  1. Hi Northernguy. I presume you're paying Mackenzie Hall? Who ever you're paying I'd stop right now and ask for a statement of account. I'd also ask for full details of the account. Don't pay any more. I would also be inclined to ask for a settlement figure on the account. We paid Mackenzie Hall cash into their bank account and they showed us as defaulted and have never acknowledged payments. You obviously want to settle your debt but beware - you'll get ripped off by these guys.
  2. Don't phone Mackenzie Hall. Don't contact them. Oh and whatever you do don't phone them. Mack Hall excels in bully boy (and girl) tactics and their story is well documented in this forum. Leave well alone. This forum should give you all the help you need - it certainly helped us. Be empowered by other people's experiences and have faith.
  3. Just to let other Budget sufferers out there know - there is light at the end of the tunnel if you just keep at it : After seven months of hassle I have finally got the answer I wanted. Budget really cocked up my insurance - they accepted my no claims then they didn't, then they did, then they changed their minds and so on. I ended up with no less than eight policy documents all different with all different amounts. Call centre staff said one thing then in the post arrived something totally different. In desperation in one telephone call with Budget I said I had a good mind to cancel my policy. The response? Go ahead and see if we care. As it happened my car 'died' and I was forced to cancel my policy - Budget being unable to place a hold on my insurance until I found a replacement vehicle. Call centre staff accepted my cancellation over the 'phone and said I owed nothing. Then I got a bill for cancellation fees and recently threats of court action. I wrote to Budget saying I would only deal in writing and explaining my case and what did they do? Telephone me and then write asking me to telephone them. In desperation I wrote back at the beginning of January with my invoice for charges relating to my costs in dealing with their inefficiency. The result? An apologetic letter today saying that they can't consider my invoice but they have deleted all monies they have showing on the account. I haven't made any money but it's one less to worry about.
  4. Dobbers - Why on earth are you part of this thread/forum? You are displaying the characteristics of Mackenzie Hall. You are helping no-one. Mackenzie Hall is a money grabbing festering boil on the face of humanity and the sooner it is squeezed the better.
  5. Please, please help. We have a loan with London Personal Loans. PPI was added even though we said we didn't want it. We have major problems with London Personal but am trying to get my head round clawing back ppi. Insurance premium paid and added to the loan was £1200.00. The interest rate was 12% variable. The date of the start of the loan was 3 June 2005. The loan was for 25 years. So there's approx 24 years left. Deep joy. What sort of claim ££wise am I going to put to the seller (as I understand it and not the provider)?
  6. Well after that guess what I got in the mail this morning? A letter from Budget. Having cancelled my insurance with them verbally and in writing when my car 'died' two months ago and having cancelled the direct debit with the bank advising Budget of what I'd done and getting confirmation from the bank that this (cancellation) had been done, they're still chasing direct debits and me. I'm going to write to them and send an invoice for my costs to date in dealing with them. Is there a thread on this forum that deals with dodgy insurance companies ? Apart from Budget....
  7. I have only just come across the insurance side of this forum. I've been looking elsewhere. I have had real problems with Budget. Found them on an internet trawl for cheap insurance. Never again. Wish I'd found this site sooner.
  8. Hi Nick, don't phone Mackenzie Hall. Deal only with them in writing. Don't admit to anything. Don't offer anything. Ask for statements and proof of debt. And no Barclays won't give a toss what actions Mackenzie Hall takes - I wrote to Lloyds and a firm of solicitors acting for Lloyds, Sechiairi Clark & Mitchell as Mack Hall were acting on their behalf and had no response. Once the debt is sold on the assignee (?) couldn't care less if concrete shoes and kneecaps were involved.
  9. Hi Shaz, with experience of Mackenzie Hall I'd cancel the standing order. Ask Mack Hall for a deed of assignment (ie proof of their right to collect). Ask for a statement showing monies paid. Write - don't phone. When writing say that you will only deal with them in writing. Mack Hall staff are very good at verbal abuse but they're not so hot on putting things in writing.
  10. Don't get involved in conversations with Mackenzie Hall. Write to them and say you will only deal with them in writing. Ask them to remove your telephone number from their database, which they are obliged to do under Data protection regulations. Ask them for a copy of deed of assignment (ie proof of their right to collect). We did this just over a month ago (thanks to advice from this forum) having suffered verbal abuse, Mr Kennedy demanding money with menaces, constant telephone calls and official looking letters. So far all has gone quiet. Have we won or is this the lull before the storm? Don't really think the latter. Mack Hall tried to get a warrant based on an old court judgement and whilst they charged us for the priviledge, the application was rejected by the local court (it pays to check). We have done the 'I am familiar with the terms of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act etc' and in response in one call from Mr Kennedy he assured me that Mack Hall did everything they could to conform to the letters of the law. Yet only the week before in a telephone conversation (before I joined the forum and got wise) he had foul mouthed me and my husband saying that people like us were 'the **** of the earth'; that if we involved third parties in our dispute we would end up with egg on our faces, that he would personally add extra charges and interest to the account and make it impossible for us to ever repay the debt unless we paid £XXX. We did make one payment and then Mack Hall are saying they never received it (cash payment to Royal Bank of Scotland to their account, paying in slip retained). Don't be intimidated by this company. They are bully boys (and girls).
  11. Be very wary of Mackenzie Hall. This is not a nice company. If Lloyds haven't chased you for payment then 10 2 1 this debt has been 'bought' by MackHall and they will use all the bully boy tricks in the book in order to get you to pay. We've been pursued by MackHall for an old United Dominions Trust debt (part of Lloyds) and after verbal abuse and threats as to what would happen to us if we didn't pay up, made cash payments into their bank account which we couldn't afford and which meant other bills went unpaid. MackHall are still pursuing us for the original amount and have refused to acknowledge payments or to allocate them to the account. We've now written back quoting various acts/guides and will write to Trading Standards in Kilmarnock. Don't give in. Don't phone them. As to court action, they can try to take action under any judgement if a judgement order was made or to enforce an order. Most likely they will send letters which look like court letters warning of bankruptcy, attachment of earnings, etc. If you were going to be taken to court Lloyds would have done it in 2002.
