  1. Hi Interestingly I have a 2005 Vectra 2.2i auto and have just had a conversation with both the dealer and vauxhall customer service who have advised that my car is outside of the range for repair of the timing chain tensioner. Could be facing a bill of £1000!! The next steps are for a vauxhall garage to inspect it, which I am liable for, and then Vauxhall MAY provide a good will gesture dependent on the results...... this seems to be an extremely common fault. Now having to write to the Managing Director to see if I have any recourse .... not sure where this will get me?! Has anyone else gone down this avenue and if so, was it a favourable outcome or am I wasting my time?! PS *having now had three costly manufacturing faults with vauxhall it will be last time I buy vauxhall .... seems they need to sort there supply chain or quality inspection issues out!!
  2. Hi Very interesting about the trace confirmation and the matter about Sky. I have sent about 10 letters to Sky and cc'd to SRJ Debt recovery agency requesting evidence of a debt they say I owe for two subscribption charges back in 2005 of £93.00. I did have a contract in 2003 and moved out end of 2003/2004. Looks like I continued paying this until December 2004. I have sent them a harassment letter as set out in the OFT Debt Collection guidance by recorded delivery and received a letter back from Sky 'stating we have checked your acct and unfortunately, we are unable to refund your subscription payments as requested'. I have requested evidence in every single letter and disputed the fact that I owe this money. I find there response unacceptable and I am getting really bored of it now. Oh and my credit history is excellent which implies this was never registered on my file - only now when it is coming up for statute barred (last payment from my records was in Dec 2004)! I think this can only go to Court now but not sure what my options are now, any ideas?
  3. I sent a template letter found on the national debt website to SRJ and cc to Sky regarding an alleged debt of £93 back in Sept/Oct 2005. The letter had a return date of 25th - guess what I have had no response. Phoned Consumer Direct today to seek where I go next and to be honest didn't appear to be very helpful. I then phoned national debt helpline who suggested I write again with a further reasonable time period and this time send it recorded delivery. they also advised to make reference to the OFT, Trading Standards and the Financial Ombudsman who I have been advised may investigate credit agency complaints ......... any advice on next steps appreciated as I do not want to keep spending all my money sending letters and making calls on a debt that I know is not mine.
  4. Great, appreciate your advice. I am 100% sure the debt is not mine having checked my bank statements now, as it was so long ago I was a little hazy but not any more.
  5. Hi thanks .... will send the letter and keep my fingers crossed.
  6. I received a trace and now a referral for litigation for £93 for sky subscriptions in 2005. Debt is not mine as I moved and closed account in 2004 and having phoned Sky and wrote numerous letters don't appear to be getting anywhere. I have been hounded by these cowboys. Have phoned Consumer Advice who have advised to send recorded delivery letter to sky outlining all evidence and request evidence debt is mine. Shed loads of stuff about SRJ and I won't take any more calls from them. sky have made an error of which I am 100% sure ...... they are not getting a penny out of me.
  7. Hi funny that... I have also received a letter from SRJ Debt recoveries initially as a trace confirmation then referral for litigation for £93 also in 2005 with Sky. Not heard a thing from Sky/SRJ until now. I closed the account 2004 and moved in 2004. I have also found out that credit card payments were made in 2005 (not by me) and when they changed there system a few years ago, they advised they could not give me this evidence to state who paid this as it had not been inputted! having started to investigate, I have traced my direct debit history and found a really low db which suggests I closed the account. I am now 100% sure I do not owe them a thing think they have tied the account up to the wrong person or its a computer glitch! I am writing to them again with evidence from my bank statements folllowing a discusion with the Consumer Advice helpline to request evidence the debt is mine. They also advised to write to SRJ to request put debt on hold as taking matter up with Sky. Not getting a penny from and I will take this to OFT, TS and watchdog, cancel my current sky account.... blah blah. Weird thing is my bank said if I had defaulted in 2005 I would not have been able to get my mortgage in 2006!
