  1. Hi everybody, May I start by saying that I used to get my electric from Powergen and my gas from British Gas and the charges were around £270 per quarter for electric and approx. £140 per quarter for the gas which I paid by DD every month without fail and no problems. Why the thread you may ask? Well around November last year I was constantly bombarded by telephone canvass calls from Npower promising me that if I switched supply to them they would save me pounds. At first I resisted totally because I was ok, but the calls were relentless to the point where I said that if you could guarantee that you will be cheaper and provide the same service I would give it a go. The rep from Npower assured me that they would save me money and so I switched. I must say at this point that I sent them previous bills from my former providers and they came to read the meters so they were fully aware of my rate of usage and what i had been paying. All was well untill I received my first bill which to my horror was £740 for the quarter which is approx. £330 more than I had been paying previously. Of course I tried to contact npower and after going through the normal long drawn out wait and endless automated crap on the phone I eventually got to talk to someone about my plight. No interest or concern was shown by the npower rep i was talking to and like some demented repeating automoton she kept on saying that. " well you have used that many units and you have to pay". I told her rather curtly that I wasn't paying that much and i thought it must be cheaper as i was promised. She couldn't help and so passed me on to some other bod, { Zzzzzz another long wait and condecending messages of how important I was }. Eventually i got to speak to some other chap and when he realized how adamant i was that the bill would not be paid he said he would put the account on hold untill he had spoke to the person responsible for selling me the contract and try to resolve the situation. At this point i told him that i was prepared to pay an amount equal to what i used to pay as a gesture of goodwill untill the matter was resolved, he said this wasn't needed and not to worry or do anything untill i was contacted again. Nothing was heard for a few days untill i got a threatening letter from their collections department demanding payment or they were sending people in to cut me off. I have since gone back to British gas who say they will supply me even though i am in dispute with npower but i am seeking advice on what to do with the npower situation. SOME HELP PLEASE. Regards Seamstress
  2. Thought about that too but heard that route is pretty slow ? Do you think i should stop making payments untill they fullfill my request?
  3. I agree, i think that i have a right to request information on me personally via the SAR application, but do you think i should take them to court to enforce their compliance?
  4. Hi there, the SAR was requesting information from several business accounts that i was signatory on and also for any information that was in my name. Is there any other Act that could be used for limited company information as the SAR is for personal stuff. Also because they are addressing everything to me personally i assume the SAR should satisfy my request? Regards Seamstress
  5. Natwest guarantee Hi everybody, Now that i have read this website properly and acted on the sound advice given on it, i would like to open my story and problem up to the forum and seek some much needed advice. Basically my problem is that i was the director of a limited company that went into liquidation and was left with a personal guarantee to Natwest which they said was for £35000. Part of which { £15000 } was supposed to have been secured via the governments small business loan guarantee scheme. In the final days of the business the bank applied it's usual charges for returned cheques etc and ran the account further into the red, to the sum of approximately £20000 in overdraft. About 6 months after the company folded Natwest tried to call in the guarantee and asked for £35000 and started applying interest at over £10 per day. I couldn't afford to pay them all this money back but i did start to pay them £500 per month but this did'nt even clear the interest charges that were being applied. I have increased payments to them paying to date approximately £12000 and have never missed a monthly payment to them. The balance though according to Natwest is still at £34474 and i am struggling to make the payments. I have repeatedly requested how they make up the debt, if they can freeze the interest, why the small firms LGS amount is included and have continually come up against a brick wall. After finding this site and taking advice from Bankfodder i sent them a SAR letter in December 2006 to which they completely ignored. I then sent them a court notice letter for non compliance in February this month to which they have ignored. I also telephoned them this week to make them acknowledge that they have had the correspondance and they said that they have had all the letters but they must have got lost in the building.{ of course i sent them recorded}. I then recieved a letter this morning saying that because the account is in the name of a limited company it is not covered by the Data Protection Act and that if i require any statements of the company's liabilities i have to do it on company headed paper. This is not possible because the company no longer exists and also if that is the case how can they hold me personally liable. They hold information on me and i want to know what it is, shurely the SAR letter gives me that right. They now want me to increase payments to them and i am sereously thinking about stopping them. Any assistance in this matter would be very gladly appreciated.

  9. Hi all, As Patdavies rightly says, read the Euro car park thread, I have and i've done exactly what it says on the tin. I have written back to them telling them that I wasn't driving the vehicle at the time and I don't know who was. You are under no obligation even as the registered keeper to tell a private company who was the driver so they have no case.
  10. Hello there, I've recieved a " notice to owner of intent to issue court proceedings" letter this morning, unless i send them £100. I,ve had no ticket issued at the car park and this letter is the only thing I've had with a contravention apparantly happening on the 9th September ? I don't know what sort of a [problem] is operating at this car park but i for one will be fighting it.
  11. Hello Ataction, Yes it is, more specifically a Personal Guarantee they have on me for a now liquidated business. Regards Seamstress
  12. Thanks Rooster your a gem.
  13. Hello everyone, I am so glad I found this site with all your positive attitude towards fighting back against the banking cartels, and I hope it's the answer to my delemma. Could someone please offer some information about my problem with Natwest bank. I was an MD for a now liquidated company but I signed a personal guarantee for a company overdraft to which they have called in. After repeated requests in writing to clarify what i owe the bank and how the debt is made up and the basis of their interest charges, i am having no luck at all. When the business stopped trading the overdraft stood at approx. £20000.This was inflated with a large portion of bank charges. The company also had a £15000 loan on the small firms government guarantee scheme { that i was informed that the DTI covered 85% of the loan by guarantee}. The bank has a PG from myself to the tune of £30000 and has told my that it is all repayable and the SFLGS is irrelavant. Allthough i disagree with the figures i have paid the bank £630 a month for about 18 months but the interest is being added at approx. £10 per day. I have asked them to clarify the debt, interest etc. to no avail and i can't afford to keep paying them this amount. CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE ON THIS SITUATION. THANK YOU in advance.
