  1. OK. I need to clarify. When I refer to bank charges I am talking about the interest on my overdraft. There are no specific additional charges such as overdraft set up etc. I intend to outline the financial hardship and irresponsbile lending by the bank and claim back the interest they have applied. Can I do this?
  2. thank you! will try. is there a letter template to claim the charges back? Do I need to describe the personal situation, hardship, etc?
  3. How do I know what is unlawful?
  4. To answer filrobbo - yes, many times. Tried to get a loan out to pay out the overdraft, but they just kept saying not to worry about it, as it's under our limit. What am I supposed to be adding up - PPI charge is the insurance they sold on the account for $12.95 a month (this has been running for 5 years)... And the other charges/interest/etc. - what do I need to do to claim this and can I claim this? Sorry - I just don't know about this enough and need some help!
  5. Ok, I got the ppi spreadsheet. Do I send a separate letter for other charges/interest/penalties? Is there a template for this? I looked on another website and it said that we have to explain the personal situation in detail. Thank you.
  6. Thank you. Ok, so no contract is ok? Is there a letter for Charges/Interest Fees? Can I claim these back? Can I combine PPI claim and charges? For financial difficulty - what do I need to prove it?
  7. Hi, Just received 4 boxes from HSBC following SAR letter. So, first and foremost - there is no contract! What does this mean??? and what do we do... Here is our situation: My husband had this account for 15 years. About 7 years ago it became joint after we got married. For years, this was the only bank we used. It went in and out of overdraft. But about 5 years ago, we stopped using it. However there would be an occasional charge and/or direct debit which would keep the overdraft going. This made the account go from 0 to 9K, which is out limit and for the last 3 months it's over the limit, now they are demanding payments and reported this on our credit file. We tried on numerous occasions to resolve, settle, come to an agreement but were always told that nothing can be done and it's all fine as long as we are under 9K. I even tried to close, but no luck... a few questions. PLEASE HELP! - No contract - what do we do? - A number of accounts listed with closed dates unknown - Fees/etc - what are we supposedly to be looking at and how are we adding this up? There is a min of £150 monthly, plus £12.95 ppi - How far can we go back? - Letter template? - Personal issues? What are the types of things we should mention? - Difficulty - We were in financial difficulty for years, this account above contributed to this, in addition to other cc mishandled.. . However now we are doing ok and focused on repaying everything. Does our current financial status matter? - We are not currently living in UK - does that matter. PLEASE HELP! ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR EVERYONE'S HELP HERE !
  8. HELLO ALL! About to get all the information back from SAR Requests. Any advice on what happens next??? PLEASE HELP!
  9. Really appreciate your reply. THANK YOU! Please can you elaborate? I'm lost at this. - So I should fire off the SAR letters to all of my creditors? - In the meantime, should I make any payment arrangements at all? - Only deal with the cards on my CRa file? You mean credit file, which agency is the most prevalent for this? - What do I do with others? - What do you mean for 'reclaiming first is a priority' THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!
  10. Hello, In desperate need of advice. Have 9 cards (including 2 overdrafts) with £45K to repay, most of them are with credit agencies. in the last 2 years I started a new business, have lost some freelance work and was also owed a lot of money by my previous employer, as a result neglected some payments with my cards as I couldn't afford them and cash flow was a contact problem. Fortunately, I received a chunk payment now and am now in the position to repay all debt. However, I would like to negotiate a settlement (as most of it is made up of bogus fees) down as much as possible. I tried it myself and have been successful with one company bringing it down by 20% (not included above), however others seem most interested in having lengthy script conversations than collecting settlement offers. I also would like to preserve my credit rating or make sure this is part of the resolution, as I have a mortgage to renew in December. If my credit rating is damaged, then there is no point paying off the debt in full. But if I can agree for them to strike certain things off record, then it's worth paying off in full. I don't live in UK at the moment as well and am not seeking any extended credit from anyone. Mortgage renewal is the only concern. So my questions is - what would you experts advise in terms of above. Are there solicitors out there who can help me resolve this once and for all? Any advice much appreciated! THANK YOU!!!
