  1. It is written in the contracts that due to a collapse or insolvency we must accept the alternative training provider as provided by the finance supplier, ie barclay's but barclay's have been playing a nasty little game all along and this is why some of us are standing on Parliament Square next Sunday to get this situation publicized a lot better than it has been. If we do nothing but talk and not act then Barclay's etc will have the run of us and all our money and you know they will. If you wanna act, then get to Parliament Square next Sunday.
  2. GUYS AND GIRLS - This is a legitimate Protest for Advent & Access2Trade students to get their voices heard. SUNDAY MARCH 7th @ 1PM, PARLIAMENT SQUARE, CENTRAL LONDON We are sick and tired of waiting and putting our lives on hold and we are about to forced to be contracted to another training provider that we DO NOT WANT! This is the only way to get your voices heard by the British public and most importantly the Government. We are emailing every Media entity we know and hope that people can actually stand up for their rights and join us. The MET has given us permission to hold a demonstration at Parliament Square next Sunday and everyone affected by this should do their best to turn up (at least have a day out in London!) The only way to get everyone in the same place was do it on the dreaded Facebook but at least on this protest group we can stay in one place and keep in contact. 3. Said I'd update you if like me you were planning to continue studies and looking for help, the IT Brewery info has done me proud. If I can also say that the facebook group is full of nonsense and i have since left that group to focus more of my energy reading the info on here as it appears to be of a higher standard and with much less bickering. So, big thank you to all the help posted here, even if people don't post their appreciation there are many hundreds more people here just browsing them silently. So keep it up!
  4. Like the idea of forwarding receipts to Barclays for additional study material we have to buy to maintain our studies somehow. Just ordered my disk from the itbrewery so i'll let ya know what it turns out like, I think my friend had some off them a few years ago and it was just rammed with info. Of course I'm thinking now that i really should have done my research before signing up to a TP. But I hope to learn from my possible big mistake!
  5. If anyone is actually going to proceed with the exams and want some testing software then have a look here. Advent screwed me over big time, I do blame advent not Barclays yet as tbh know one has had a proper factual answer or resolution to this problem. I've got my final comptia exam next week and no one to back me up so Ive had to go looking myself which i really didnt wanna do considering i just paid over £6K to advent. i was just at a loss so i tried everything!! given up really! CompTIA, MCSE, CCNA study disks with Guide books, courses, video tutorial, 10000s of exam questions only £5.99 - £6.99 IT Brewery IT Course DVDs
  6. The Government should do something but they're too concerned at the moment with destroying themselves over the Iraq thing or bettering themselves for the election. Although they could use this an election standpoint?! Having read everything on all the forums i suppose i am a little bit lucky to be with Barclays as they will do their best to find alternative training, if not then abolish the remaining loan. Last night I was more than depressed! This morning I was angry but now the whole thing is out of my hands so... maybe the best way to get over this is to let the finance people sort that side out and then tell yourself that you will succeed in the face of adversity. I will postpone my exam for a few days to get my head round this but I for one will not give up on my dreams it has been too long for me to give up now. I'm not going to let the downfall of a money grabbing company get in the way of my dreams!!! There are 6000 of us in this situation so lets rise above this terrible thing that has happened to us and not give up, lets prove to the doubters that we can still do this and let nothing knock us back. Let's all be strong, we are still on the right track for our careers and we can walk over all the collapsing companies in our path to get to where we want to be! I really wanna drink to my sorrows but can't coz i'm on bloody anti-biotics haha I emailed the story to the Sun, Mirror & Guardian. Chin Up Guys & Girls!!!!
  7. Just received a phone call from barclays partner finance. They have frozen the account temporarily and will send letters out to everyone within the next few days. They said it was not barclays who stopped the funding as they were happy to do so it was Advent itself that suddenly just ceased trading with no mention of this to Barclays at all. This is getting my back up quite a bit now! This means that the directors of Advent had suddenly shut up shop and in laymans terms - run off with the money. I only to have consider now that Barclays - a bank - after the administration will be finding us Computer training to match what we were doing - I signed a contract with Advent so i guess its now just one of those shocking little waiting games. But it was not Barclays fault and Advents directors are solely to blame for this! Like AWAX, I don't really want to this anymore...i'm disheartened.
  8. I found out about this last night, I have been with advent for 5-6 months and am due to take the final A+ exam on Monday, I am lost now and dont know what to do so I've taken it public for the simple reason that I took out the whole package with Advent to go all the way to MSCE. Below is the email I sent to the Sun Newspaper & Daily Mirror. 'Advent Computer Training has gone into administration and hundreds, maybe thousands of students including myself who were paying to train in IT to better ourselves are about to be thousands of pounds in debt with Barclays who is Advents Indemnity finance partner. I have been with Advent for 6 months and studying hard toward my first qualification. I was due to take the final exam for this qualification on Monday and start my career in IT but now the dream is over and any chance of a career has all but gone. To top it all off Barclays has turned round and said that we must continue to pay off our loans that had been organised through Advent Training even though the company no longer exists - I have five years left and still have to pay £6000 as do many many others. The talk on the forums is disheartening and I can see why people are sick of England. I for one having been unemployed for a few months tried to better myself by training with Advent in IT and now, not only do I not have a job or career that I had been so looking forward to and dreaming of, I am now about to be financially ruined. I hope this email is read as I amongst many others are at the end of the road. I'm leaving England this year, gotta be a better life out there somewhere!' I have also sent two emails to Barclays and am about to contact trading standards and the citizens advice, I am not paying for something I will not be getting. If that doesnt work then I write to the government. Of course this is all minor when you consider the fact that most people/students were virtually relying on advent for their careers. I personally have hit a huge roadblock in my career and life now so...I might just go down the pub...the location of the pub being the furthest most point away from kidderminster...maybe Kirkwall on the Orkney Island, that could be more fun than trying to contemplate what is happening with advent! I feel really bad for everyone involved in this and was not expecting this at all. Hope it sorts out soon! We will be contacted over the next few weeks by the administrators and any payments due to come out for loans will still come out over the next few days (like mine, although i'm causing more trouble by cancelling the direct debit) If we still have money to pay like myself once the company has been shut down by the admin people then our future debts are theoretically abolished depending on how they do it but anything paid, we will be very lucky to see any of it. This is **** and I just had this feeling that in the back of my head something like this would happen. Who has a training centre in the west midlands anyway, if it was a successful company it should have been in London. Made a terrible mistake, anyone in London wanna go down the pub!? Edit - Please dont post personal contact details on the open forum
