  1. My son, 18, bought a new motorbike - Aprillia SX125 back in September 2008, first thing that went wrong was the digital dash failed, so had to go in under warranty, the parts took forever to arrive, probably about 3 weeks but eventually got sorted. By December so only 3 months old the bike seized, was taken to an Aprillia dealer (not the dealer the bike was purchased from) 40 miles from home as this is where the bike broke down, the dealer was adament that it was my son's fault and that the bike (a 2 stroke) had been run low on oil and therefore seized resulting in a repair of £530!!! (This repair also took 3-4 weeks) The same day as the bike was collected and ridden home, a similar problem happened, phoned the breakdown and was recovered to our home, called the dealer who had done the repair who collected the bike the next day and informed us that the oil feed had come off but on inspection it seemed that there had been no damage done. Since then the bike has been serviced in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations, in April the chain and sprockets were replaced and after about a week the bike started to loose power, became noisy (bag of nails sound). We took the bike back to my local dealer (where it had been originally purchased) who said that they were unable to do anything with it as they assumed it was down to the previous repair which they didn't do so we should contact the other dealer!! Firstly I cannot believe that ANY approved Aprillia dealer cannot deal with a problem and that it would have to go back to where it was repaired, seem ludicrous to me, if this had happened in 400 miles away are we supposed to take it all the way back there. I have even spoken to Aprillia customer Services who gave me the same information!!! Secondly, when we went to collect the bike and I was with my son at the time, he went to the desk and asked for the keys to his bike as they were not going to repair it. The owner of the business who at the time was serving another customer stopped his conversation and said "NO", very bluntly. My son then repeated his request to which the owner shouted "I SAID NO" pointing his finger at my son. I then interjected "please can we have the keys back". The owner then became very aggitated, and started to swear at us. I explained that it was my sons property and that he was entitled to have his keys back to which this guy continued to refuse. This went on for some time until this very "pleasant" guy then threatened to hit my son, he came from behind the counter and phisically grabbed him. I have never been in such a difficult and uncomfortable situation in all my life. Eventually throughout this arguement it transpired that he was very annoyed that we had called Aprillia and made a complaint that they were not going to repair the bike and I can only assume that this was his problem. Anyway after sometime we eventually got the keys for the bike and returned home. Since then my son has been so upset with the whole situation that he parked the bike in the garage and left it there. Obviously this cannot go on. I'm really at a loss as to know where to go with it now. Yesterday I called the dealer who had done the repairs to the bike, he also was reluctant to help, and now he tells me that as they other dealer have replaced the chain and sprocket, the problem could lie with them. I'm sure you can imagine that I do not want to set foot in that place ever again in my life. I feel like writing to the national press or getting some legal help. Sorry this has been so long, but if someone else out there has had a similar issue with Aprillia I would be very grateful if you could tell me how you resolved it, and if not then what should I do :-x:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x
  2. There is something called rule of 78 which works on halves and thirds of a contract, I cant remember the full details and it may also just be related to a straight HP agreement which is different to a PCP, but worth checking out
  3. Hi, After lots of searching to find some help with my parking fine, I found this forum which has been great so far with the advice I have read. So far I have ignored the demands for payment, and true to what has been posted today I received a demand from Rossendales. Now I know you all say take no notice, they will go away. Will they really? I find all this scary. I have honestly done nothing wrong but I need some assurance from you guys. Thank You:confused:
  4. Hi, please can anyone help me with advice. I have received a parking charge from UKPC, my vehicle was parked in one of their car parks. I was visiting a friend at the time and had placed a permit on the dashboard of the car. When I returned to the car in the morning I had a notice attached to the windscreen. The permit had was on the centre console of the car which I can only imagine blew there when we shut the car doors. I have sent copies of the permit to UKPC along with several letters, their last reply said that they still require payment which is now £90 and if I dont pay they will refer me to their debt collecting agency. Do I have a case and what should I do? Thanks You
