Can anyone please advise if there is a 'higher authority' at Amazon UK? I have been getting really poor service from Amazon over recent weeks with deliveries either being really late or not arriving at all and yesterday I had a parcel where the contents of the tub inside the outer box had leaked. I have been contacting their customer service and their social media representatives but they are not in the least bit interested and simply keep sending me round in circles. I just wondered if anyone knew of a way of contacting someone who might help? I use Amazon Prime because for me, it is a convenience. Unfortunately with all the recent problems and messing about, it's now far from that. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your help. Mum in Law has been back in the care home a few days now. Can you advise where I should be expecting a letter from, is it the NHS?

I hope I'm in the correct section of the forum for help and advice on Continuing Health Care. My elderly Mum in Law has been in a care home for some time and her fees have always been covered by her pension with a top up from myself. Recently she had a couple of falls in the care home with the last one resulting in a stay in hospital. During a visit to see her, I was told she now has a brain tumour and not expected to live for more than a couple of months. Her Doctor explained he had done a Fast Track Assessment for Continuing Health Care. Mum in Law is now back in the care home with a special bed and being looked after well by the staff, one of who mentioned I would not have to pay any more. I wasn't sure if that meant any longer or any extra. As everything is getting a bit confusing and there is so much to take in at this time, before I ask the staff in the care home, can I ask if anyone knows about Continuing Health Care and who pays for it?

Power Of Attorney - Advocate or Welfare Deputy

Thanks for the help Scott, really appreciated. When you mention "asking if they could take over the role, why they asked I don't know and wasn't to keen on them doing this so I refused" this is the feeling and worry I have. Everything seems to be about money. -

None whatsoever HB. She has a few pounds in a bank account but that's all I'm afraid to say. The care home takes almost all of her pension apart from the small amount she's left with as her personal allowance. -

Wow! Now that I've sat down, I can't believe the fees they charge. Not sure if the care home will pass the fees on to me but that'll be another problem. -

Thanks for the help BazzaS. Is there anywhere you know of where I can read a bit more about what is involved with the Court Of Protection, such as costs and time constraints? Since we had the sudden problems with Mum in Law, we have looked into our own sons have Power Of Attorney for us and the costs are very high from what I can gather from my solicitor. -

Power Of Attorney - Advocate or Welfare Deputy

Thanks for taking the time to reply HB, really appreciated. My Mum In Law is in the care home suffering with dementia which all happened so quickly, we just didn't have chance to apply for Power Of Attorney. -
My Mum In Law is in a local care home and today I received a letter from the home asking for a copy of the Power Of Attorney for her, which we do not have. The same letter also stated that if we do not have Power Of Attorney for her, the home would look into appointing an Advocate or Welfare Deputy through the Court of Protection. Can anyone please advise what this is at all? I do not want to visit the home to talk about the letter without first being at least aware of what it all means. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Pensions and Care Homes

Thanks for all the replies, they are really appreciated. As has been suggested, I'll wait for the contact from my local Age UK advisor and see what they can tell me, hopefully. I'll know a lot more after that. As the dementia accelerated so quickly we have had little or no chance to do anything about MiLs affairs. We now need to get the Power of Attorney to try and get what bit of saving she has from her bank. These she will need to spend on what "niceties" are available in the care home, a few new clothing items and such like. Thanks again for all the help.
