  1. Just an update....Put in my letter asking for £113 (have not gone into attack for the microfiche element yet). They initially credited my account with £65 as a good will gester, but I said that this was not good enough. On 16 Nov, after issuing MCOL action, they offered me £113.09 again as a good will gester. I have said thankyou and will be taking it. Interestingly they then wrote (different bloke) on 17 Nov saying that they were not paying me anything above the £65...! We'll see what happens next!
  2. All who think it is not worth it... I started the process in Aug 06 and eventually workied out that the NW owed me about £280 in charges/interest etc. I did all things this excellent web site says and went right down to the road to a MCOL after the normal delaying tactics of the Bank. Got a letter today from them saying that they had reworked out the charges they had imposed on me and were refunding me £136.17 + £120(costs) which is about £30 short of the starting figure. Irronically I also got their reply to mt MCOL saying they were going to contest in court. I am pretty pleased with my admittedly near-result, but will probably accept the £250 as an end to it. However this was my first go and so I chose one of my less-used accounts merely as a confidence builder for future actions. Being a bit of a cynic, although I have a freind who has won a number of times, sometimes it is only through your own actions that you realise actually how easy it is to get the money you are owed back. So roll on HFC and Lloyds - I feel a bit more energised for the process!!
  3. I too have had the 'microfiche? All too difficult letter' suggesting a £3 fee per sheet. I am going to use the hard copies of charge provided from May 04 to present day (about£100 worth) and go for that. Interestingly I had a 'goodwill gester' of £65 credited to my account, which I obviously moved out straightaway. I'll let you know how I progress.
  4. Making slow progress with recovery of 'admin fees' from an HFC loan. Letter sent out for the statements, which they are generally really good at sending. Worked out the total of the fees paid over the last 4 years or so on the 13 Sep, so waiting for the 40 days reply similar to other HFC customers. I'll await with interest even though it is, compared with other threads only about £438 to get. As an aside, having worked out the total cost of the fees (£315) what interest rate should I go for - I have used the standard 8% and does it continue to tot up until they pay?
  5. have proof they got it, so now writing the DPA non-compliance ready for the first post tomorrow. Thanks for your guidance, it does help. Hopefully in 7 days I'll have a wad of statements to go through! I'll update this thread once I have a responce from Lloyds.
  6. They had had it.....letters to all my banks sent on the same day so they definately got it. Any advice on what to do if I dont hear from them? Should I ring my manager tomorrow?
  7. I asked for a copy of the statements on 17 Aug with my £10. I have not had a reply and the 40 days are up tomorrow. What do I do next and is this normal?
  8. Sent off my DPA on 17 Aug and received a holding 'we are thinking about it' letter on the 25 Aug. I received on 23 Sep a letter saying that their charges are transparant and fair etc but offering £65 as a no-blame payment. I did not get the statements I asked (and paid) for, so have written and phoned asking for the statements, highlighting the 40 days were getting pretty adjacent and how I could not see how the £65 was a 'fair offer' if I did not have sight of the statements witht he charges etc. Was this the right thing to do and if so/not, what is the next step?
  9. Set off my request for refund of charges (not much only about £300). After an initial holding letter staing that they are doing some thinking, I have received my 'sod-off' letter highlighting the account charge's transparancy and in accordance to the terms and agreements etc and that I was not going to get a penny, although I did get a nice glossy about what to do if I'm still unhappy. Following the other threads, I have issued my LBA for my £300ish so fingers crossed for 14 days time. I'd appreciate some feedback if I am going off half-cocked as I am a touch new to this.
  10. Just started the ball rolling with Lloyds, HFC and Nationwide, as well as Barclaycard. I live in Scotland (at the moment) but all my accounts are in England and I have generally lived in England all the time the accounts have been open. Do I use the Scottish threads or English threads for the next steps?:?
  11. I have always had no snags getting the past statements. I sent off my first letter today, merely asking for it and without a cheque. Hope it works but I am new to all this!
  12. Well, first letter gone off to Lloyds after almost 20 years business from me, including a period as a poor student and an expensive divorse! So fingers crossed!
