  1. I bought AA Warranty (at the time unaware it was Motorway Direct PLC) We had a issue with the car it kept cutting out while driving. We called RAC recovery they checked the engine codes and found no errors. The RAC told us to drive it home and the RAC followed us home, to see when it would cut the engine so he can rescan for the codes. It cut out twice and still nothing on the error codes. Called AA Warranty once we were home, they asked us to take the car to Halfords Garage. We took the car there, they had it for a day and we got a call saying "we took the car for a test drive, there was a bang and we need to inspect further". AA Warranty sent a 3rd party engineer to inspect the problem, the car was soo damaged that it was undrivable. The engine was too damaged, pistons hit, valves bent, many teethes from the cam belt shredded. AA Warranty said they will not cover the claim because we drove the car to destruction. Halfords Garage claim they did not test drive it. I asked them if it is the the condition you say it is, how was i able to drive it to Halfords Garage. They said the point of distraction must have been exactly the moment i parked the car at Halford Garage.... And Halfords told AA they did not test drive it, the car wouldn't start from the parked spot. They will not cover the claim because I should have recovered the car to Halfords Garage not driven it. On the phone when first making the claim, they did not tell me that, They only said take the car to Halfords Garage. Halfords said to take our car back, and we will have to pay for the labor they used to strip down the engine, as AA warranty refuses to pay. And if we want them to put it back together we would have to pay extra labor charges for that too. That was the first time I bought warranty and it will be the last time. They were very reassuring on the phone when they are trying to sell the warranty, but when it comes to making a claim, they will point out all the small print, and try their best to get out of honoring the agreement. I have canceled all my business with AA and will not trust them again. They are selling their trusted brand to companies like Motorway Direct PLC who are abusing it by abusing the trust people have in the AA brand.
  2. Thank you for your advice guys. They give me more then their first offer. Cat D write off, i let them have the car because i do not wish the hassle of getting it repaired etc.
  3. Hi, I bought a car on monday 14th June. That night i noticed a warning light, i called on tuesday, the dealer said there is nothing wrong with the car, he knows about this warning light and had it checked out by his mechanic. But i took it to an other garage and had it checked. They reported that that it has a bad TCM which needs to be replaced the cost of this repair can be from £1500 and up. I called Audi to ask about the Error code, and the warning light, they said the same thing it could be the TCM and gave the same quotation for the repairs. I contacted consumer direct, they said I can request a refund, i should put it in writing and post it to them. I posted a letter to request a refund using the consumer direct templates. I also attached a copy of the report from the garage. I sent the letters, one to his home address, and one to his office address. The home address was signed for and delivered. The Office address says he was out when it was delivered. However he says he has not received the letter from him home too, because he does not live there, but his wife does. I informed consumer direct with this, now they are saying, it is upto me if i want to take the car there from him to inspect before the acknowledgement that he has received our request for a refund, or i can wait till he gets the letters. I have been told by the garage that they can turn the warning light off, but it will come back in a few days, and not to leave the car with him because he can always get a TCM from a scrap and put that on and say there is nothing wrong with the car. If i take the car to him, he rejects my refund and turns the warning light off, and if i take it back could it mean i am accepting that he has fixed the car? What should i do?
  4. How to Deal with Car Insurance Write Off Hi My Problem My Car My Insurance Company I need advice on how to deal with the insurance company with this. This car is precious to me as any car would be to their owner. It is more than a matter of monetary value but more of convenience. The car drove perfectly like a dream, even though it is old. The problem is, the money I will get from the insurance company, i don't believe it will be enough to buy an other car. I want to ask what is the best way to deal with the insurance company to make sure i get the best deal. And MORE importantly is it possible to get the money from the write off AND get my car back to repair it privately, AND Continue my insurance with them till end of the policy? I don't mind buying a new car, but i doubt they will offer enough money for a replacement car.
