  1. I've received a letter too... demanding £693.14 off me!! They also got my name wrong on the letter (I'm apparently "MISS" rather than actually being a bloke... hmmm...). I thought I'd phone 'em up and give 'em hell. It appears that HFO Services bought a load of accounts off 3 in 2007 but it's taken them 2 years to do anything. The weird thing is, I did have a mobile (for which I served the terms of the contract) and they are trying to bang with with another bill. And this for a contract phone that I had back in 2003... so, VERY close to being Statue-Barred, I beleive? I'm sending the "no knowledge" of debt letter and have demanded all the details they hold verbally, and have advised that I'm disputing this. I think it is absolutely DISGUSTING that they hit a load of people with this - less than a week before xmas - and expect us all just to pay up. Yeah, don't think so chums.
  2. Hi all, Thought I'd share this little nugget of info with you. Was on the phone to a really helpful chap at my bank last night (no, really, he was!) while I was moaning about excessive charges (omg they reversed one of them!), and he let slip a couple of very useful bits of info. The final decision of the test case re illegal charges is expected within the next week or so. He didn't tell me "officially" - but he did seem completely genuine, it was an "off the record" remark. He also mentioned he was expecting to have to put a lot of hours in over the coming weeks because things were going to get busier. Draw your own conclusions. With the other recent decisions by banks to lower their charges by over 50% (£15 per item for my bank, I know NatWest is £5 per item), I'd say this whole wait may soon be over, and we'll be able to finally get our money back!!
  3. Hi all, Long-time lurker, first time poster - thank you for all you do! I've not yet personally claimed but I love the wealth of information that you have here. That said, I do have a question if I may that I'd like some guidance on. In light of the decision by HBOS to reduce the fee for unpaid items from £35 per item to £15 per item from 1st November 2009 (specifically for the Halifax CardCash account, although others may be affected) - does this mean that we now have a legal standing to request at least part-payment of these charges that have been levied against us in the past? Thanks in advance, Ad
