  1. Hi,

I had a joint account with the wife back in 1999 with Abbey and moved house in 2003 and since closed the account. I called Abbey the other day and asked if I could get details of our old account and the lady said they dont hold account details after 7 years.

    Is this correct?

Also, how do I go about claiming from this account concidering I've moved 3 times since but I do have a few old statements available but not all.

I estimated that they owe us ££££ figures.

    Regards,

    Brian

  2. Hi,

4 years ago I took out a 25 year mortgage under the assumption that I had a early repayment charge of £5,000 stuck to it for the first 3 years of the mortgage.

Well after 3 years was up I sold and cleared the mortgage and had a shock to be told the redemption charge was not for 3 years but 5 years.

Now, I paid that under duress but I have now found the mortgage application form copy and it was indeed 5 years but my question is this......

Concidering I cleared my mortgage 3 years into this 5 year penalty can I not claim back the differance from year 3 to year 5?

    Regards.

  3. Hi,

Found the templates after and a letter is ready for posting. I do indeed need the statements because its a no longer used account and its closed, been closed for a few years now so I need statements.

The other problem I have is that I have moved address since so I have had to include a copy of an old statement I found but I presume they will ask for further proof who Iam.

    Regards.

    Do you need you statements?

All the templates are located on this link:

  4. Hi All,

I claimed against Halifax a few months ago and won that, but only now I have found my old Abbey bank statements (2 or 3) and amazed at the charges they placed on me then, this was back in 2002.

With all the courts throwing out claims, is it worth me going ahead and having a go at Abbey?

    Regards,

    Brian.

  5. I would open your own thread on this.

hello, would anybody be able to offer some advice re an alleged debt from howdens joinery. i will keep it as short as poss but they alleged my husband had a kitchen from them for aprox £3500 and put a ccj against him. the first we knew of this ccj was when we applied for a loan and were refused. we asked for evidence from howdens to confirm the debt was his as he denies it. they sent copies of his signature which were obvious were not his and sometimes no signature was used but collected was just written on the invoices. my husband supplied evidence to them to show the signature was not his.it taken a while to collect the information but at howdens solicitors advice we applied to the court to have the ccj removed as they agreed that it looked like it was a mistake and not our debt. we went to court paid £70, and the judge said it did look that it was not our debt and unfair but we were out of time and couldnot set aside the ccj, why they didnt say that when they cashed our cheque i dont know. so now we have to go back to howdens and ask them to remove it, can any advise how best to go about it.many thanks, a very hacked off busymum.
  6. Hi,

Around 2003 I sold my old house which the mortgage was with Abbey, the account was settled in full, can I claim back charges on this?

    Also...........

I had a bank account with them which I defaulted on a overdraft of 2,000 pounds and not cleared this as yet but can I claim back charges against this old bank account and any charges made due to the default etc.

    Regards.

  7. Well,

Just received my first bank change in months and months after me recovering my bank charges a few weeks ago.

I called Halifax and said I was not happy being charged £39 but was told that if they refunded the £39 pounds they would closes my account because they said they told me this when they refunded the last lot of fee's.

Well, be carefull and make sure you dont get charged or they will close accounts.

Well here comes a new account me thinks :)

    Laters

  8. Well I won my claim from the Halifax and now its Capital Ones turn. Just checked my online account and I went £4.28 over my limit but the robbing gets charged me £20.00, so Im now £24.28 over.

So, here comes a letter regardless of the amount.
