  1. (I'm assuming that the good people of Roxburghe are watching this thread, BTW!) Hello, I have just this week recieved a letter from these characters regarding parking issues that happened in 2012. I'm not going to give too many details as I would rather my case was not able to be identified because of the possibility of you-know-who watching! They are offering me a chance to pay, in the absence of which they will consider legal action against me. Apparently their solicitors have also written to me but this letter is the first I've heard of any problems. Usually I would ignore these people, but given the threads regarding court cases I thought I should get ahead of the game. They request that I phone them to find out how much I need to pay to avoid legal action. They suggest that I do not ignore the letter as it is in my best interests to pay. What do you recommend as a good next step? N.B. I'm happy to defend this should court papers be issued, as the place the so-called infrngement tool place was free parking anyway and blah blah blah. Thanks!
  2. It's £78 for not having a ticket displayed in a car park they were controlling.
  3. Hello, As usual, I ignore the compaines like Parking Eye and so on, and nothing has ever happened...until now! I had a letter (normal post, not recorded) from gpb who say they have "been instructed to consider legal proceedings to recover the sum due". This is the first time I've had a letter from solicitors and I'm slightly nervous. Any advice appreciated.
  4. Are these tickets any different to the usual unenforceable nonsense? A work colleague was ticketed (stuck to the windscreen stylee) a few days ago and, whilst I know the usual through the post tickets are rubbish, what about this? Should she stick to the "just ignore it no matter what" routine? It was in a Sommerfield car park, by the way. Thanks MArtin
  5. We had one of these things for Aldi in Bangor. Ignore them, don't even contact them and they will go away. They sent us two letters and a couple of hefty threats that came to nothing, zero, zilch.
  6. My friend got a PCN from these clowns for going over time at Mucky D's. Am I right in assuming that it has no basis in law and that if she ignores it, they will give up and go away? She has not responded to them. Is this just the usual [problem] a la Parking Eye, and are there any special tricks they use that I should look out for? Thanks, Martin
  7. After being sent an email that said that I had to pay up and it was tough luck, I elevated the issue through the complaints procedure. I pointed out that since I had never used the account, and had never received emails from them about the matter, I would like them to waive the amount. The agreed to this and have cleared the balance and closed the account as I requested! This appears to suggest that ticking the "I agree" box doesn't carry any weight. Good old Smile!

  10. Well, that was easy! Why not say that the first time round? Many thanks for your helpful reply.
  11. For the same reason that, say, Parking Charge Notices have no meaning. Do you have an answer to the question, Mr Shed?
  12. Strictly speaking, does ticking "I agree" (or whatever the wording) have any meaning? I signed up to a Co-Op account with monthly charges four years ago. I have never used the account and have never heard from them until a letter arrived telling me that the monthly charge was going up to £12. I am >£400 overdrawn and I am not happy! Thanks, Wimberry:?
  13. It's an internet only account. Having never used it, I never felt the need to check it out! Cheers, Wimberry
  14. Strictly speaking, does ticking "I agree" (or whatever the wording) have any meaning? I signed up to a Coop account with monthly charges four years ago. 15. Hello, I have lookd for other threads on this topic but may have missed them. I opened the abouve account four years ago. I have never used it. I have never received emails from smile about the account. However, a few weeks ago I got a letter telling me that the monthly charge was going up to £12. WTF?!? was my first reaction. I phoned, and discovered that I was overdrawn by £440! They kindly refunded half of that, but are refusing to do anything about the rest of it. Had I been aware of the monthly charge I'd never have signed up. Apparently me ticking the box on the sign up form means that I was completely aware of the T & C. What are my options? Thanks, Wimberry
  16. Really, don't pay. I haven't! Check out my "Combat Blog": http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/parking-traffic-offences/156986-parking-charge-notice-parking.html
  17. I am no expert, but because the ticket was issued by the council you might not have much luck. Hope someone else can help you!
