  1. Hi there I wrote to Lloyds Bank Nominees, 48 Chiswell Street on 30/08/2006, as advised by the "esd" data protection website. Ironically Penny A Berryman replied to me to say that I should have written to Swallow House, B1 2AL. Ironic because on the FAQs, it says we should write to HER. Anyway, I checked on the data protection website and the Birmingham address did not exist on there so I put my complaint in writing to the Information Commissioners Office, AND wrote to Lloyds again at the address I had now been given. This involoved a further 99p for another letter (another piece of paper and another envelope!) to be sent recorded, and of course the enclosure of another cheque for the required £10, as she was also quick to point out that the payee was wrong. All done and dusted I was happy................ until today. I have received my letter back and it has not even been opened. It still has my recorded delivery sticker on it, but also has a red sticker, where the option that has been ticked is "address has gone away". I read it as addressee has run away. Anyway, I will write to the Information Commissioner's Office again, and will ring Lloyds to ask "who exactly is dealing with your data protection requests?" Alot of people on these blogs just wrote to their local branch but I did what I thought was the correct thing, as advised on here and it so hasn't worked out. Didn't think I should trouble my local branch with it, but obviously should. Just thought I would let you all know that the official route is not always the correct one!!! I will keep you posted, but my 40 days IS TICKING, and my cheque book is getting emptier, as I now move onto cheque number three!!!
  2. WOW powerful stuff. I very much hope it has the desired effect. I do think they really rely on us getting busy with other things, and thus dropping the whole thing. They are sorely mistaken in your case ;-). This whole MoneySaving thing is quite exciting though. I have just renegotiated a great package on my mobile, and for the first time ever have organised a credit card bank transfer BEFORE my current 0% expires. Thanks to Martin Lewis's website. Good luck Mindzai and Lucid.
  3. Hi there, I have just put the info on a different thread but as it relates directly to yours I will say it again here. I went onto the proper .gov.uk data protection website and got the 48 Chiswell Street address. At that point I hadn't heard of Penny Berryman, but SHE replied to me the same day she received it ( sent 29/08/06, received by them 30/08/2006, and reply received by me 31/08/2006). She sarcastically called my letter undated, despite me sending it recorded delivery, and her dept stamping it received "30 Aug 2006" and my £10 cheque having been completed on 29th August. She tells me to make my cheque out to Lloyds TSB Bank plc as I had made it to Lloyds Bank Branches Nominees Ltd, and also said I should send it to Swallow House, PO Box 139, 10 Swallow Street, Birmingham, B1 2AL as they deal with requests for "personal banking data". I went back on the data protection website and even did a postcode search. B1 2AL is NOT listed there. She should get her facts straight. before I write in again I will be calling data protection on 01625 545 740 to notify them of this. in summary, Penny is not your girl, despite her efficiency in replying same day.
  4. Hi there, in reply to the above, I got the address from the data protection link, and it was 48 Chiswell Street. I made it for the attention of the Data Controller, Nominees Ltd. What is hilarious is I got a reply from Penny A. Berryman who is named on your link above. She has sent my £10 cheque back to me, sarcastically calling my letter undated (despite me sending it recorded, dating my cheque 29/08/06 and a member of her team stamping it received on 30/08/2006), and suggesting that I write a new cheque to Lloyds TSB Bank Plc and send it to Swallow House PO Box 139, Birmingham, B1 3AL. THIS ADDRESS IS NOT listed on the Data Protection website and should be if that is where they want people to write to. Had she got her facts straight, and known that the address is not registered maybe she would have been kind enough to redirect my letter in the internal mail. Now I have to waste another 99 pence on writing again to the address she suggests. I am going to ring Data Protection on 01625 545 740 to let them know of this bizarre situation. Just didn't have chance on Friday. Wish me luck.
  5. I know I am very new, and at the early stages but someone please reply to me. The other day I said: "What is AQ? I am totally new to this. I got my reply to my Data Protection letter today, saying that Lloyds are registered at Swallow House PO Box 139, B1 2AL (and not where I sent it to) when that is not even registered at www.esd.informationcommissioner.gov.uk but I guess that is there way of putting me off at the first hurdle". Didn't get chance to ring the DP number on Friday but really want to know why I got a sarcastic letter saying I should write somewhere else where they deal with personal banking queries of this nature, when the address they have now given is not even listed with DP. I will not be writing to it, no matter what Lloyds says until DP have been notified by me that Lloyds are giving out an address not even registered with DP. He even had the nerve to call my letter UNDATED. Yes it WAS, but a member of his team had stamped it received on 30/08/06, it was sent recorded delivery, AND my cheque for the £10 DP fee was dated 29/08/06, so it does not take Einstein to work out when I sent it. Cheeky bugger. Can't wait to reply to him, to say what part of the air did he pick that address from?!?!?!?!? /
  6. Gosh, I am frightened already after reading all that. Mindzai, who did you write to at the Subject Access Request stage? I wrote to the address that Lloyds are registered with for Data Protection. I wrote 29/08. They received AND wrote on 30/08 for me to receive on 31/08 giving me an entirely different address, and a different payee for the £10. I looked up this address they have given and it is not even listed on the DP site. The plot thickens, but I will not be put off.
