  1. Don't write to them. Just ignore. They'll send about 4 or 5 letters in total, each threatening you with CCJs and things. The price will go up, then with the last one, the price will drop back down in one last desperate bid to get you to pay. Then they'll stop... If you keep writing to them, you'll only encourage them to send more letters and end up wasting money on stamps... Ignore...
  2. I'm now up to the discount letter from Debt Recovery - they'll accept a mere £119 instead of the £250+ they'd surely receive if they went through with court proceedings... Is this the last one or will they keep trying?
  3. Hmmm, very interesting... I was actually thinking of people from these companies posting under aliases leaving posts like "I didn't pay and got taken to court, fined £500 and a CCJ so you better pay up" - thus trying to scare those of us on here into paying when we don't have to... Still, it's useful to know that the professionals do come here...
  4. That picture looks like a blank form, looking specifically at the date section at the top of the page - I certainly can't see anything to suggest it's actually been posted. I have to say, it leads me on to something i did wonder. Do you tend to get posters on this site who actually work for one of the parking companies debt recovery services who post trying to scare people into paying? It was a thought that crossed my mind with this particular case because, from everything I have read, it a) sounds very unlikely and b) frankly sounds like it's an illegal path to pursue (sending out unwarrented threats that aren't back up by genuine court orders). So, is anyone aware of fake posts happening to try to scare us into paying? Or am I being overly paranoid?
  5. Quick thought people - I seem to remember Jeremy Clarkson publishing his account number and sort code and someone debiting a chunk of cash to charity to show him up. Well... On the letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd they list a RBS sort code of 16-00-01 and account number of 20891316 - just to help you pay that much easier... I'm just saying is all...
  6. They're getting quicker over this now. Just received my second letter from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd, a "NOTICE OF INTENDED LITIGATION", same as kep, above. "If you do not contact us following receipt of this letter we will have no alternative other than to assume you are avoiding payment. In this situation the account will be referred to our client for their approval to apply for a County Court Judgement against you. Please note that if legal action is necessary the amount outstanding may increase as follows:" ...And then they add n another £105 for court fees and solicitor fees. Of course, I have read the forum and read up on CCJs etc and know that they can't get a CCJ until I have refused to pay an amount the court has ordered me to pay, so I'm not falling for that. Judging from other people's comments, this may well be the last one (as they have very little in the way of options left, aside from actually going to court)... Ultimately, one assumes, they won't get the approval from their client that they refer to... Anyway, just keeping the steps up-to-date. I'll start freaking out when they actually issue a summons...
  7. Here's the latest progress on mine... Debt Recovery Plus have now mailed trying to collect and the price has gone up from £90 to over £140. Still ignoring them. Am curious to see how long it goes on for. It sounds, from the other posts, it'll take another month or so for the next two letters to come and then they'll give up. Kinda tempted to start a sweepstake on when the final letter will come! Thanks to all of you for the advice and for the forums in general...
  8. Hi everyone. Just joined for some advice and as this seems to be THE place for postings about any UKPC parking 'fines', it seemed ike the right place to post. Just before Christmas on one of the shortest days of the year, I trundled into town and parked where I usually do, in a car park outside a now out of business store, a short walk from most of the shops. It was pretty much dark when I got there. I walked around the shops, doing my last minute shopping before heading back an hour later and finding a ticket on my car. The ticket said it was because "Vehicle Owner Left Site". I was unaware the car park was anything other than free to use so I looked around for a sign and eventually found one. It was unlit and nigh on impossible to read. It was in the corner of the car park, tucked away so as to be unobtrusive, and would only really be found were you looking for it, particularly in that light. So my questions are, 1) is "Vehicle Owner Left Site" enforcible in the first place? They only provided evidence that my car was in the car park, though it is in front of an out of business store, though it depends on where they draw the line of the 'site' as there are connected shops around. 2) Should I just ignore the UKPC demands anyway, because of the type of company they are? 3) Or do I need to stump up the (now) £90 fine? Any help and advice will be very gratefully received. Thanks.
