  1. Thats awsome!! One less niggle for people to worry about =) So does anyone a little more knowledgeable than me know what the future holds now this Digital Economy Bill is set to pass? Are all those innocents out there who have already been accused of file sharing going to get even more letters demanding payments based on the fact that they are now responsible for their internet security? Sounds daft to me. You can have all the wireless security in the world wired up to you account, but if someone can clone an IP, then what guarantee do you have of remaining 'innocent'? Other than never using the internet of course?
  2. A sudden thought. ACS:law are aparently acting on behalf of digiprotect and are asking for settlement as I aparently uploaded 'one' song. The song was on a 3cd album with many other songs and artists etc. Surely digiprotect cant represent every artist on that album?!?!? If they've been connecting to torrents and/or seeding uploads to track IP's, does that mean they have breached the copyright on all the other artists tracks at the same time? I'm a bit vague about all this stuff, but is that correct?
  3. I've had some good news. Spoke to my old ISP today and asked them to confirm my previous static IP. According to their records for my account the IP was different than the one on the claim sent through by ACS. I've given them the IP provided by ACS and they say their programmers are going to look into it and get back to me tomorrow. Looks hopefull so ive got my fingers crossed. If it turns out ACS are wrong I'll finally be able to relax enough to keep some food down. Watch this space
  4. Thanks flyyyt, I appreciate your advice. I'm just in a major panic now through fear that I've implicated myself for something i didnt do. After reading up on everything on other forums and help sites etc, I am now 100% confident that I have done nothing wrong. My admission was only in response to the downloading of said music (which I realise I didnt do anyway) and not uploading. I'll speak to a solicitor and see about how i go about recinding this comment. As for the uploading I know i cant of uploaded anything because the client I use is purely for downloading anyway. If necessary I'll happily testify to this in court. If Andrew Crossley is brave enough that is. Dont panic peeps. This guy is grasping at straws.
  5. :-| Muppet here is one of the few people who panicked when receiving his letter and agreed to pay. I admit ive downloaded a few things in the past under the false assumption that is was ok if you owned a legit copy. How stupid do i feel now - lol The problem was my brother received the notification letter as the internet was in his name at the time. I recognised the track in question and imediately set about to clear his name, e-mailing this ACS company confessing my sins and asking them to reissue paperwork with my name on it. I automatically assumed I was responsible - Doh!! Naturally I'm beyond hope now, but on reflection I think we may be onto something that would help your cases. I'm almost certain that this supposed album wasnt one of those that i had actually downloaded. Also, reading through the backlog here i noticed that the offences are in relation to uploading/sharing the material, and as I used to use a leacher only client with 0% upload I surely cant be at fault anyway. With this in mind my good bro checked the old internet paperwork at the time we cancelled, and our IP address doesn't match the one contained in ACS's claim. We've always used to have a fixed IP and are fairly certain that it never changed. Also am I right in thinking ACS's information claimed by the courts for these latest claims was for the end of last year only? If this is the case then surely something is amis as the alleged offence was commited in April 09? We'll be getting in touch with our old isp on the morrow and double checking things. I'll keep you informed on what they say. For you other people out there who've received letters - DONT BE A MUPPET TOO. DENY DENY DENY!!!
