Tax credit compliance interview
Tax credits compliance callAnxietyridden replied to Anxietyridden's topic in HMRC
Not good But trying to stay positive - suppose that’s all there is for it at this time but feel I will get the jail. Always running through my head despite lots of other people having different outcomes. Thinking about handing my notice into work as the shame is just so much to handle you know. thanks for checking in , really appreciate it. -

Sorry on letter it says a penalty can be applied for every wrong claim/renewal put forward - a maximum of £3k each renewal on top of paying back sums owed. -

A on/off relationship and v.bad money management on my part. Lost my eldest daughters father and was always petrified of a relationship b/down. Lots of different factors tbh. Hopefully they take it all into consideration when they call? sorry I have scribbled all over letter. It just says so and so listed at address and telephone interview scheduled and to take the call?! Hard not to panic I guess! -

Does anyone know from experience or from other people in this position in the past if HMRC add the maximum £3k penalties to each year in addition to what you have to pay back? God I am so stressed out -

Yes I am just quite happy to pay it back but I honestly don’t know if that will be an option either. Just have the keep everything crossed I suppose. Just want a full nights sleep. Affecting my whole life, kids lives as they don’t understand why I am so down. But know it is of course my fault. -

Thanks - it’s just so hard to keep calm. Feel like I am going crazy. I was feeling better reading people’s post but the Google searches tip me over the edge everytime. if anyone has any positive stories would love to hear them. Just feel like i know I was in the wrong but feel I will be the unlucky one they pick to take all the way through courts… -

Thanks for your response but a quick google search brings up pages and pages of cases whereby people have went to court/sentenced for tax credit fraud alone.
