  1. Hi I am still fighting with Customer Protect. I bought a Subaru Impreza from Devon Motor Company - One owner, full Service History, etc. etc. I took out a warranty as advised by them with Customer Protect (VERY STUPID). My husband drove my car from Devon to pick up his mother from Staffs. On the way back on the motorway the water pump failed. It was instant failure. The car has been properly maintained etc. Customer Protect sent out an engineer who said it was Possibly wear and tear and there was Possibly engine noise prior to it failing and it would have overheated. The enine shows no signs of overheating and bascially what their "independant" (!) engineer said was a load of twaddle. Various other engineers have looked at it and basically the report is utter rubbish. Water pump failure on a Subaru is almost unheard of. I spoke to Subaru Technical Team and they said if it was a water pump failure it would have been instant. I spoke to their customer services who did not want to be drawn in - basically weren't interested in helping either. The car has only done 50,000 Miles so should not be a timing belt issue - another possiblity from Customer protect engineer. Basically they are worms and try and wriggle out of any situation. They are latching onto the ambiguous statements from their not so Independant engineer from Automotive Consulting. They are getting paid by Customer Protect after all! My advise to anyone is do not use under any circumstance. I would however be interested to hear if anyone has ever managed to get any money back from them.
