  3. Hi there, i sent my letter prelim, and i recieved a letter today, not even acknowledging my my claim and just quoting loads of crap from OFT, and their policies. so i have sent a LBA today, can anyone let me know what experiences they have had with amex. cheers mcgremlin

  8. Hi there, I called on the number mentioned on the forum - 0800 952 5150, and was told to call Specialist Support back between 9am-7pm on 0800 952 4914. I gave them some speel about being passed from another dept, and that i was looking for my statements even though my account was closed. Although grumply she sorted it out for me with no fee. so just waiting for statements now. bring it on, think i am owed about £500 McGremlin

  13. Hi i recieved a letter back from halifax today following my prelim letter. they state under the financial service authoritys rules they have 8 weeks to investigate. i am now going to wait till tuesday and then send the first LBA letter. has anyone else had this letter with a little leaflet? cheers mcgremlin
  14. still no news from halifax, and the wait continues.........................zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  15. Following on from jaxads comments i strongly suggest you follow the timetable and use the letters etc on here. Also why are you only settling for £1200 when they took more than that from you, go for the full amount..... its your money their execs are using to sun their arses in the carribean!
  16. Thanks jaxads, yeah i did find them quite helpful, i have other credity cards to tackle, but i am gonna do them one at a time. anyhows will let you know how it goes! Mcgremlin
  17. Hi there, i recieved my statements from the bank after phoning them up. They only charged £5 for all my statements for the last six years, and yet they charge £30 for 'their costs'. I have totalled my charges and it came to £2021. i sent the premlim letter on tuesday 13th february 2007. so i am just waiting for them to tell me to bog off! Will keep you posted. McGremlin
  18. to be honest i dont think you stand a chance. if that went to court the judge would agree with the bank on the money owed. they would agree with the charges against you though but they would ask you to pay the over draft minus the charges that they levied onto you.
  19. i think if you owe them money then you need to pay it back. you cant just have the money for something else. plus it will affect your credit rating. just a thought.
  20. Hi there, i have recieved my statements and have totalled the amount. can you tell me where to send the prelim letter to, if anyone has the address/ cheers mcgremlin
  21. thanks thats great, has anyone got the address for the data controller for the halifax bank? cheers mcgremlin
  22. Hi there everyone, thanks for having me. I knew all along these charges were obsurd and for years i complained and asked them directly how they could justify the charges. My situation was basically i went travelling for a year an did not set up online banking therefore my finances were not managed properly. Over the course of this year and the year or so after i estimate i incurred approximately over £1500 in charges. (at least) I guess what i am getting at is i am wondering how to start the ball rolling. any help from people who have already had the experience would be greatly apprecieated. Cheers, McGremlin
