  1. What happened to the threat of court action? They know that this threat has not worked, so have changed tactics by referring the debt on. Stand firm and they will have a similar lack of success. Sounds as though they are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now!
  2. magsgibson, I know that the threats make you feel uncomfotable but please remember that you have done nothing wrong. You are being threatened & intimidated because these companies have nothing else in their armoury. They know that many people will pay up for a quiet life and this is how they manage to keep operating. Please have a good look at all of the threads. There are loads of people in the same boat as you, all of whom start out worried and end up simply being angry at the way they are being treated. Good luck.
  3. Court Proceedings Ltd. The name never fails to make me laugh. Everything they do is designed to intimidate you, particularly the 'pay up or we will ruin your life' letters. Stand firm and leave these low-lifes in the gutter where they belong.
  4. Agreed. I no longer shop anywhere with carparking looked after by ECP on principle.
  5. Oh for goodness sake. You can appeal 'til you are blue in the face. The parking companies DO NOT CARE. How can an appeals procedure possible be fair when the company acts as both prosecutor and judge.
  6. It is absolutely a question of morals. ECP stick to the letter of the rules rather than the spirit. Their victims are equally entitled to take the same legal approach. End of discussion.
  7. Fairplayforall. You seem like a decent bloke. Why on earth are you employing ECP to look after your carpark. You gain nothing financially but may be alienating your customers!
  8. I think that we will have to agree to disagree. I may be a silly person, but I have never blatantly tried for a free ride. I try and be fair and honest, but ECP do not!
  9. I am sure that you are trying to make an honest living Fairplayforall and I don't mean to offend. I think that the point of this thread is that the large parking companies do not give a flying f*** about anything except making a fast buck. People expect to be treated with decency and (just perhaps) a little flexibility and understanding. How else are people to react when confronted with some of the situations on this (and other) threads.
  10. Not a [EDIT]. Just object to shelling out cash for a situation that is not my fault. And bvy the way, people regularly park over my drive and obstruct it. I could try slapping a 50 quid fine on them but I suspect that they would just laugh at me.
  11. I thought that we had established that you have no legal powers to impose a 'fine'.
  12. Most people are not after a free ride. I expect and am willing to pay a fair price for parking. I have recently been given a ticket by ECP for a situation that was not my fault (ticket machine not working). Most people work hard. Why on earth should they be intimidated into paying their hard earned cash on exhorbitant fees for minor infringements of parking. This is nothing short of money with menaces and should be regarded as such.
