  1. BPF are seriously testing my patience with the conflict of information. Now after over a week waiting to hear any news from them that alternative training would be provided i had to ring up today and say i've not heard a word from you guys. Apparently if your account is closed or in "archive" you have to specifically request a letter to ensure that training will be provided. Last thursday they said a letter will arrive in the post when infact you have to ring to get one sent out! Secondly a BPF staff menber on Tues said they would consider a training provider of my own choice. Today they said you'll have to stick to the one BPF will fob us off with. Why can't they read from the same text book?!? This whole saga is taking me over the brink.
  2. I was just wondering if this was the date Advent and co knew they were in the crap so to speak. I spoke to an advent trainer on sunday who said the Advent Directors knew this was going to happen and to make it easy for themselves to pull the plug, take the money and run and then shed the entire blame on barclays. How can a company solely rely on a bank for their survival? Any other company would have contingencies and cash reserves for emergencies etc. this gets dodgier by the day!
  3. I'm really fearing the worst as to what barclays come up with in regards to "an alternative provider"....I spoke to BPF today and the chap said we'll look at finding you something that is "equal if not better" if not then we'll have to look into reimbursing you which is what happened to some students when another training company ceased trading last year. I'm still waiting for their letter. They said they should have something in place before the of this month. Right, here's my qualm....I'm on the Advanced Web Designer course (and would love to hear from anyone else that is) - can Barclays really find some training company that will provide phone support, email assistance, CV and interview tips and then also a hand in getting a job. The fact that Advent promised me after the course was complete and i achieved all the qualifications that they would more or less find me a position from "our database of well known employers" according to the infamous Robin Furness. Boy he was a cunning chap wasn't he?! That swayed me to sign up in the first place...looking at it now it seemed very far away and a mirage. If the alternative training isn't up to scratch no way in hell am i going to take it and i will fight for my money back by suing barclays! Breach of contract right?....
  4. Also Benann have you spoken to CAB or anyone taken any legal advice? A family member (lawyer for DLA piper) will be on the case tomorrow once all the paperwork arrives. I'm going to fight this with tooth and nail!!!!!!
  5. I think that would a great last resort if you don't get a penny...if monies if legally owned then one should exercise bailiffs - that range rover will be worth a few bob
  6. Evening everyone, Just catching up with the threads, does anyone know if Barclays Partner Finance has a deadline (by law) to find alternative training? I'm on the advanced web dev course and as far as i'm aware there are not many training companies that solely specialise on these industry subjects. If they can't find suitable training to my needs am i right to decline and ask for a refund? (which i want anyway ideally) is anyone else on the advanced web dev course on here? Again i've spoken to an advent trainer today who made some recommendations in regards to redeployment of training to which I'm currently researching online as we speak.
  7. Hi everyone, I spoke to an Advent trainer this morning for a good half an hour about this fiasco! I’m a student (only 14 months into the course) and I’ve paid off 6K to Barclays Partners Finance, spoke to them today and as previously mentioned they will send out a letter and be looking to switch my training elsewhere, which is a complete joke! This is a complete fob off, and the standards elsewhere could be even worse! I don’t trust Barclays on this one and I want my money back!! All say no to alternative training and demand your money back! The Advent trainer had the following to say: - 80 sales staff laid off before xmas – early signs? - Advent insolvency “nothing to do with the recession” - High possibility of fraud going on :o) - Recruited averagely 400 students a month with a turnover of £2million a month - The director is called ASLEY JONES. - “course is designed so students don’t complete the course which makes them more money” He’s also probably going to get peanuts when it comes to pay day. He was very sympathetic and knew something was wrong earlier this week when the caterers were being paid in cash rather then BACS. I’m from Manchester and if anyone knows where Robin Furness is I would like to know! – He’s not based in the Pricess st office apparently and has moved to king st 6 months ago. Lindsey0796 thanks for you advise and help on here! Really appreciated Anyone from Manchester on here? Lets talk and drown our sorrows L
  8. hi guys, i got the email earlier today too, so gutted considering all the endless hours i've put into this. I tried to grab hold of my agent who sold the course to me and i've learned he's moved to another office in Manchester, (failed to get hold of him) he guaranteed my money would be safe when i questioned him about how the company was ran, the recession etc. I've already paid the fees back in auguest (6K) and now i feel totally robbed, surly they must of known this was coming? Lets see what they have to say tomorrow. Keep us posted guys.
