  1. Svetlana I also never received an email, either notifying me that an answer had been posted, or the actual answer. When I told Legalcare this, they sent through the date, time and answer. Unfortunately for them, the question I asked was answered incorrectly. So I then asked the name of the solicitor who had answered my question, and where he worked. I have since reported him to the Law Society for failing to provide accurate advice. Legalcare accepted my offer of £19 to settle the matter. I'm waiting to hear from the Law Society as to the outcome of their findings.
  2. Was your question answered fully and correctly? Find out the name of the solicitor who answered it. Those would be my first steps.
  3. Svetlana What was the question, and was it answered correctly? Have you tried to find out who the solicitor was that answered the question? These details are important.
  4. It's sad and very curious how so many intelligent people have been caught out by Legalcare. I was wondering why would a qualified lawyer who already works long hours become an associate of Legalcare. And then I also wonder what makes a non-solicitor become a Legalcare associate.
  5. Slick Thanks, I'm just pleased it's finished. Dealing with these kind of people is just not worth the aggravation and paying £19 is really not the end of the world. I do feel sorry for anyone who can't afford to even pay £19 though.
  6. To get Legalcare off my back, and move on with my life, I offered to pay £19 as a gesture of goodwill for not cancelling my subscription online. This was accepted by Paul Careless, it has now been paid, and confirmation that my account has been closed has been received. I have learnt a very important lesson and will most certainly be more cautious in future.
  7. How much money did you have to pay to join Legalcare as an associate? Did you get any money from them, and how long were you signed up for.
  8. I will start a new thread then. In the meantime I asked them to forward me the email they claim was sent notifying me of the answer (which I never received), and am still waiting for this. The name of the lawyer who allegedly answered my question was [name edited], who incidentally answered the question incorrectly. I will be talking to the Law Society about this person too. Legalcare operate a pyramid scheme, which is illegal. I am contacting the Advertising Standards Authority, my local trading standards, and if we ever get to court, a good friend of mine is a local journalist. I have had just about enough of this lot. There was a big class action against a prepaid legal services company in the USA, and the customers won. Perhaps we ought to start something like that here.
  9. Today I received a letter from gpb solicitors hoping to recover £278.00. Oh well, here comes another court case for them.
  10. I signed up on the 18th June, and cancelled via Paypal half an hour later. The question I asked was simple and not personal to me, it had to do with charity land. I was NEVER notified by email that the question had been answered. I actually wasn't bothered because I had already received an answer from the Charity Commission. On the 16th July I received an invoice. So Legalcare wait for the 14 day trial to lapse, and also for the 14 day cooling off period, despite the fact that you have not signed up to anything. When I informed them that I had not had a reply, they sent me a screenshot of the answer, which was incorrect. They're very quick to inform you that you haven't cancelled online, but has anyone asked Legalcare to provide proof that an email notification was sent, and that the question had been answered? How many people have had email notifications? They are preying on the vulnerable and ignorant.
  11. Legalcare's website is extremely misleading. Not only do you get the impression you are dealing with solicitors, but that the advice would be sound. The advice provided to me was most certainly incorrect. But as they say: For a small monthly subscription of just £19 per month (minimum 12 month subscription) you can have access to experienced Solicitors whenever you need them, from the small issues, to the life-changing ones. In the terms and conditions it goes on to say that: "Where appropriate your question may be answered by one of our in house legal advisers who are not solicitors but are legally trained. Any answer given by one of our in house advisers is meant as generic advice and should not be seen as a substitute for legal advice from a Solicitor." Surely, when you pay for legal advice you expect it from a solicitor. It is only once you have posted your question, paid your money you then go and read the TOCs. That's when you cancel pronto because it's a farce. If you look on Facebook you can see the type of people Legalcare employ. They are not solicitors, most of them are uneducated in law and in for a quick buck. Our bucks. Solicitors charge for time spent, this lot charge you for time you haven't spent. It's a dreadful [problem].
