  1. emergency...there's been a fight in the biscuit tin, a guy named Rocky has hit a penguin over the head with a club... made me titter
  2. I just read your last post. Your situation must be hard for you, and I think that eveyone on here can see that you're trying really hard and doing your best to find a job. I did think that with regard to a lot of jobs, that once a conviction is spent, then a candidate needn't inform a potential employer of that conviction. I don't know for sure what the time limits are, and I think that it might be different depending on the nature of the crime in question. Some employers are able to ask for an enhanced CRB disclosure, and in this instance all cautions, reprimands and convictions are included, but such disclosures are usually required for particular types of jobs, for instance care work, teaching or jobs in the financial industry. I would contact NACRO as you say, they will be able to help and perhaps put you in touch with potential employers. I'm not a religious person, but I am hoping for the best for you, you deserve a break, it will come- probably when you least expect it.
  3. My little boy asking me to take a look at his 'pipples' as they felt sore. As you can imagine, i howled with laughter as he pulled up his jumper to show me his rather pink looking joggers nipples. After applying much trusted germolene, I went on to explain the difference between a nipple and a pimple...what joy! Have giggled all day!
  4. By the sound of things the employer doesn't seem up to much. Maybe a visit from the environmental health department would be more appropriate and provide a better outcome for both the agency workers and employees involved, not to mention the company's customer, and dare i say it the end consumer! The poor agency worker who is obviously really worried about this matter could walk in to another agency on Monday and be placed elsewhere relatively quickly; from my experience, and i know someone who has worked for a few agencies, they take new workers on swiftly, and don't press for references all too often, and in any case he/she could ask a previous employer for a reference. What i'm trying to say is that whilst waiting for the outcome of any disciplinary, it might be best to try to be placed with an alternative agency,to be working and have some money coming in. Believe me, it is unlikely that the agency involved with show much loyalty towards their workers, they will probably just move on to the next name on their list.
  5. I wouldn't bother with them. How ridiculous to pull you up on something like that anyway, how can anyone be expected to go through pallets full of mouse poo. These agencies should be stopped, it's completely wrong how a lot of agency workers have to work for lower pay, and with fewer employment rights compared to the employees they work alongside. All hail the ConDems- labour were going to bring in equal pay and better rights for agency workers, can't see this happening with this lot in government. Perhaps Mssrs Cleggeron would like to spend their days checking out mouse poo & then be suspended for not detecting enough of it, i'd laugh if i didn't feel so sorry for agency workers. It's exploitation at its worst; it thrives on the insecurities felt by the most vulnerable workers in society &wants stopping. Apologies for the rant everyone, but this really does tick me off
  6. they might have done this, it takes ages for letters to get to you. I really don't want to phone again, I have had enough, truly. The only other thing I can do is to stop the claim, that way they're not paying me any more, if i'm losing out then so be it, or if they come back in the future over it at least i haven't carried on receiving the money. The worry caused by uncertainty over it just isn't worth it.
  7. I don't know whereabouts you live, but if you're anywhere near stoke-on-trent there's a factory shop where they sell tiles and anything else you'll need like adhesive and grout etc. They have quite a good selection of floor and wall tiles, my mum had her kitchen and bathroom tiles from there and there was plenty to chose from, & very cheap.
  8. My guess is they will send another standard letter, and nothing in detail.
  9. Sounds like yours has been looked at & is ok. must be a huge relief.
  10. I would go for tiles, it might cost more up front but it will last a lot longer than laminate flooring. I have laminate in my hallway, had it layed less than two years ago, and it was expensive, think it was £400 and something and it's a small hall. I've got a little one and a dog and am forever cleaning it with a damp mop wrung out tightly. The joints in the laminate are starting to raise already, and as I said it wasn't cheap laminate at all and we had it professionally laid with underlay. If your conservatory is used a lot and will need cleaning often, i would definately go for tiles, but tiles need to be properly laid, I had a bad experience with a suspended floor many years ago, and my tiles cracked really badly, it cost me a fortune to have the floor levelled afterwards. Concrete floors are best for tiles, otherwise it's throwing your money away. If your budget won't stretch to tiles, have you thought about vinyl flooring, you can find some lovely vinyls now, it isn't what it used to be. I had some in my hallway at the flat we used to live in, and everyone commented on how nice it looked, it looked like laminate, but wasn't, fooled everyone
  11. were they ok with you about it, it looks like you tried to sort it out as i have been. Is there or has there been mention of taking it further. Just looking for some reasurrance i guess. I'm waiting to see if Erika has any further thoughts on this, could do with a bit of advice. Thankyou
  12. What a horrible situation. I can well imagine the atmosphere on the ward, it must be said that hospitals are no different from any other workplace when it comes to gossip and tickle tackle, in fact i'd say that they may be worse. I used to work in one, and despite the fact that i loved my job, I left because of the way some of the staff were. If I was your wife, i'd say little until asked, and certainly wouldn't implicate myself in any way beforehand. From past experience when someone known to a member of staff on a personal level is admitted on to a ward, the member of staff concerned has the opportunity to work on another ward until that person is moved or discharged, they just switch staff over. This is so that situations such as the one in which your wife has sadly found herself don't happen. Hospitals are public places, and as such there is a fairly good chance that most employees who live locally will come in to contact with someone known to them, whether it be a family member or a neighbour etc. It'll give the powers that be something to chew over i guess, but tell your wife not to worry too much.
  13. hello Isn't it an awful situation to be in. I guess that some might not be bothered and wouldn't give it a second thought, but I like you am not like that. I'm not tough enough, and never have been. i don't feel more settled. the only other possible explanation is that i've misunderstood the rules, it is complicated to say the least and you could think one thing then another time after time. i really do not know. One thing's for sure i will certainly never forget this. Erika, any thoughts? many, many thanks
  14. i hadn't heard anything from them so i called, i was told that I am entitled to it, I still don't feel completely sure about it. I don't know what to do. I'm worried in case they come back later and say that I shouldn't have been getting it after all. the person I spoke to didn't say why they were still paying it, but then i didn't ask.
  15. I could see my head on said spike just now, not a pretty sight i might add. I have settled into what can only be described as a moderate tremor
  16. I can understand how worried you are, but there are some smashing people on here who will be able to help you, they have been very kind to me. I don't know an awful lot about TCs, but I do know that you can make an unprompted disclosure; it is what it says, that you go to them with the information, and not them coming after you. For the current year it is simple, you just tell them the actual figures or information. They can open previous years, but I think they have a procedure to follow in order to do this. The folk on here will be able to advise you better than I can, i'm no expert. I just wanted to try to ease your mind in telling you that you can do this. I'm sure that someone will be able to help you more.
  17. Hello I'm worried that they might take action against me, & i don't know if i've dropped myself in it more than necessary. Do you think that they will take action against me for this? Thing is, i don't know when to expect to hear from them, it could take ages if they're investigating it, I hope this doesn't mean a naughty investigation? This is what's worrying me the most. What do you think they'll do? I could be waiting for ages to hear anything, and the longer they take, the more worried i'll get because i'll be thinking that they're going through everything to make a case against me.
  18. I was very nervous, and managed to explain it all. The person that i spoke to was very nice- couldn't have wished for anyone better really. Said that it is being put down in the best possible way for me, and that i was being honest with them. that someone would look at it and that they would let me know, also said that it could go either way, and that someone else would make the decision. (i think this means the decision as to whether i should get it)- well i hope that's what this means? said that they would investigate it- i hope this doesn't mean a naughty investigation?- this is worrying me a lot, and will do for goodness knows how long. I hope that i've done the right thing. They could come down on me like a tonne of bricks, and all hell break loose; (mixing metaphors)!, despite how nice the person was today. I know this is wishing my life away, but i wish it was this time next year and i felt settled and knew what had happened. I don't feel any better having done it- i'm still off my head with worry. But this is the only way that I was going to bring an end to it all. Erika and Priorityone, if/when you log on, can you post back to me please, i'm in need of a hug (& lots of diazepam)!
  19. I don't know whether to laugh or cry, both are equally appropriate. A brilliant letter, well written, and let's hope it hits a nerve. Bring on the response, can't wait to read it
  20. don't know if they have, i hope they have noted down what i said the last time i called them thank you
  21. thank you so much, you're a star!
  22. Erika will you check over my letter please. I've tried to do as you suggested, but will you have a look at it for me before i send it many thanks
  23. hello can anyone tell me if i should send it RD. thanks
