  1. So no matter what, they have me by the short and curlies! and no matter what they do, i.e. turning ablind eye to foreign satellite channels, I have no rights! The Law Is An Ass!
  2. Could I sue Sky for disruption to business? Even if I didn't win the action it would cause them some problems with dealing with it! Everything is against the licensed trade, including those who need it.
  3. I'm a pub landlord and in December 2009 had SKY installed in my pub at a cost of £1200 per month, a hefty price based upon your rateable value and not how many you can fit in your pub! In late April 2010 SKY 3D was launched in pubs, the only thing you needed was to be with them for 6 months. I applied, but with only being with them for 5 months was inelligable. However the pub within 500 yards which had been shut for 3 months or so reopened and had it, plus a 2nd pub, again within a 5 minute walking distance was given it as well. The first pub, it was explained was a national account, they also get a discounted rate for it. The second pub shows illegal foreign sattelite channels on a Saturday between 3pm and 5pm, plus other games not on SKY TV at other times. My contract with SKY TV states 'exclusive rights to the Barclays Premiership matches, which clearly it isn't. The effect on my business was devastating with a mass exodus to these 2 pubs just before the games started. Plus with the 2nd pub having the foreign channels, they stayed there. For exaple Blackburn v Man Utd in 3D had as a follow up game on the illegal channels Liverpool v Fulham. I spoke to SKY who said if I waited a month I would be entitled to an upgrade! The damage had already been done! The 2 closest pubs were profiting. SKY knew that the 2nd pub had foreign satellite channels because they hade already been reported by other landlords in the area, but they still installed it. I've cancelled my SKY TV Business contract, which I had to take out for a year and now they want the balance of £7k plus. The OFT told me to speak to OFCOM, but it's not covered by them!! Any ideas of how to proceed?
  4. So Red Rebel, what site are you on now, maybe all the discontented owners may want to join you. Just a thought.
  5. Why be ashamed of stating facts and the truth and being concerned about the area for which you live and don't just visit. You just have to look at the coastal resorts of Bournemouth and Eastbourne and the effect that the massive influx of over 60's have had on the economy. The councils have serious problems with having only low paid caring jobs and the support that is draining the council budget. I'll be old one day, but I won't stand in the way of progress and the inevitable change brought to everyone. Maybe it's a British thing and standing in front of the bulldozers of progress. There's more important things in the world to devote your time to and not just whinging on about not being given an options, but there are options open to everyone in life, make it easy and choose the right one, don't get stressed about things, find a park with nothing on it, so there's nothing to whinge about. Or maybe go and chill at a football match and shout at the ref!
  6. No I'm not a salesman, but yes I do live in Kinmel Bay. I would like to remain a secret, just like Superman himself! The West End of Rhyl is one of the most deprived areas in Europe and has many plans to help rejuvinate it. The planned Plaza with Asda, housing, shops and a new harbour area are just the begining. Just search the web and you will see how many links there are to it. When the plans are completed, you will be able to use them all year round, unlike other parks in the area, thus yourselves and others bringing the revenue into the area. So as I stated in my opening reply, try looking at it from a different angle and help the local community. P.S. I have a Library ticket, but I've never borrowed a book, but I don't get my money back from the council tax I pay! I pay for the Mayoral car, but I never get to use it! I pay my car tax, the same as you, but don't do that many miles!
  7. Why not look at things from another perspective? As a resident of Kinmel Bay I think it's great that Golden Sands will be open throughout the year! The main reason being the fact that it's going to bring in extra revenue to the local area. Yes, it's cold, but so is Manchester, Liverpool and Stoke at that time of year! But many of the local businesses scrape through this time looking forward to the holiday makers and caravan owners return in March. Many of the people in the area are also unemployed and rely on the summer months to bring in extra revenue they desperately need. Read the local newspapers and you'll see how deprived certain areas are around here. The money you spend, in the club, Sandy Cove, the shop, at Asda, the petrol station etc., etc., will help keep these businesses going. Everyone knows how different the holiday trade is to 20 years ago, where the holiday makers came in March and left in October, now it's a week here and there and then the main 6 weeks! This at least goes some way to help bring back those heady days! (Although mainly just the weekends) Don't forget that all the businesses have to pay, rent, rates, water, electric and gas all year round and not just the 8 - 10 months that the parks are open. Every little bit helps (Thanks Tesco) So thank you to all those who will be down all through the usually cold and lonely winter, it's bound to be a lot warmer with you all around!
