  1. In Dec I bought a car in a barn. It was off the road and needed work doing to it.... It has never left the barn as welding still needs doing. 3 weeks ago I received a letter asking for tax of £75. I wrote explaining that I was unaware the sorn wouldn't carry over, that I purchased the vehicle late Dec and it has not been off the farm where I purchased it, I sorned as soon as I was notified, yet today received a standardised letter demanding the £75. MONEY MAKING SCHEME. STEALTH TAX
  2. My wife has 2 accounts that have been enforced by Ross and roberts - they came to the house and demanded £160 told me that they can force entry (at a cost to me for the locksmith) and they levied on my car, I did not let them enter my property - paid the £160 and agreed £25 a month....... and I today received a call stating that I had defaulted on the £25 pm agreement so they were charging me £160 and requesting full payment. I called them back with proof that I had not defaulted which when agreed that the charges could not be applied - I was told there seems to be a more recent amount (new order to ross and roberts)which means that I will be visited again to scrap the previous arrangement - levy again - so more fees and a new arrangement to be arranged. I stated that my situation hasn't changed and that it is criminal for a company to blatantly add indescriminate charges when agreements are in place. His only response was - a new instruction requires us to visit, levy and charge accordingly. Help
  3. Its for council tax - Quite a bit - I am self employed (work in sales for a uk arm of an american company) thing is I work commission only and get told where to sell (I cannot choose where I work) which means that money sometimes doesnt even cover travel food rent etc
  4. Received a letter poked through my door, it has a worrying statement in BOLD CAPS!!! The bailiff has the right to peaceably enter your premises and remove goods - even in your absence Is this true? Help please
  5. Hi all, I hope someone can help me with this issue...... I work in various tescos in the UK and when we had the bad snow I was working in Reading tesco. I pulled into a snow covered parking bay (no blue badge on post and no disabled sign visible on ground) When I finished work I returned to find ticket for £50 /£70 I wrote to them stating not clearly visible so they very kindly have given me more time to pay £50!! Is this enforceable?
  6. Hi all, Having applied to nationwide and being put on a list for considered refund action (way before the banks win in Nov) - I am wondering exactly how to proceed? If I am to start an action against the bank what are the considered steps available to me? The site has lots and lots of info but are the steps still current or are they a waste of time / money? Please help!
  7. HELP PLEASE I need to confirm whether or not the bailiffs can legally break in as they were incorrectly claiming details on walking possession order........... anyone? they are coming friday!
  8. Hi, Thanks for the info...... I have done nothing yet but issue a registered complaint with them. Do I go through the process of LBA etc? Sorry its a bit to take in!
  9. Hi, Before the oft case I requested that my complaint was recorded with nationwide against their unfair charges. Does anyone know when the banks will have to face the facts and refund those that have lodged complaints Will I have to do anything else to move this along?
  10. Does this mean that the signature on the walking possession order will not be valid also ie: they have no legal walking possession order?
  11. Received a letter from bailiffs quoting 2 accounts stating ORIGINAL balance due on ref no 1160011 of £487 plus £42.50 fees not dated account 2 1171842 £1134.76 plus £42.50 fees again not dated No letter back yet from council! Having checked all old paperwork it seems that my wife had previously signed a walking possesion order and subsequently paid a great deal of the arrears off - although since then my wife suffered her health issue, meaning no work etc. etc. I have read also on another thread that they cannot take settees or seating from the home (the walking possession order listed:- TV, TV unit, vcr, dvd, 2seater settee, 3 seater settee, wooden corner unit, 2 coffee tables) Does this make the order illegal/incorrect? Also I have read that my wife may be considered vulnerable regarding her health and the fact that she has been signed off from work now for the last 9 months - would a letter from the doctor help? Please all advice needed as these sub humans are stating that they are coming friday to collect goods
  12. Received another letter today!! This time from the council...... Quote I refer to the above (address) and your letter received 9th oct 2009 with regards your account with chandlers I can advise that as you have 2 accounts with chandlers, one of which has been with them since aug 2009 ( ibelieve that they mean 2008), I am unable to return this account to enable you to pay the swindon borough council You will need to continue paying chandlers until you have cleared the debt on this account. End quote Looks like I will have to write again to confirm 1. the reference numbers for both cases 2. balance due on both Then pay direct by standing order - Is that correct they cannot refuse? I dont want to deal with chandlers
  13. Hi all and thank you for any assistance in advance....... My wife has been suffering with a medical condition which led me to work part time back in Nov 08 up until approx 1 month ago. As with most things we became lax with payments to council tax and subsequently received a letter dated 6/10/09 from Chandlers referring to a liability order and bailiffs attendance for the sum of £737.50 on the 9th I sent the letter requesting a breakdown of costs levied - NO ANSWER as of 22/10/09 On the 10th we received another letter for £1134.76 plus statutory fee of £24.50 totalling £1159.26 On the 20th a FINAL NOTICE in big red letters giving total amount of £547.50 It doesn't seem as though they have a clue! - They also returned a cheque that was sent as first instalment - saying payment in full only as it has gone too far for an arrangement I also have written to the council on 9th Oct requesting an account of arrears, but no response as yet. The final demand letter states they will be calling next week to collect goods and chattels - Heeeeeeeeeeelp!
