  1. I've received a demand for payment of £691.20 from the Legal Services Commission, giving me 4 days to pay. Dated 21/2/12, received 9/3/12 (no postmark, bulk mail), payment is required by 13/3/12, it is the first communication received from them since my certificate was revoked last October. I have several issues with this: 1. Do I have to pay a demand when no bill has been issued? 2. The matter has now been referred to their Debt Recovery Unit, yet no reasonable time has been allowed for payment. 3. The amount demanded is £125 greater than my solicitor's claim (per CLS CLAIM1A form) 4. I want to dispute the amount claimed in the CLS CLAIM1A form. An amount is claimed for 'Advocacy Costs': when my solicitor appeared for me in court (re. family matters), the judge asked her to withdraw because she had previously counselled my ex (without disclosing this to me) and my ex objected to her participation. I therefore had to represent myself and I received no 'Advocacy'. It seems to me that I am being subject to duress:- 1. Is it legal/ lawful to demand payment without a bill? 2. Is it legal/ lawful to demand payment within such short notice? 3. What redress do I have when a key element of the service to which the demand relates was not delivered? How can I best resolve all this? I have emailed the LSC but they simply refer me to their Debt Recovery Unit.
  2. I checked the 'out of time route' and it seems that is only applicable if I were unaware of any notifications prior to bailiff actions. I did receive the statutory notifications prior to the bailiffs getting involved. Where does this leave me re. taking the heat off my former landlady? The bailiff has still not responded to my voicemail.
  3. Thank you - I like simple! Would the 'out of time' route be valid given that the warrants were issued in january this year?
  4. That's a possibility, if I could find a public fax. Thanks. Will they still pursue my ex-landlady if I don't give them a new address?
  5. ...and the Scots are the most successful ethnic minority in the US! Seems they're onto something...
  6. Hi, I used to buy old rings, broken jewellery etc. The best price I gave was £5 per gram on 9ct gold. Most online buyers give no more than £3. Local jewellers are always the best bet, they'll give up to £6 a gram for scrap, more if the ring can be re-sold to a customer, so try a jeweller with a 'pre-owned' display. Good luck!
  7. Bailiffs (Equita) are going to a former address claiming for some PCNs (my car is still registered there). I don't want my ex-landlady to be bothered. I have phoned the bailiff and left voicemails with a phone number to contact me, but no response. I haven't lived at that address for over a year; currently I live 150 miles away, staying on a friends sofa, claiming JSA and no fixed abode. I don't want to reveal my friends address and cause her any bother. Now, I want to deal with this (although I can't currently pay anything and am in debt) without getting anyone else in trouble. The bailiff hasn't responded and the only email available is on their website which requires and address (and nat. ins. no. !!??) which I won't fill in. What can I do?
