  1. I'd hope they'd put some pressure on Lowells. It's not like I'm leaving any ambiguity to them to decide whether what they have sent would be enforceable, because I haven't even got that far yet. I've got a SAR with Barclaycard at the moment just incase they do get something enforceable so I can dispute the balance as I know it is made up of charges along the way. That was hassle enough to get Barclays to actually sign for the thing, two were never delivered so I had to use Special Delivery to force them too. It covers two bank accounts and what this debt came from.
  2. Thanks. When I get home I'll sort out a fact sheet of sorts with everything in chronological order so it's easier to exlain exactly what deadlines have passed, when letters have been signed for etc when I speak to Consumer Direct. What exactly will Trading Standards do once it has been referred to them, ie how are they going to get Lowells off my back?
  3. Despite having a letter regarding telephone harassmant and being over two months over the 12 day period, I have just received a text telling me I must call them urgently today. As of yet, I still haven't received a reply from my complaint or received my CCA. I've only had one letter reminding me I have an oustanding amount and a text message now. Will that be sufficient to go straight to Trading Standards with?
  4. I had a call from them shortly ago, I asked to speak to the admin side when the phone monkey was trying to bully me into a payment. After being on hold for about ten minutes I've been promised a call after some one has spoken to their team leader. No call back yet. I'm not going to hold my breath.
  5. Well over the 30 days now matey. We're looking at about 60 perhaps.
  6. Ok, they're well overdue my complaint letter now and I've not even had an acknowledgement from them about it. What should I do now?
  7. Just rang the court and they'd sent the forms back but had forgotton to indicate what they were going to do. Technically they are out of time now and I could apply for a judgement, but I think I'll wait for them to submit their acknowledgement. No point making this more complicated than it needs to be, and by the looks of things so far I'm not up against much
  8. And this might be worth a read too.. Codemasters sets legal dogs on file-sharers | The Register
  9. You could throw this telephone harassment letter at them to get the calls to stop: Harassment by telephone - Consumer Wiki And add a section to it that you are not the person they are looking for. If they persist, keep a log of the calls and times to hit them with.
  10. Do you a source for this, because I can regulary download 2-6GB outside of the 4pm-9pm slot with no throttling at all?
  11. If you don't have a program to write cd's with honey5, then I'd thoroughly recommend this program to do it. When you download Ubuntu it'll be in a .iso file, which is an image and you need to burn it correctly to work, this program takes the effort out of it and most importantly it's free: The Official ImgBurn Website Then you'll be set to go!
  12. It's horses for courses. I play a lot of games, along with a lot of resource intensive work on my computer and I've found Vista to be more than satisfactory for me. I could not step back to XP if I wanted to now my machines all have 4GB/RAM. I am more than happy with the added protection that UAC offers Vista over XP also. But as I said, horses for courses. No one is right, no one is wrong, it's choice
  13. Download Ubuntu | Ubuntu Just need one blank CD and a program to burn discs with and you're away!
  14. SP1 really does make Vista excellent. My new project is Windows Server 2008 as a workstation, I'm just waiting for the software from MSDN to do it 8-)
  15. If we go by calender days then their 14 days it up today and I've not heard squat from them. What's best to do now? Sit back and wait for something from them now I've made attempts to be reasonable with this?
  16. You'll have to schedule your downloading outside of the catchment window for traffic management then, remember it's between 4pm and 9pm and you will be shaped for 5 hours from when you hit the trigger..
  17. Tomorrow is the last day they can acknowledge the claim, haven't heard a peep from them yet, so at 4pm tomorrow I'll be contacting the courts to see what's what
  18. Just a thought from this paragraph; Should this information not be kept for six years from the termination of the account, as per all other information? Is there any rules that allows them to discharge information in such a way? I'm going to go for a full SAR and seek clarification from the ICO on this point. It might give me another foothold against them.
  19. Yeah you should be able to contact the manufacturer of the laptop and ask for them to send out the recovery disc which will restore Vista as it was preloaded.
  20. I'm still waiting to make aquantences with Red. Still no CCA for me, but at least they've stopped calling me now
  21. When they say "this call is being recorded for training and security purposes" you should retort with; "I too am recording this call to ensure your compliance with OFT guidelines for debt collection and related legislations" That should certainly put the willies up whoever you speak too
  22. Your bank will inform the direct debit originator when the direct debit agreement you have with them is cancelled.
