  1. Hi all I've just sent off a claim on behalf of my OH for £334.50 of unfair charges taken from his closed Business Current Account by Barclays. I'll let you know how I get on. I'm doing 4 claims for him, Barclays, Barclaycard (£228, NatWest (£161) and Mint (£231, paid in full last week).
  2. Hi all I claimed £231 on behalf of OH from Mint. It was relatively quick and painless and didn't even have to use MCOL:) . Can't remember the exact sequence of events but its something like: 10 August - sent SAR Sometime before 16 September - received statements and sent request for repayment. Within a week or two, received letter 'sorry you are not happy but we believe charges fair/reasonable/in line with terms of account etc' Sent LBA on 21 October (was on holiday first two weeks of October) Received 2 x letters - we are thinking about this, please give us more time. 14 November - Just as I was starting to think about doing MCOL, they sent a cheque for full amount! I have filled in the survey and will send a little something to the fund, when the cheque clears. I also have a claim in progress for £161 from Natwest and have just sent off the first request for repayments from Barclays (£334.50) and Barclaycard (£228). If it all comes back that'll be a total of just under £1000 Thanks for a great site!
  3. Hi all I'm claiming £228 on behalf of my OHs closed business Barclaycard. Luckily we still had all the statements in the loft, so didn't have to do the SAR:) . Have just sent off the letter asking for the money back, so too early for a reply. However, I am slightly concerned that all the charges were £12 each, for either exceeding credit limit or not paying on time. As this is exactly the amount that the OFT has said is 'fair', will Barclaycard try and use this as a defence.
  4. They sent the first letter very quickly, so I let them have the time, and was busy with other things anyway. I was a little annoyed when I received the second letter, realising they could possibly try and stall 'forever' by sending these letters. I was going to do MCOL 14 days after the second letter, but they sent the cheque about a week after we got that. Word on the forums appears to be that RBS/Mint/Natwest are settling full amounts without too much hassle, when the amount claimed is £350 or less.
  5. Hi all Just to add to the forum: I am claiming £228 from Natwest on behalf of my OH. Sent off SAR a few weeks ago and despite (genuinely) forgetting to send a cheque for £10, they sent the statements within a couple of weeks. Sent off the next letter to claim the money back and received a fairly quick reply from 'Stuart Higley' with 'sorry you are not happy, charges made in compliance with terms of account, how about £75 as a full and final settlement' Then I sent the LBA, rejecting the £75, and they have until next Tuesday to reply before I do the MCOL. We have now closed the Natwest account for a number of reasons, including them converting it to an Advantage gold account without permission THREE TIMES and constantly racking up the authorised OD to £1000, which then gets used and costs loads in interest each month as OH gets paid weekly and it was never in credit.
  6. I've just sent a claim to Barclays for my OHs closed business account. His statements (we already had them in the loft so didn't even have to do the SAR!) had the 'Commission for period' on the top of each page, but within the list of transactions each month there was an itemised breakdown, with lots of 'Account control fees' at £12 a time. This is what you want to claim bank. They also charge £27.50 for a bounced cheque (but not for returned DD (or might be otherway round)) but apply these at the time of the 'offence', so you have to look a little more carefully for these. HTH
  7. I claimed £231 on behalf of OH from Mint and received 2 of these in response to LBA. Wondered if it was a stalling tactict and was about to do MCOL when they sent a cheque for the full amount!
