Hi bookworm. What I was trying to say is 1975 100 women in France, very powerful women who were able to make their government change their stance on abortion.

So why could not 100 women in Ireland do they same. it had to take thousdands and many died before the government would do anything about it.and it's still shunned today! It's about being powerful and using that power to influence others not about mass protests.

nine, no way wow I am getting sloppy Tez I get the point your making as to regards historical events and yes I agree, there has been very major events whereby by the accumulated actions of society have brought about change. who can argue with that. You only need to pick up a history book or look about your as to the roles women now play in society, Education etc you do not have to look far to evidence that fact.

what I don't agree with is your comments in post #61. I see no reason to assume it will not continue to happen, indeed, I see it increasingly exponentially as the population at large become increasingly (a) aware of their rights, and, (b) willing to fight.

It would have to be something so extreme for this to happen again and would not be one countries fight but all countries. The reason I say this is because if we take England for instance a vast majority of our countrymen are emigrating because of they way our country is being run. The rights we once enjoyed ie free speech, peaceful protesting etc are slowly being eroded. People are sick of fighting, yes major changers have occurred throughout history because of it but not now, we have a Big Brother system in place now which changers the whole ball game and puts the power firmly in the hands of the government.

There was a news article today about Britain being the major players in DNA collecting, we were told if we have broken no laws, committed no crimes then we have nothing to fear of our DNA being stored. Can you imagine what the future could be like for all of us if every persons DNA was stored on a data basis, what scientists could do with that information. In 50 years time we could all be programmed to except anything and everything. just imagine if through scientific experiments they could destroy our aggressive gene without us knowing, who would fight for us then.

Tez reason I have not elaborated on the posts as you have requested is for a few reasons. If the people of this country were worked up enough to undertake a major protest one that could possibly over throw the government I am sure a new law would quickly be put through to make some aspect of it illegal. As was the case with the petrol rises/shortages and the mass protest by the lorry drives blocking roads and motorway's hmm what did the government do, well what they didn't do was given in to presure and lower prices that's for sure. They did however make the blockade's illegal.

And as to being able to be judged by our peers in a court of law is this always he case Tez?? maybe for the common man but not for the corporate giants who have committed manslaughter by negligence??? many times over and never set foot near a court room never mind being judge for it.

The government push through laws/ legislation before the public can have a chance to protest, you only have to take a look at Gorden Brown and his recent exploits on the EU situation to realise that.

The current situation of the welfare state, it's not what the people voted for when it was introduced how many protest and marches have there been in relation to it, has it change yes for the worse.

Why will this or any other Government in this country not have a memorandum on the death penalty?? because they are worried that most people will be in favour of it that's why.

Finally found the copies of my complaint to the ombudsman and their response stating that they have written to the bank for a explantaion. The letter from the ombudsman was dated 25th July 07 hmm maybe a bit out dated know. Anyway they were meant to write to me 8 weeks later but I cannot remember getting a letter from them. In response to the Ombudsmans letter and your letter to LTSB (re PEP) I received a letter from Martin Orton dated 11 september 07 basically the letter said they will send me all my details which they never did also they have checked their records and are unable to find any trace of a such a account.

OK so basically I am back to square one. I filed a claim for SAR and lost due to forgetting to sign the N1, but I still need the info re loan and PEP account. sorry Els don't know if you remember were we were up to with all this . I am going to have to write to the Ombudsman again and inform him that the complaint was never resolved. Should I mention the court hearing and the fact that I lost.

tez, I totaly disgree. I don't feel politacaly dis-empowered at all, people are only dis empoyered if they want to be.

There is a awful lot of injustice in this world that most of socioty know nothing about. hence our own the offical secrets act to name but one. this Act was not created by the public to protect their interest, it was created by a minority to protect their own interest and to stop anicky that does not mean it's not happening you do not know what you do not know so how can you fight against that which you are not awere is happening in the first place.

oh don't go on about big belly's I hate them especially mine. I'm a size 10/12 but try telling my belly that it looks 9 months pregnant at times. I don't drink so can't blame the alcohol I have a humongous Thortons chocolate Easter egg winking at me on my dressing table each night before i go to sleep which has been there for at least a month so can't blame that either. Con, I think somehow your missing the point. I think it matters a lot. They have writtern to me stating they have obtain a warrent to change my meter. The court have confirmed that they would not issue them one because the account is in dispute so if they turn up at my door it is on the basis that they are claiming they have a warrent which is deception. If I invite the in and make them a cuppa i'm I taking part in that deception.

They have it on record that I am seriously ill, maybe, they are using that to their advantage believing I would not cause a fuss.

However I don't see that I have any choice other then letting them in. Then I will have a stronger case to fight.

I am in a fortunite posistion of being able to pay what they claim I owe them tomorrow if I wanted to but that's not the point. The point is they owe me not me owe them! and, I am no longer a customer of theirs so they have no right to enter my property even if they did have a warrent what would they do with it. they can't turn off my supply as they are not the ones supplying it BG are

I have wrriten to the court to get conformation in writing, I have also enclosed the letter from SP claiming they were issued with the warrant.

I have also writen to SP about their underhanded conduct. I have informed them that I will be taking legal action if their rep comes to call. And requested that they supply me with a un edited virsion of the CD along with a record of all my payments todate.

I have also photo copied everything and sent it with a complaint to energy watch.

All I can do now is wait and see what happens this week. unless anyone can think of anything else I should be doing.

TEZ, we like to think it's through protest!! but lets face it government does not listen to protests or pressure groups unless they have a ulterior motive to do so.

Ok we have the irritating one going strong but to balance it out there must be lots of things that make us happy.

Ha I watch Ross Kemp in Iran and like you I found it fascinating but I did have to laugh at one point. He was intervening 2 guys who were talking about one of there friends being hit by a blue on blue whilst he was in a bunker and they had to go back and dig him out. the story was so sad I was in tears listening to them then the camera shot an expreshion on Ross's face and he looked so much like Wallis from Wallis and gromit I ended up chocking with laughter. very disrespectful yes I know but I could not help it.

I do have to point out that the nothing to lose policy is really hard work. for instance if you choose to believe just because you can't prove otherwise you then have to follow a cause of action to make sure you hedge your bets so to speak and act like a good christian even if you wanted to strangle someone, no more telling porkies. if you have been given too much change in a shop you have to hand it back, give to charity etc etc etc its no enough saying you believe but doing nothing about it. I personally do all this things anyway ops where my halo but isn't that what we should all be doing any way being the best person we can be. and to bring up our kids to do the same. ever action has a reaction good or bad and what comes around goes around.

But on saying all that I have also found that the biggest hypocrites happen to those who believe in some form of god and the worse behaved children and from a religious background. On quite a few occasions when children from christian families have behaved really badly, instead of being punished for the actions the parents have asked every one to pray for them to behave better yer ok. However churches are not completly full of hypocrites, there's plenty of room for more ha and you don't have to be one to join however it does help
