  2. As far as I am concerned, the whole point with the banks is that they do not HAVE to pay cheques/direct debits etc when there are insufficient funds available. If they had refused to pay any of my bills or cheques I wouldn't have had any argument with them. It is the fact that they then charge a small fortune for doing so, thereby causing me to have more problems at a later stage. If it is so important for people to live within their means, the banks can easily achieve this without charging them horrendous amounts for doing so. The fact is that they are far more concerned with making an extra buck.
  3. I've noticed from a few of the posts in this group that NatWest require that court papers should be served on their Registered Office in London. Would that not mean that any court hearing would be in London also? Have those of you who have got that far served them to their local branch or Registered Office? What is the advice of the moderators?
  4. I don't know if they are allowed to do it - but they do it with great regularity. They cancelled my DD for my life cover linked to my mortgage and, yet again, didn't inform me. One thing with NatWest is they can't even claim to incur costs in sending a letter - I haven't recieved one for years!
  5. Default notices stay on you credit file for six years - it may be an idea to get a copy of your files from Experian and Equifax.
