  1. Hi if it was a £30 or £39 charge then it would have came out 7 days after the charge had been incurred. If it was a £28 charge then it comes out at the end of the following month and thats for being more than £30 overdrawn/over your overdraft at any point during the month.
  2. I agree with everything which has been said about excessive bank charges but isnt this just sending out the signal to people not to worry about trying to keep there finances in order and just go overdrawn as in the end they'll get there charges back? I think personally we are going down a rocky road and people need to watch out because sooner or later the banks are going to hit back one way or another whether its fighting these claims in court, incresing authorised overdraft charges, reducing interest rates on savings account or increasing personal loan and credit card APR's and in the end how ever much we kid ourselves they will win whether that means closing our bank account and black listing us or just charging higher rates I think we all need to try and encourage the bank to reduce the charges to a more realistic level instead of threatening them with legal action. Dont know whether anyone agrees with me or not but i'm sure i'll find out soon!
  3. Have to disagree with you there barracad! The way the debiting system wors with BOS is that: Standing Order within HBOS lowest amount to highest amount --> Standing Order outwith HBOS lowest amount to highest amount --> Direct Debits lowest amount to highest amount and the same for cheques lowest amount to highest amount i cant remember whether cheques are first or last though. But they are deffinetly honoured lowest to highest so that the most possible are paid. With regards to Jemfingers if you were £1190 DR and the cheque for £730 hadnt cleared your cleared balance would have been £1920 DR therefore actually over your overdraft and thats why these charges were incurred. The other thing is how did you incurr a £35 charge? the only possible charges with HBOS are £28, £30 or £39?
  4. With HBOS you get a £1.50 Charge for using your card in a forgein currency, So its advisable when using your card abroad take cash out of the ATM and use it for multiple transactions as its a £1.50 charge if u take €400 out of the ATM as it is for €10 debit card payment. Or the even better way of gettin around this and my personal favourite: Open up a Nationwide account for the sole use of being an account to use abroad as with them you dont receive any charges for using the card abroad!
