  1. Not on my 2 auctions no. I started with a low opening bid and was amazed at what they sold for. The starting prices are actually higher on the auctions of some professional sellers though. They are inavariably on 'buy it now' fixed price format. Here's one of countless examples. A Logitech keyboard on Amazon at £119.99: Logitech diNovo Media Desktop Laser: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo Then do a search on Ebay for that item and you get the following results: Logitech diNovo Media Desktop Laser, Computing, Keyboard Mouse Bundles, Keyboards items at low prices on eBay.co.uk Excluding the foreign sets, which no one wants, and a couple of individual units sold by private sellers you will see the prices from the professional sellers range from £133.95 to £175.06 with p and p on top in many cases. I compared prices between Amazon and Ebay 18 months back when I bought a set, not that Amazon are always cheapest, and again just recently when looking for a Xmas present for someone. It was exactly the same scenario. If they didn't make money they wouldn't be there. I felt a bit guilty about two of my auctions selling for more than I paid, but if I told the winners before they paid they might not have paid and I didn't have time for that. If I told them after they paid they might have got shirty thinking I was being cheeky and left me negative feedback or something! It wasn't my fault they bid what they bid. I suppose I could have told them after they left me positive feedback, but you can't go through every scenario in life being a complete Serpico. I try to do the right thing by others, but you can't babysit people every second. If it ever happens again i'll send the winner a polite message recommending they look at Amazon or shop around online after positive feedback is left.
  2. You have got to be having a laugh? I don't think there would be many on CAG against that viewpoint and neither am I. Please explain your logic as to how the Supreme Court not giving the OFT a win this time, but giving them a win next time, would have any bearing on how rapidly the refunds are applied? That is a different issue entirely. Anyhow, this is what should have happened: 1. Supreme Court give the OFT a win. 2. Banks come clean. 3. Government gets involved in reconciliation between banks and consumers and investigates the banks with honesty. 4. The overpaid banking cartel is halted for good and common sense is applied as to how and when refunds will be given. 5. We all move on happily with a fair financial system, in terms of consumer banking anyway, and all this BULL**** is forgotten! I know why that isn't happening, which boils down to one word - CORRUPTION, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar or seriously deluded.
  3. 'Anything' that doesn't suit them is a misinterpretation of some sort or another... If there was one law that suited them in one manner and also suited them in another manner, but the two manners were mutually exclusive, then they would be furiously banging away on their calculators to see in which manner the law made them the most profit. They would then declare with authority that it was 'right' and 'just' that the law be applied in that way...
  4. The good old C.S.A. eh? We should all go home and just leave it to them to sort everything out...
  5. Is she really 'missing' or is this a bit of fun? I hope Tilly is well. Never met her, but she always seemed very nice.
  6. But if the plan is to get all our money back, then what's the difference to getting it back by being angry? Getting it back with a legal plan would still wreck everything that you just have just warned against. Anyhow, you'd have more chance of getting it back by marching. I can tell you that for nought. If we did all march and laid down the law to them I wouldn't expect it all back at once anyway. Maybe you were thinking the same way about getting it back with a legal plan? Bit by bit? The key point I am making is that the bull**** and lies have to stop. They are still charging us as we speak for God's sake. How are we ever going to get anywhere if they still aren't being honest with us? Why can't we all speak the truth? It can only point towards intent for further deceit. Or do you think otherwise?
  7. I don't need to google anything. If you are telling me the banks have foregone a business model to make less money and subsequently not returned to the more profitable business model at a high rate of knots I KNOW that's a big pile of stinking BULL****. How about you don't be lazy and exercise some basic common sense? Please! I heard he turns green and his biceps grow very big!
  8. I think you got that the wrong way round and meant to say they get more money through the charges! Interest foregone? Furthermore, the 'Robin Hood in reverse' argument the Supreme Court came up with is nonsense. Well, in the sense of the poor subsidising the banking of the rich. They made all their profits quite well through interest without charges. The poor only subsidise 'greater' profits for the bankers with charges. Current account fees are simply not necessary for the bankers to make a profit. They could well make greater profits if they cut some of their own grossly inflated wages though...
  9. Watch it and think... YouTube - The War on Terror. Lies and Deciept - 1/2 YouTube - The War on Terror. Lies and Deciept - 2/2
  10. I have twice bought stuff on Amazon and then flogged it unwanted for some reason or another. They both sold for more than I paid for it on Ebay. Some people see high street prices and just use Ebay for online shopping thinking it's the cheapest.
  11. I speak for myself, not for everyone. Saying that, I am confident of my stance and hope people agree with me. Bad loser in the sense that we lost fairly, NO. Bad loser in the sense that we lost unfairly, YES.
  12. Yes, but to be clear, there really is no such thing as free banking. Just in case anyone had any doubts.
  13. If it is never in credit you aren't using it and if it is in overdraft they are making money through a rate of interest.
  14. Well, for starters there is no such thing as 'free banking'. They make money by having our money. This is a hard fact, as banks existed before these charges existed. There's my tuppence worth.
  15. They didn't shut down a dead end, they decided it was a dead end and made it a dead end. It wasn't a dead end until they got their grubby little paws on it. I maintain they that they cynically did so under undemocratic pressures. Furthermore, like what they thought the ECJ would have done had any bearing on their decision? I don't think so. Pointing out 'another way' was just a smokescreen to try and protect themselves from biting criticism.
  16. I wasn't turning on you. Just saying it how I see it.
  17. Look, first off the banks are STILL charging us and bull****ting to us. This isn't acceptable is it? The crazy thing is EVERYONE in the country knows it's bull****! The Supreme Court have not been helpful at all. They are BENT and haven't virtually stated they think the charges are unfair at all. That really is nonsense. The OFT case was sound and even if the Supreme Court had sided with the OFT it wouldn't have meant £24 billion of instant refunds. All the Supreme Court has done is deliberately mess things up. The public have common sense, unlike the banks, and would accept a rational and fair solution to this whole affair. We won't get a rational and fair solution until the banks come clean and our government gets involved. We are lucky some of our County Court judges aren't BENT and are still pressing ahead for us. We are yet to see how widespread this is. Neverending court cases with costs beared by the banks might actually force some real change.
  18. I feel for you. We had a £600 bill this year, which is more than usual, and that's with advance notice! £1600? I'm amazed you haven't had an itemised bill as it is.
  19. They should bill you for the previous year so you don't get nasty shocks! That's how we get billed. I can't comment on the specific company that does your work. However, I know there are a lot of rip off management companies around. You need to stick your nose in and figure out exactly what is going on. Speak to your neighbours too. Figure out how the company is selected. Look at the list of work done and the prices charged. You have a right to an itemised bill. Get someone to watch them carrying out annual maintenance work. They should be informing you when they are coming. If you aren't happy, then complain.
  20. How much was that again? How much? TWENTY FIVE POUNDS. I invite you to stick your name on the 'March To Action' thread.
  21. We pay in monthly installments. I'm stunned that you aren't able to. It might be worth a go writing to them and trying to come to some arrangement. Can you just clarify whether it is a council worker who originally assesses the work that needs doing?
  22. We are becoming more and more like the U.S.A.. Labour and the Tories are just 2 sides of the same coin. The Labour Party should hang their heads in shame not sorting out these bank charges. It's disgraceful. Labour Party my arse. I was thinking today, it's just going to go round and round in circles. Either the County Courts will start paying out and the banks will keep charging anyway, which gets us nowhere really; the OFT may take a second case and win, but will still allow rip off charges (reduced a bit); the County Courts don't pay out en masse and the OFT loses a second test case (disaster); or we take the bull by the horns and demand action from our government. It's the only option and it's clear in my mind. If this is going to happen it needs millions of us to get involved up and down the country. We need peaceful marches in every town and city. It's time for the banks to come clean. People are so docile nowadays I wonder if it is even possible. :( I think there are like 10 of us on this thread so far, but it's a start! The site team need to back this and hook up with the other bank charges sites. Then everyone on every site needs to spread the word on every forum, blog, social networking site and chat room they frequent, as well as using all possible media outlets. We will stand a chance then. EDIT - There are 16 of us that have stood up and said we'd march so far. Come on Bankfodder, Dave and the Site Team! Martin Lewis looked up for really doing something. He has great media connections i'm sure. Let's do something!
  23. Firstly, I think this should be in the Council Tax section. You will probably get the best help there. As to your predicament, I can at least suggest asking to pay installments. Are you sure that option isn't available to you? It does sound like you have been ripped off a bit on the work. The Council assessed the work that needed doing and had companies bid for it or what?
