  1. Thanks MSA I'll send my LBA to the address you have given with a copy of the reply to the prelim attached,i guess that way they can liase between themselves and london cant blame leicester or vise versa for any delays. I've decided to wait the full 14 days before sending the LBA then i know they have a minimum of 28 days notice of any action that i take and i can never be classed as unreasonable should it end up in court. Please correct me if i'm wrong MSA (or anyone else for that matter)!!! PS Is anyone else on the verge of divorce because this site is so addictive and engrossing!!!!! My OH says that if Barclays dont see me in court she will!!!! (her bark has always been worse than her bite!!!!) Cheers guys Oz
  2. Advice required please guys!! Last week i sent a prelim letter and a copy of the charges spreadsheet to barclays. Today i have received a pretty standard letter from the saying that: "they are sorry about the level of service i feel i've had bla bla bla. We are looking into it and will be in touch by 21st Feb 07. If i want to ring here's the number" In my view they had 14 days (upto 7th Feb) to respond to the prelim letter. They have responded but not to my satisfaction and i want to stick to my timings not there's, so do i show good grace and wait until 07/02/07 before sending the LBA or go ahead and send it now? Also, when i receieved my printouts via an S.A.R - (Subject Access Request), they came from Leicester. That is the address i sent my prelim letter to, and where i got my response from. From reading many threads on this site, i've noticed people are using the HQ Address in London, do i send my LBA to London or leicester. My thought is for continuity stick with Leicester but i'm wide open for your thoughts guys. Thanks guys Oz
  3. There is a person on this forum called The Watchdog, she runs a company who give advice and actually deal with bailiff firms all for free. Find a post that she has written, click on her username and i'm certain her website address is listed there. I've looked at the website before and loads of good info in it. If i knew how to put the link in here i would!! Sorry and good luck. The Bailiff Watchdog - Managed to work out how to do it!!

  6. Jon Cris Was just being the diplomat mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think my thoughts are laid out plainly enough!!! (Spent 7 great years at Hamworthy Poole Dorset)
  7. As an outsider looking into this long and at times heated debate! May i ask a question and make an opinion! When someone assumes the job title "Bailiff" why does it affect the brain into thinking that they are 8ft tall hard as nails and built like Garth, they're quite similar to Bouncers and Doorman i find in that respect? Being a soldier back in the early 90's as a young soldier we used to get bailiffs turning up at the camp gates all the time. Normally coz the lads hadnt paid council tax while doing 6 months in Bosnia or the Gulf but the council were always too thick to understand. When the said bailiffs used to turn up at camp i remember them using every crap line and bully boy tactic under the sun to try and gain entry to camp.Every time the gate gaurd would take great pleasure in politely telling them that they had no authority to cross into camp and to do one, with a gentle reminder about tresspassing on MOD Property and what Rules of Engagement were!! It was worth paying to see most of the time!! My advice to anyone out there having to deal with Bailiffs, Do not be intimidated by them, its all bravado, put them in a REAL enforcer type scenario like the lads in Iraq do everyday and the vast majority would have a brown trouser moment. The standard issue MAX and PADDY bomber jacket is only for there ego, look beyond it, and more than anything try and keep your cool and be really polite. We found they didnt like that coz they are meant to be big and tough and showing you how menacing they are!!! Law enforcers??? go and train enforcing the law in Baghdad then i might have some respect for the profession, see how far strongarm tactics get you in that environment, what you would learn is to treat others as you expect to be treat yourself. Yes i know the whole trade is not bad, but you all get tarred with the same brush, so self regulate and get rid of the bad eggs or are they whats needed to keep the "Image" going? It would have to be a very brave or stupid bailiff who turned up at my door and did not show the utmost respect for me, my family and my property. Never is there an excuse for not having common decency and manners, maybe some should remember that.
  8. Hi Paul Dean Just read all your thread and its been an inspiration to me!! Have just sent a prelim letter and Schedule of charges on behalf of my mother in law so i guess your thread is now gonna become a regular reference point for me!!! Well done mate
  9. Falcom, Laineybelle Thanks very much guys, the letters have just gone via recorded post. I was sure i had done everything as per this sites laid out format, guess i just needed a confidence boost! Thanks again guys.
  10. Hello Guys You guys are giving me great heart to pursue this on behalf of my mother in law. Story so far: She walked into her local bank and asked for last 6years statements. 3 days later they arrived in the post from Customer Services at Leicester. They debited £5 from her account for doing this. I've spent 2 weeks going over this site reading all i can. I've done her Prelim Letter and a schedule of charges. On her statements it doesn't specify what the charge is for, it just states PAID REFERRAL 1@ £20/£25/£30. Does it matter that i cant specify what each charge is in relation to? The spread sheet has added all this upto £1510. I have deleted the 8% interest column at this stage. Am i on track so far guys before i post off the Prelim Letter and copy of Schedule of charges? All guidance gratefully accepted
