  1. Quick update still not received any staements for my hubbys account and not yet had microfiche print out for my account. May just send them a gentle reminder as the time is up on 9th April.
  2. Received one lot of statements (for hubbys account) no charge. Will start workiing on this.
  3. Hi All, I sent my SAR to Bradfrod and Bingley 03/03/07, they received it on 06/03/07. I received the statements for two accounts well within the 40 days, 14/03/07.........amazing! Sent the prelim 15/03/07 requesting refund of charges. Received a letter back dates 20/03/07 basically saying they were looking into it and would aim to reply again within 20 days. I was still sticking to my time scale but then received 2 letters one for each account dated 29/03/07.........wonders will never cease! They are as follows:- Thank you for your letter of 14 March 2007, acknowledged by my colleague on 20 March 2007. Your long-standing relationship with us is valued very much and I'm sorry you've found the need to contact us. The patience you've shown while waiting for my reply is greatly appreciated. You're questioning the fee we charge when there is not enough money in your account to cover a Direct Debit or Standing Order payment. When you set up a Direct Debit or Standing Drder on your account, it is your responsibility to make sure there is enough money in the account each month. Unlike a high street bank our accounts are all savings based and we've no overdraft facility. You earn interest on all credit balances, so it is reasonable for us to charge a fee for any returned Direct Debit or Standing Order, as we have to carry out a certain amount of internal work for which this charge to offsets our costs. We believe our charges are reasonable and comply with the legislation in this area. We are however aware of the concerns expressed by the Office of Fair Trading within the industry generally. We're currently undertaking a review of our charges to ensure that they are still appropriate taking into account various cost reduction excercises we've completed over the past few years within the Group. In the interests of compromise I am prepared to reduce the fees to the amount which applied originally. (On this letter they missed out the bit that the originally amount was when fees were introduced in 1997 - I only found this out by reading my hubbys letter) The original fee was £10.00. Due to increased costs this has changed to the present charge of £25.00. Accordingly this will result in a reduction in the charges added to your account from a total of £175.00 since March 2001 - to the total of £100.00 being a reduction of £75.00. I hope you are happy with the reduction in the fees as detailed above and I trust my explanation helps you understand why these charges were made. I've taken the opportunity to enclose an Acceptance of Offer form to be signed and returned if you agree to accept the offer made. The address details we hold for you would appear to be out of date. Before we can change them on the systems we need to see varification. Please therefore call at your nearest branch with proof of your current address as soon as possible. If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know. Yours Sincerely Denise Frear Customer Relations Officer. How interesting. When I sent off the original SAR I enclosed a solictors letter addressed to ourselves with the heading sale of *old address* and purchase of *new address*. This was about completetion of the sale and purchase details. So, If B and B were unsure of who we were, why did they send the statements to the new address, and any other correspondence to this same address. The mind boggles. So from the letter I understand they are prepared to charge me £10.00 for each charge as opposed to the £15.00 and the £20.00 I was actually charged. So intead of claiming £175.00 they are offering me £75.00. any amount over £10.00 charge. My intention now is to reject this offer and at the same time include the LBA. Any comments from anyone please..................
  4. Hi, Recieved a letter on 21st March saying they are looking into it and hope to respond within the next 20 working days................I don't think so! I will be sending my letter before action on the 2nd April. My time sclaes not theirs! I believe they are one of the worst but I will keep you posted.
  5. Thanks a lot newbody, Yes this has helped. Will keep you posted.
  6. Hi Newbody, I'm quite a bit of a way behind you. I'm just waiting for the microfiched information. I have started my own thread, but still like having a nosey about. I did have some statements but when I got the copies, there was missing information on the copis there was no mention of my overdraft limit and the charges were not listed on the front of the statement like on the originals. I was just wondering what the microfiched informatiob provides you with? Thanks
  7. Hi Everyone, Got the promised statements today, although I think the Abbey are trying to mislead people. I have quite a few of the original statements and when I compared them to the duplicated statement the charges were not listed at the beginning of it as with the original. Also it does not state the overdraft limit or interest charged while overdrawn. It only actually any interest you may have earned while in credit, this is very confusing I thought a copy of something was exactly that! I am still waiting for the microfiched information. Has anyone else noticed differences in duplicate statements.
  8. 24 days and still counting.............................
  9. pretty in pink, What has happened to you, have you posted your letter to B & B? I sent my SAR (for 2 accounts) on 03/03/07 they received it on the 6/03/07. Statements arrived today. Prelim letters already in the envelope with the recorded sticker filled out. We haven't used these accounts for a number of years so not much to claim over 6 years roughly between the 2 accounts about £280.00 but every little helps!
  10. 31 days and still counting................................

  12. Good Luck Redrob, I'm doing Abbey and should have my statements soon. I have decided just to go for just for charges with 8% if it gets that far. I don't know about you but I read so much about contractual interest it caused my brain to melt. Abbey statements are a bit confusing because of the charge abd then taking it the month after. It all seemed a heck of a lot of work to me. So I'm happy tp go for the lesser amount. Keep us updated:)
  13. Hi, After causing my brain to go into total meltdown I have decided just to go for the 8%. I have spent most of the day reading and reading and more reading to a point when everything is now a blurr. Abbey statements are not the easiest to understand i.e. is the interest stated for the previous month or the current month, i can't work any of these figures back, so I think the best thing for me to do is keep it simple (a bit like me) I hear you say! Will keep you posted:confused:
  14. Thank Mariejader, Not on you life, I'm not going to let them get away with anything. I don't think I will recieve the statements as quick as they say I will. I'm just going to carry on as if I hadn't had a letter and stick with the 40 days, that is until I received a complete set of the information I require. I will keep everyone posted.
  15. Hi, Just to give you an update, received a standard letter yesterday: "Thankyou for your recent enquiry, requesting information on you bank account. I also acknowledge receipt of your £10.00 fee. I confirm arrangements have been made for the information you have requested to be sent to you. The transactional information remaining on our systems, normally covering the last fourteen months, will be sent out in the form of individual duplicate statements. You should receive these within five to seven working days of the date of the letter. Any previous transactions have been archived onto microfiche and it is not possible to provide you with a computer print out of this information. However, we have made arrangements to send you a list of archived transactions between 2001 and 2005 under separate cover. With regards to 'any manual interventions' that may have been made on the account. We consider 'manual intrervention' to mean an action that is not automatic or computer-driven. Not all manual interventions are recorded, for example if a member of staff looks at a paper document relating to an account, a record is not always required. Similarly some interventions may relate to work carried out by a department rather than individuals where no central record of activity is kept because this is not the kind of information we need, or more importantly, that a customer would usually request. If you have any questions please call us on the above number." The letter was dated th 8th March so I should receive the statements by 19th March at the latest only counting Monday-Friday as working days. Orginal SAR 28 days and still counting.....................................
  16. Hi Everyone, Yes another one to be going on with. SAR sent 02/03/07, Natwest received it today 05/03/07. Today 40 days and counting................................................................ Will keep you all posted. I have quite a few SARs out at the moment, just hope all the staements don't come through at once!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Hi All, SAR sent 2/03/07 to GE Money regarding a B & Q Card. They received it 5/03/07. Today 40 days and counting......................................................... Will keep you all posted.
  18. Thanks Armsoft, I have only just plucked up the courage to start claiming and the Abbey is just one of many. I joined in October and have been reading as much as I can, although it still scares me! Can I just ask you, on my Abbey statements (the ones I have got) they list the interest charges whilst over drawn, do I add these to the spread sheet? Thanks
  19. Hi Everyone, Started 2 claims with Abbey. Two joint accounts (with my hubby). On just one account with the hand full of statements I have, charges (without interest) come to over £1200. Sent SAR recorded delivery and they received it on the 28th February. Today 35 days and counting......................... Will keep you posted. What a great site!
  20. Hi firemagi, I have a B & Q store card (GE Money) I sent my SAR to GE Money.
  21. Thanks rippedoffagain for the links, they will come in very handy I have the following to deal with:- Me Hubby Abbey Abbey Capital One (closed acc) Capital One (closed acc) Bradford & Bingley (closed acc) Bradford & Bingley (closed acc) G E Money (B & Q card) Morgan Stanley (closed acc) Barclay Card (nrly paid up) Natwest C C (closed acc) Halifax C C (closed acc) Halifax (closed acc) MBNA (closed acc) I will be starting new threads as I deal with these but at the moment don't want to bite off more than I can chew! As you can see a lot of the accounts are closed, and we don't want any more credit cards, once you have one other companies can't wait to throw another one at you. I'm still going to try and get some money back though. Funny thing is my hubby always complains about the amount of c__p I save. He was however amased when I found the odd statement from 2001. So far there is only onne account I can't find the number for but I only have to go to work because it;s the bank where my wages used to be paid into.. See you around the site
  22. Hi, Just phoned for statements today for an account that has been closed for over 2 years, no charge for statements. I was told they would be with me within 21 days. Did the same with my hubbys account which is also closed,-. Will keep you posted.
  23. HI, I have just phoned Capital One and requested statements from March 2001 through to when I closed the account, some three years later. The nice man said they should be with me within 21 days and there was no charge I thought while I was in the phone I might as well get my hubby to request the same, same reply 21 days and both accounts have already been closed. I will let you know when I receive them.
  24. Thanks, Yes I have been a bystander since October, a bit scared I think. It's only because I keeping reading how other people have claimed money back, I thought I'd give it a go. The members just seem to be ordinary people like me. I'm sure if I got stuck there would be someone there to give me a hand.
  25. Hi Everyone, After ages reading and re-reading posts on this site I thought it was time I did something about our bank charges. My other half wanted me to get someone to do it for us, but we've already been robbed and I wasn't going to give my money away again! I have just sent off SAR to Shabbey, I only have a handful of statements and the charges so far are over £1200 just on one account. I have also done the same for a Natwest Credit Card and GE Money for a B & Q Store Card. This is just for starters. I want do deal with Shabbey first but I thought I'd ask for statements from a couple of the others to get the ball rolling. I can't believe how supportive all the members are, I am looking forward to becoming a fully fledged member
