  1. I was affected by this too! Really not sure whats going on, how could this have possibly happened? Was it someone behind the scenes at Asda messing around with the system? or a [problem] by Asda I don't know! All I know is I was very disapointed when I realised I wouldn't actually have a spare £75 in my bank! Ok so I would have had to buy shopping anyway so it hasn't made me out of pocket but its just so disapointing to be told you've won something and have it 'taken away' just as fast!!
  2. Hello, I hope someone can assist me with this. We have a baby on the way due in May, and the car we currently have is simply too small for our needs now, we did buy this car on finance, and still owe some money on it. We went to the car shop last Friday to have a look around, just literally to look! Got talking to a salesman, he advised us that the cost they would offer to part x our car would not clear the finance on it. So we would have to sell our car privately. It was getting late in the evening and they were pushing for a sale on a particular car, we didn’t want to purchase a car yet, as we were just looking, it was an Audi A3 at £9,600. For starters that’s way over what we wanted to pay on a car, ok it looks nice, drives well, nice size, newer than the one we have, low mileage etc. But with the monthly payments we would have to pay more than we are paying at the moment on finance which we really didn’t want to do with us dropping a wage, because of me finishing work soon. They kept pushing and pushing and we just kept telling them we didn’t want to spend that much each month on finance on the car, and its much more than we anticipated spending, we don't want to owe 10 grand over 5 years!!. So to get them off our back we gave them a £450 deposit and they said they would get back to us if they could strike a deal with the finance companies to get us the finance for £200 a month (which I still didn’t really want to pay). They told us the deposit is refundable if they can't get us finance (our credit rating isn’t that great, so just to get them off our back we gave them the deposit hoping they would get back to us to tell us we had been refused as it always happens when we apply for credit anyway, esp for such an amount!). Well we hadn’t heard anything all sat and starting to get worried as this £450 is OUR money and stupidly let them take it out of our bank account!! Anyway we rang up later on Saturday to be told they had applied for credit at one Company, which had refused us, and were just waiting on another Company, so they would get back to us Monday. After much deliberation Sunday about the car we decided that its too much, its out of our price range and with a baby on the way we need to be practical with our finances. Noone got back to us Monday so again we rang them and we were told that the person we needed to speak to would ring us back, NO PHONE CALL!! Ok so Tues - STILL NO NEWS!! We rang them they said that the finance guy who is dealing with the sale was on the 'early' shift and had gone home. But that he would be in tomorrow, and they are still waiting for finance to come back. My husband demanded they just refund the deposit and forget it were not waiting all this time for them to contact us!!! They said they couldn’t refund as yet, because they are still waiting for finance companies to come back to them with a deal!! How long does it take to find out whether we can get finance or not???? surely not this long!!! I feel like there stalling on purpose and have our money!!! Also the car they are trying to get us to buy has suddenly disappeared off their website, so does this mean they are putting it on hold for us or someone else has actually bought it??? Its so frustrating waiting around for an answer!!! I just want this to be over now, how long will they keep this going giving us excuses??? I don't really know what else I can do We spoke to them again on the phone last night, we were told someone would ring us back, we waited ages, NO CALL, so we rang them again!!!! Only to be told all the finance directors had gone home and no-one could help us. WE DONT WANT TO SPEAK TO FINANCE DIRECTORS WE JUST WANT OUR MONEY BACK!!!! Argh! I'm not sure what to do everytime we ring they say they are waiting to hear back from another brokers, and they have no news, plus they wont give us a refund until all brokers have got back to them. How much longer are they going to keep us waiting? Are they hoping that we will just forget about our money and stop ringing??? erm no! ARGH!
  3. Thanks for you reply, hmm I see. I'm a little confused then the letter from the court says 'An cknowledgment of service of your claim has been filed today, a copy of which is attached. The defendant now has 28 days from the date of service of the claim form to file a defence' Is there anything I need to do now? Or do I wait?
  4. Hello there! Hope someone can offer advice/reasurrance!! I have sent all the letters to Halifax claiming £1500 back, they sent an offer back offering £1000, I agreed to accept this as part payment but was claming the full amount back! So filed a claim at small claims court online, they sent their letter to the bank, didn't hear back for a while....so was starting to get worried, until this morning! The court has sent me a letter saying the bank is defending all of the claim! Now im very worried, it says the bank now has a further 28 days to file a defence! What if I am going to be one of the unlucky ones that doesn't get the money back and ends up in more debt than I already am! What usually happens at this stage? Am I right to be worried? or has anyone else been through this stage? it's not like I am claming for millions!! Why can't they just give me my money back!
  5. Hello there I have gone through all the first steps, the sending out the first few letters, got reply from Halifax stating they would only give me half of what I claimed back, so I sent the next letter out saying I would take this as part payment but I will still be claiming for the rest and gave them a time limit on when to reply. They still haven't replied and the date when I send my court claim out has now come! Well...I really don't know what to do here, I mean I know you can do it online and I have registered but I'm a bit concerned about the charges for taking them to court - does anybody know what they are? and can we get these charges refund afterwards? At the moment me and partner in bad with with cash at the mo, and trying to save up for a wedding etc in july and really cannot afford to pay this, whatever it is! But on the site it is informing me that I need my debit card ready to make payment....and not sure whether to go any further with the form now! Please help all advice needed!
  6. Hello! Sent my letter out to halifax, requesting back £1,500 in charges. I have received a letter back from them but they haven't offered me the full amount. They have offered £1,000 instead of £1,500!! Do I refuse the offer and risk not getting any money at all, or do I just accept the offer and settle with the £1000! Even though I do really want the £500 aswell as its my money I should have it back! What is the next step if the bank hasn't offered you the full amount? Please help! Thank you!!
  7. So it should make no difference whether it has closed down or not they will still send me my statements if I send them £10?
  8. Hello - can anyone advise please? I have two accounts with halifax I would like to claim for - one of the accounts has now closed down - I read in the FAQ's that you can still claim for this but - can you still request your statements from the past 6 years from an account that has closed down? Thank you!
  9. Thanks for that, the only problem is other half only gets 20 mins of phone time a week and has already used this weeks 'allowance' speaking to me and family! So will have to wait untill next week untill he can ring them and if I am able to speak to the bank how can I just ask them for the charges refunded? They are just going to say no over the phone aren't they?
  10. Hello there everyone...here goes....!! My partner is in a difficult situation with Halifax at the moment. He has a Halifax bank account, but we decided to get a joint account with them also, and after changing over his direct debits we were then going to close his old account. So we changed the direct debits over, but there was a slight delay in some of them and some ended up taking the money out of the old account when there was no money in. So obviously ended up getting charged by the bank for this. This happened for a couple of debits and we now owe the bank £78, which I know is not a great deal of money, the only thing is there is nothing he can do about it as he is in Iraq at the moment in the forces and I just keep receving threatening letters about the money he owes and that they are either going to pass him onto a credit reference agency or take us to court?! They also are charging us £28 a month untill he pays the amount he owes off! The only problem is I cannot afford to pay the charges back from out of our joint account as I have just lost my job and we only have one income coming in, as we have rent to pay, other bills and debts I simply can not afford to pay the £78 and the extra £28 a month. The bank will not speak to me about it as I am not the account holder which is fair enough! I have also read you can claim your money back from the bank, but I can not ask for the money back when I havent actually paid the money he owes them in the first place! Im really stuck as to what to do over here from my end? Do I pay the money anyway to the bank and end up with not enough money to pay other bills then send them a letter asking for the money back? Or do I jus sit back and let them take this even further damaging his credit history? I'm really worrying here...! Someone please help me! Thank you! Ruth:|
