  1. The same happened to me, I became financially unstable back in 2005 when my husband was posted to Cyprus till 2008 as in the army. We received bank charges every month whilst in another country most times up to £200 per month, DD were getting missed, ridiculous charges for card purchases and cash withdrawals because of being in another country. Sometimes it would take up to a week for card transaction to come off our account. Our account was a mess. I had been a customer with Barclays for over 10 years. No correspondance was received from them relating to our repeated cycle of being overdrawn. By June 2007 we went through a DMP. I had a loan, CC and Overdraft with Barclays. My DMP arranged a plan with Barclays to settle these. As soon as the request was received by Barclays they sent me a letter dated mid July 2007 that they would not accept my offer. They terminated my account end of that month, took the overdraft back £1000 plus bank charges as my husband wage went in at end of month. I never recieved this letter till first week of august as it takes around 3 weeks to receive mail through BFPO mail. This was because I went through a DMP and I had missed one payment off my CC and Loan in June. Barclays left us in a country where we had no help, bank account and no money with 3 young children and bills to still pay. I am still having problems with them today regarding the default they placed on my loan in 2007. I was issued September 2007 however they never put this on my credit file till I left my DMP in Jan 2013. They decided to lace it on my Credit file Jan this year. I am foaming as this should be off my file now as its passed 6 years. They also put an AP marker on my file for my CC for a whole 5 1/2 years. Not the up to 6 month like the ICO states. So I have sent Barclays totay a nasty letter regarding my credit file to get everything removed, will see what happens. I dont know if Ive left it too late to complain about how I was treat in 2007 as I would not have had to use a DMP if they stopped charging me each month. Any advice???
