Got a pristine blue badge with my ugly mug on it this morning. GP showed me what she put initially which she maintains should have been adequate. She sat and wrote a really strong letter in front of me and faxed it off.

One battle won now ro DLA,IB,Council Tax,ill health retirement before the war is won!!

  9. Agree entirely with Skonk. The Medical Advisor is paid for these reports and they are assessed by Civil Servants initially of a low grade who I am sure have performance agreements which reflect their turn down rate! Do treat it as your worse day and say you feel like you do 7 days a week. If you say 6 because you are brighter on say Saturday when you look forward to for arguments sake the football on tv this will go against you. They will forget about the other 6 days.

They play their games with us so we must do the same.Good luck!

  10. Hi

My wife has been ill for 12 year with CFS and other related problems. A year or so ago the GP notes had Fybromyaligia in them so I asked about this and she linked the two together! My wife is in constant right side pain and takes a concoction of tablets including Oromorph. She is 43 and up until she got sick was very successful at work. She regularly gets pneumonia and blood clots despite having jabs etc. This is a shortened view of her condition. Also I was unaware you could get a blood test for Fybromyalgia. Cheers

  11. Thanks for all your interest. Submitted further letter from GP and still waiting to hear. Had to go to Asda`s `after it had snowed and was icy. Place was packed so had a bit of a slippery nervous walk. Once again disabled pays full, some displaying some not! I think it`s a sign of the times and shows total lack of respect. I see people park in the mother and toddler bays with no kids. Struggle as I might I refuse to do this. What a world eh!

  12. Irwin Mitchell in Yorkshire. Up til now I`ve been dealt with by a legal executive but have asked that a Solicitor takes a lead. I`ve also asked about the MIB complaints procedure but will hold off on that if they may be vindictive. The LE keeps banging on about the medical evidence which I accept but I keep saying about previous offers and dosn`t this indicate that they agree there is a claim but not how much. As i`ve said they offered me £2200 really early and my wife settled for £4000.
